Amen to that. How I found Yankee is a result of my research. For context I have collected coins since the age of 10. Six months before I planned to retire, I was one of the millions who had no faith in the dollar and I had a sizable 401K. I was going to put at least half of it in precious metals. Started researching on UA-cam because I find it more efficient than a google search. Found and glued myself to Yankees videos and SD Bullion. Because of the size of my 401K, I started a self-directed IRA at SD Bullion.

Same with stocks. Sometimes people get enthused by a rising stock market and then just throw money at it and hope. There are plenty of people out there who are only too happy to take such people for everything they have, and that's just a shame.
Old folks letting conservative news outlets scare them via the TV commercials are easy prey. You need gold and emergency survival food now! Don't delay!

it was not tactful. The deal just wasn't as bad as the guy made it out to be. Just like he panicked when he bought, he's panicking now over nothing. All that happened is he didn't get the very best deal out there. He wasn't scammed.
They could care less, they'll go as far as they can until people don't buy enough to keep them in business or investigated. By then long gone and on to the next scam.
So Children? What did we learn to day (at this man's expense)? NEVER buy from the first person to talk to UNLESS you have checked around. He said he'd been working and didn't really have the time. That was Expensive work!
This poor guy spent years saving his hard earned money to lose so much in a single deal. A bitter pill to swallow and my hat is off to him for going in front of the camera. It took guts to show the world his mistake and he will get no slams from me. He's just a blue collar man and I hope he holds his stack for the future.
I'm glad he was willing to talk about it. His openness will likely save someone else from making the same mistake. I'd be sick to my stomach if I had lost that much money. I hope he gets his money back. 🤢🤮

Wow! Been doing this for a long time and have always purchased on my own. Spot price is always the target, get as close as you can. Sorry for that gentleman, however he now knows Tim! Remember, don't sell and you have not lost!

I can't stop shaking my head. That is insane! If you're going to drop $700,000 into precious metals, you better know what you're doing. I don't think there is any way he will get his money back . They can justify their premiums on everything they sold. They can charge whatever they want. Is it a good price? Heck no it isn't! But some of it's gotta be on him for not doing his research first.
If you think you're not in the same boat as this gentleman, do some research on the buy/sell spread. Gold will be in the 5-10% range and silver in the 15-20% range. You should always be looking for as close to spot as you can get, but there's always going to be a spread as well. These dealers aren't UNICEF.
Dang, I'd been embarrassed to have shown my face on that video! Feel bad for that guy. I don't see how some people sleep at night doing someone like this!
I Would only talk with my face blurred out.I called a pawn shop instead of coin shop by accident and they gave me a price of 600$ an ounce below spot.trying to get me for 3k and said she was doing me a favor

