  • Remove those old, dated and faded decals to clean and update the outside of your RV. It's not that hard and by watching my trials and errors you can do it too! Watch me as I explain and demonstrate how I remove the decals from my 2016 Northern Lite truck camper. Removing the decals is the first step in making your rig look cool again.
This is the scraper I used... amzn.to/3wVA9hk
Here is the Goo Gone Adhesive Remover - Amazing stuff! amzn.to/3aA39Sv
Harbor Freight seems to have discontinued the heat gun I used. You might still find it in a store. www.harborfreight.com/power-t...
I highly recommend one with adjustable temperature control. This one is very similar. amzn.to/3tqcyDv
    Thanks!

I have some hard to remove glue residue after removing some old decals on my RV as well. The biggest tip that I received from you is there is gel good gone! I will try some of that because the other type really was to runny. Thank you for taking the time to video this.

This gel is still a little runny, but not too bad. Let me know how it goes for you.

Mike, I think the camper looks much better without all the decals personally. Besides, they cost enough to buy as it is without giving them free advertising to boot! 😂. When I go to buy my Northstar 850SC soon I’m praying they have one without decals already on it but I’m not gonna hold my breath! My Harbor Freight heat gun’s not adjustable like yours…I didn’t see adjustable ones when I bought mine. Great video! Stay safe! ~Jim~

I have now added my own custom decals. I need to update my UA-cam home page with a new photo. You can probably get by with a non-adjustable heat gun. A viewer below even recommended parking in the sun on a warm day to soften things up. I think that would work as long as the decals weren't too old and baked on.

Using the heat generated from direct sunlight on a hot summer day will really soften up those decals without a tedious heat gun. I just did mine yesterday by this method. Just position the RV as to the side you're doing, and let the sun do the work!

Good idea for this time of year (Summer). It was in the 90s here in Colorado yesterday, but I removed mine during early spring in Colorado, so it wasn't very warm. Cheers!

Distillates means petroleum based. The citrus is to hide that smell. That's why you can't ingest it.

Makes sense. It sure doesn’t seem as oily as WD40 does.

VERY INFORMITIVE VIDEO. I'M PLANNING TO DO MY DECALS THIS WEEKEND. DID YOU TRY WD-40?

No I didn’t try WD40. I found the Goo Gone remover to be very effective without the petroleum products and associated VOCs. Best of luck!

The decal removed on the front shows an unfaded gelcoat under so there's a faint impression of the removed decal. Did this fade with time to match the area outside of the decal?

The front was the worst and showed a fair amount of "ghosting." It polishes out fairly well, but the surrounding area does chalk up quicker and it reappears. I has gotten somewhat better over time, but is still visible if I haven't polished the area for awhile.
