I, just a couple weeks ago, decided to get my 18t running again! The only issue I have though is a grinding a gear.... somewhere, in the drive line. When I punch it, it grinds like crazy and there is no noticeable wear. And it’s a chore to open the driveline for inspection. I dis get the associated modified motor back in the day, and I just recently had to get a new steering servo, NO servo savor because mine was garbage.
Cool video, subscribed. I was just looking up rc18 vids, because I recently scored an 18t and mt for dirt cheap, paid $20 for the mt, came with factory team parts, and tekin mini rage system. The first hobby grade rc I ever had was an rc18b, mamba 25/8000kv, back in 2005ish. Lots of fun, but the weak diffs, front dog bones popping out, and steering slop are a shame. Of course, those are fixable. I took the esc/motor from my new mini-t 2.0, put it in the rc18mt, works great! They are much more durable without crazy brushless power, and parts are rare, so I'm playing it safe. I also took the outer spring from my mini-t 2.0 servo saver, placed it over the rc18 saver, works great!
Those are great mods. I haven't driven mine in a long time. Lol hopefully it still works. CVDs, metal outdrives and proper shimming will make the drove line a lot better. Thanks for the sub. I miss making videos.
Wow, what a nice throwback. I agree to every detail you said. I also still have a RC18T sitting at my parents, but I'm hesitating to use it since you can't get the parts anymore :(
The A arm flip mod, front and rear gives the car a longer wheelbase and stability. Best of all it's free, just flip the arms and drill a hole for the shocks
Bro nice video . I just subscribed but I just bought a 18 mt and I'm having issues putting it back together if u could help me out with info would be great .as my issue is I can't put the main plastic back that covers the front and rear diff and it get hung up around the spur gear for some reason and doesn't move smoothly . The manual says squat and no you tuber has assembled one on camera and associated has no videos thanks
I miss running mine. I really want to get it up and running again but all the parts are so expensive nowadays. I really want to upgrade my diff to the steel gears as they're known to go as soon as you go over 5000KV brushless lol.
Great video 👍 We were racing the RC18R until last month when our track closed down. I posted a few videos on it. What year do you think it was when you bought yours?
It's been hard finding parts for thRC18 lately so I guess it's time to move on. We are almost done with our new local outdoor track. Been getting my Tekno's ready. Hopefully next month we will be racing there, so no more out of town racing 😎
Body clips for CVD fix......🤯👍🏾 why am I just hearing about this.... why didn't I think of that! Great video man! I use pipe threading tape to keep cvd pins from flying out.....
I've been trying to turn my rc18t into a crawler/trophy truck. Yeah, I know. I'm going to hell. Anyways, I made some bars that go across the top of each of the body mount structures so I can make the suspension vertical and I cut out some plastic and whatnot to force the arms down.
@@traxxasrockhead people at my local tracks are trying to bring it back but what it really needs is a company to release a new car or like re-release an old one like Associated did with the RC10 bring back the gt2. Also the 2wd truck tire selection is kinda down right now do to carpet indoor and clay indoor
Love em. I run my rc18t every time I go to the track
its a great car
Great video, walking us through your mods. Well-done, brother! 👍🏼
On my associated gt2 I took an ink pen spring on the dog bones on each side of the dog bones to keep them centered.
Hmm that's cool. Very resourceful
Did that with my RC10T sport truck 👍🏾 miss that old truck

I would guess the motor is not mounted properly. If the pinion gear and spur gear are not staying engaged.
I would also say check the diff gears (in put and diff gear) and make sure they are shimed properly. I use to blow through those like water

I have the rc18t looking to go brushless
Great idea man. I went brushless and never went back. Lol

yeah, maybe get a few factory team kits to use for extra parts but that's all you can do..... maybe Ebay too..
I'm glad you enjoyed the video

huh, i didn't know that, thanks for sharing man

Are you talking about the chassis brace that the stock receiever mounts to along with the front and rear shock tower?

i had at 6800kv in mine with no problem when it's probably shimmed. Getting metal out drives is must though.^-^
@@traxxasrockhead seems I cant find the metal out drives anymore, such a shame now everythings discontinued for the truck
@@ItsDavid07 sometimes a local shop will have some kicking around in the back. Maybe 18th scale will make a come back and they will make them again.
Just found your channel and I love it. Just did that spring thing for the steering and it works great. You got another sub.
awesome, thanks man, glad you enjoy the channel
Having parts for this rc is the issue right now for me... but such a trill to drive !!!
If you know were to find parts bump me up!
I'm really sure. I don't drive this car anymore when Associated discontinued it. I hope you're able to find some parts though.
Great video 👍

ScottzillaRC ugh that's too bad your track closed 😕 I probably bought mine in 2006

Yeah, i didn't have money for a rebuild kit but i had a TON of body pins. Found out later that they lasted WAAAAY longer than ones from AE
Lol what’s with the traxxas sticker?
i like to use decals that match the paint scheme. The Traxxas is white and black, those colors are in the paint scheme.

huh, well when it's done i'd love to see it.
Think it's time for a throwback speed run
hmmm... you think so?
2018 GT5 is on the rise and I'm still on the podium with a GT2
Hinsie lol that would be great if 2wd nitro trucks made a come back

Rcm aka rc madness is the place to race
Yeah its great and so is Chris thr owner.
@@traxxasrockhead yes chris is a great guy. Help me out years ago when I started racing.
Yeah buddy. Check my tube. I just knocked the webs off my old girl at the track last weekend