Always do your due diligence when dealing with any large purchase. Don't trust anybody. We buy gold and silver because we don't trust the monetary system. Why would you trust a bullion dealer?
I’ve driven from northwest Connecticut to Manchester to buy some silver after watching your channel, in February. I believe I paid approximately $33 an ounce. Like your podcast thanks. I will be going back. This was my first time, not my last! I have one of your stickers on my fridge! ✌️thanks again
We all make mistakes in life and we learn from them. Gold & silver is not as cheap or readily available in some countries around the world , you guys have it way easier. We pay huge premiums and tax with no other option. Hopefully his mistake will be cancelled out when the prices soar.
Precious metals are not investments, they are insurance and collectables. This guy proves why you should not invest in or purchase precious metals before you know what you are doing. One is born every minute...
I almost got burnt by this company as well! Luckily, I was looking up prices and canceled my deal with Hartford and did all the buys myself. They are crooks.
Do your research it's not a crime, they got someone that was very uneducated and they banked. Sometimes lessons are hard to learn. Painful. They took advantage of you. Gullible & desperate is not a good combo to buy gold and silver. This is painful to watch.
I took my Girlfriend's Son who was leaving for College aside and said, "if you're making a big money decision, whether it's a few hundred or a few hundred thousand, always make sure you TAKE EMOTION OUT OF THE EQUATION! Sit down, clear your head, do your research and document all the pros and cons of the purchase, then decide."
They got my brother with some mark twain gold coins and I ended up buying them at spot price. He took a bath and was shocked when I explained what happened
Never trust someone else with your finances. You will always get fleeced. To drop that kind of money without knowing what you are buying is absolute insanity. At least he didn't hand over his wallet to Sam Bankman-Fried.
I feel for you in dealing with them and I agree with you American Hartford takes advantage of you if they feel you are not smart purchasing gold and silver. I made my very first purchase with them and the salesman definitely charged me high premiums, I have since learned the market watching Yankee Stacking and others.
This is an important cautionary tale. It is crucial to understand what you are investing in. Every corporation operates with an unlimited growth business model. They aren’t looking out for you. They aren’t your friends. Never trust big business.
Hartford is not going to give him his money back. You gotta feel for the guy, but he did panic and did agree to it. Lessons learned the extreme hard way.
Yankee, this is all the more reason people should subscribe to your channel! It's a learning experience with you and Tim! Two honest people telling things like they are.
Who spends $350,000 each on gold and silver and doesn't even know the going price? Something doesn't add up. Look on the bright side. In 20 years he'll break even.
He won't be able to do a thing, these are "collector coins" that they advertise very cleverly and hint they will skyrocket in value. They can charge any amount they want. Unless they have a written guarantee they will go up or refund or buy them back at the price paid, you're 100% out of luck. Numismatics is one of the biggest scams ever if you don't buy from reputable dealer and the grading certified by the 2 major grading companies.
Some of these guys have the mints produce 'exclusive' coins with a unique reverse. Then they can't really get caught in a 'price match' on the primary market since nobody else can sell them.
Apparently, there is a quarter ounce Perth gold Australian wildlife coin. On the back, it has the kangaroo, koala and kookaburra. APMEX lists it as being minted in only 2021 and 2o22. with a listed mint run of only 1000 coins each year. If what this guy is saying is true, he somehow ended up with 10% of the entire mint run for those two years. Something isn't adding up with that one.
Wow! That was a financially painful piece of information to hear from that fellow regarding his purchases and attempts to sell. Ouch! One does have to educate oneself before venturing into anything money related.
Is the IRS notified of the sale of precious metals? I was thinking of selling family heirlooms, but I didn't want to trigger any disclosure to government.
Only purchases of $10,000 or more at one time with cash is reportable to the IRS. However, selling your precious metals could be subject to capital gains taxes.
Very sad. There's a lot of advertising for this company on YT too. He didn't get scammed as much as he had the wool pulled over his eyes by a dodgy salesman. He left the purchase decision to the "expert" because not everyone can know everything about financial planning and issue associated with it. To all those with the harsh comments about fools being easily parted from their money, consider how well you know every detail of the financial and tax systems and consider how much you may be losing because you don't know it all. I hope Hartford make this right for him. He was certainly duped, but I don't think it would count as fraud.
Most of the t.v. hucksters I've seen push coins for their numismatic value and not for stacking. They want you to buy with the thought that it will be worth something in 50 years or 100 years. Very different from stacking goals. I'm glad he's sharing his story. I'm sure he'll do better from here on out. At least he's educating himself and sees the value in metals. It hurts, but I think he'll be find in the long run.
I was on here non stop then all of the sudden all your lives and videos disappeared from my utube. I was really wondering and praying for ya Yankee it’s good to see you back!
It’s strange Tim is always so outspoken until it comes time to talk about another metal seller who screwed a guy over and he won’t even say the price is out loud. He points to numbers and keeps his head down. Brave man!
Hope this gentleman gets his money back. As a first-time stacker, I went to a local coin shop a couple days ago and asked for $2050 of silver to avoid the California sales tax that's exempt for purchases over $2000. He gave me 2 rolls of American Eagles (40 coins) and $25 face-value 90% coinage. I guess this was reasonable and he didn't try to sell me any high-premium stuff like what happened in this video. I'll probably go back to this shop for future purchases and add to my stack incrementally.
Sounds like he will be somewhat wiser in the future. If he holds onto those purchases long enough there is a good chance he will recover his money. Hopefully a couple of years and not decades.
I had a salesman at a metals company in Florida, who wanted me to sign over the purchasing rights of my metals to him, using the money in my IRA. For me it was a big red flag, and I dropped him like a hot potato. I wanted to purchase as many ounces as I could for my small IRA, and he wanted to scam me just like the man in the video was scammed. No thank you.
I used to buy overpriced items from the Royal Canadian Mint, when I first started. It took me a year to smarten up and then I started buying bullion instead. Since it was 14 years ago, I actually did well on the gold, lol! The silver I'm still waiting to break even on, but once I started buying bullion, I have done well.
@@mimaroo1431 Still pouring but shut down because of the postal strikeup here. 100 ounces of casting shot/grain behind locked doors and can't meet my xmas orders. I feel aweful for not being able to do that. I missed the 100 by 1 day. I hope your not afected by it. All the best for you and yours.
@TomokosEnterprize That's too bad! I have a parcel stuck somewhere in New Brunswick, but it's not something that I need desperately. I usually send a parcel to Alberta, but since my husband and I are going to visit the family out there for Christmas, I didn't have to send a parcel this year. So far I'm not negatively affected by the strike. I do feel for everyone who relies on Canada post. It really is shameful that they chose this time of the year to make a stand.
@@mimaroo1431 Thats great you dont get messed up by the strike and your right about their timing. Even if I had the shot I still can't move it.I have used a courier twice and the $ are big, big, big. 25 times as much. Gold Bear Bunny covered that one. And the other one was chopstics to Antarctica (11 sets) to the USA Navy Seals stationed there. That was a fun one. I love that part of the world around New Brunswick. I spent 4years with our navy down there out of Halifax. It is kind of a magical sort of place. Great people, food and the best little pubs. I would love to visit anywhere down there again.
I'm sorry for you getting scammed! The same has happened to me on a lesser level dealing with contractors doing work on our house. I will be very wary. I'm glad I found this channel and I subscribed. I hope you can get your money back!
That poor man in this video that got taken by American Hartford. These people and companies that steal from hard working and honest Americans are worse than our politicians. The main problem is that this industry is not regulated. This poor man was taken advantage of. The guy needs to get an attorney, make a complaint, and sue American Hartford. He should get some money back if he pushes hard enough. There is a UA-cam channel, called TedSpeaks. This retired gentleman used to be a certified Financial Planner, and he is claiming to help people by going after these shady gold company predators. I feel so sorry for that guy. What ever you do in life, especially when it comes to the financial decisions that we make, please get educated before giving over any cash to someone else. Don't rush in and try not to make financial decisions via emotions. Put your toe in to test the water when investing.
Well, in South Africa, after VAT and premiums we pay around $50 per ounce for silver. And if we sell, we get just below spot. So I feel this ma's pain.
It’s really all on him for not doing his research. Don’t spend 6 figure amounts without doing your homework. It’s no different with buying a car, a house or anything else. Stop blaming everyone else for your hasty, uneducated decisions😑
I had a similar experience with one of the big advertisers. It was only 5 gold Maple Leafs, but they initially tried to sell me high premium stuff. I got a good price on the Maples, but the fees were stupid. I took the in-kind distribution; lesson learned. If you can possibly hold it, do so.
Very sad news for the man who got screwed on his purchase, he should have doubled checked the prices before making that big comment. But shame on the bullion company that did this
You know the shyster sales rep just laughed and laughed when he hung up the phone after scamming this poor guy. Hell will have to crank up the heat several degrees when the rep shows up.
It’s completely FOOLISH not to shop prices, especially when you’re starting out, but even experienced buyers should still shop prices with a few trusted sources. I hope he can get some money back.
I hate to see people go out and spend huge money when we are already at all times high. I looked back a year ago and gold was down 600 from today. Buy overtime buy sale's from business you can trust don't buy graded billion unless you have more money than you need
I learned not to deal with anyone advertising things like this on television or the radio. My dealer warned against putting my retirement into metals. Later there was news about these holding companies stealing the metals. Also, never buy or believe the advertisements on UA-cam. Scams all around
I worked 40 years in same job as high school teacher at same school. Always hear these financial companies “if you have over 250 k, call us”. I am NOWHERE even remotely close to that. No inheritance here
My own Mother was getting her cash together right around the election & the night after he won, even with all I've been teaching her, she called me up excited and announced she was "quitting everything because she knows now everything will be fine for 4 more years at least!" She's walking right at the edge of a cliff and going to find herself in a giant mess financially. It's hard teaching people to learn about a purchase before you buy or you get "overcharged" & most won't know it.
Unfortunately the fellows lack of education screwed himself...... Different companies have fees and premiums that you must be aware of when buying or selling

Yankee, this is all the more reason people should subscribe to your channel! It's a learning experience with you and Tim! Two honest people telling things like they are.
I try!!!! I'm so hoping people share this one.
Who spends $350,000 each on gold and silver and doesn't even know the going price? Something doesn't add up. Look on the bright side. In 20 years he'll break even.
Don’t be so hoity toity! These companies are good at duping people. We all have to learn the hard way at times. You included!
Kudos to him for speaking out. 👌
If you do visit the St G Museum, please take us along.
You got it!! 👌🏻
For some reason I still see other youtubers doing ad read for this unethical company make me question their morals.
Wow! That was a financially painful piece of information to hear from that fellow regarding his purchases and attempts to sell. Ouch! One does have to educate oneself before venturing into anything money related.
He was using physical gold and silver to swing trade the election. One of the dumbest decisions he could have made.
He took his life savings and bought gold and silver and got ripped off. That was a dumb move.
Imagine buying online when you could just go buy all your LCS’ supply for the year and make a forever friend. 😂
@@YankeeStacking Good to know
spread the word people!!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing YS👍
Happens to a lot of 1st time buyers like my brother with Mark twain gold coins.sold them to me at spot price and he took a bath.they look pretty.
Tim is genuine. It's easy to jump on the hate bandwagon, but he doesn't. That's why when he says don't do it, believe him!
A fool and his money are easily separated
Snow?! It's currently 80+ degrees in south texas! lol
I was on here non stop then all of the sudden all your lives and videos disappeared from my utube. I was really wondering and praying for ya Yankee it’s good to see you back!
I simply took a week off. LOL. All is good with the Yankee household.
@@YankeeStacking no this was longer than a week I think the algorithm had kicked me out of yours.
It’s strange Tim is always so outspoken until it comes time to talk about another metal seller who screwed a guy over and he won’t even say the price is out loud. He points to numbers and keeps his head down. Brave man!
He's an honorable man.
Good to see you again.
@@TomokosEnterprize Haven't really gone anywhere. Still stacking
Wow! $4000 per ounce on some of the gold he bought, outrageous! $50 per ounce on silver! Outrageous!.😮

my brother got nailed with Mark twain gold coins.local dealer knew he had a 1st time buyer.I bought them at spot price and he took a bath.
The difference between the USA and the UK is that practically no working class man of his ilk in the UK has 700k in the bank.
So sad a new stacker getting done like that ... That man should look into criminal charges
Well, in South Africa, after VAT and premiums we pay around $50 per ounce for silver. And if we sell, we get just below spot. So I feel this ma's pain.
Man I feel hella bad for this guy,,people have died for less, things like this should be illegal period
Yes the poor guy looked on the edge
Unfortunately it's not illegal to have no morals.most car dealers roll the same way.uneducated consumers are easy pickings.
I’ve never once bought gold online at spot these advertisements should be held accountable
Just wait it out, as long as you don’t sell you’ll get it back eventually.
So this guy didn't know the spot price of gold when he bought it? And thought, he could sell the gold back for the same price he bought it for ?
Let's be honest here folks. This dude isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Imagine putting 700k to work w/ literally zero due diligence. I can’t even decide what flavor gum to get at the gas station
He shouldn't have to be. Were the hell is the honestly.
He got ripped off show some balls
It’s completely FOOLISH not to shop prices, especially when you’re starting out, but even experienced buyers should still shop prices with a few trusted sources.
I hope he can get some money back.
Who takes all their money out of the bank and then dumps it into something without doing any research at all obviously
I would love to know where these people have 400k to spend .
Inheritance
