I had a bad boy for 13 years and believe me that mower was a beast absolutely loved it I sold to my uncle and he still uses it til this day cutting 2 acres every weekend so 2 thumbs up
Been researching for a couple days looking at videos, going to the co-op to look at them and reading. I’m sold on them now and picking one up Friday. The feed store only has them with Kawasaki engines. Thanks for helping me decide. 👍
No problem. I'm still in the market for a mower. These dealerships are fighting me tooth and nail to give me demo's. My price price range is like 13k. I'm not buying anything for that amount with out testing it out first. And these dealerships look at me like I am crazy when I ask to try them out.
The ride of the elite is so comfortable. I think you picked well. I love the dixie choppers too. But the comfort of ride isn't even close to the bad boy
I have the Elite 60" cut with the Kawasaki 27hp motor. Owned it for 6 years now and only two things have gone wrong. First is the parking brake cable keeps breaking right at the handle. First time it broke was when the dealer was delivering it to my house. He took it back, replaced the cable, brought it back, broke it again. He said he would order another cable (never heard anything back again....(dealer problem). 2nd is the mower deck tensioner for the drive belt. It has jumped off the retainer twice. It was properly adjusted per the manual. Not a big deal if you are young and strong (thank goodness for a young nephew). Other than those 2 things, it has done an excellent job on keeping about 6 acres of grass cut.
FINALLY AN UNBIASED REVIEW! Not too cute (except for the cute furry critters), blaring music, a great camera and actual usage of the mower! I appreciate your honesty and your talking about the product rather than bashing others just to make it look good! I'm still on the fence between a Toro MyRide and a BadBoy ZTR! Both are great and I like how you talked about longevity and distribution of the grass over the lawn. I was sold on the Toro initially because a friend said that most mowers are the same, but you want one that is easy to work on, and that has a dealer nearby that can service it if you need help. However, your review just brought BadBoy back into the game! Great job and thanks again for being unbiased.
The biggest issue I have with Toro, is that they don't give the dealerships a demo model. I really wanted to review the Toro 4000 series. But i couldn't find a dealership that would let me turn the blades on. These are not small purchase. I would never purchase a car that i didn't test drive and I feel the exact same way about mowers. They would let me drive it around the parking lot, but thats not something I would ever do with it.
Now I didn't mention this in the review, but the longevity of these dealerships seems to be fading fast. I had a huge dealer less than 5 miles from me. They sold out last year and with that, I would have lost my ability to get parts if I would have purchased this mower. I assume this all fits into longevity. And the camera is just my cell phone
@@homesteadhero6276 What about reviewing one that is owned by a friend (if you know someone who has one)? I'm thinking that the Toro 4000 series could be a BEAST! I currently have someone helping me out and he says that he would get the Toro, but the BadBoy is an extremely good mower. He does lawns professionally. I had a health setback that I'm recovering from and sold my lawn tractor. When I get healthy, I will definitely be back out there mowing. I've seen some reviews where the BadBoy has caught on fire and that does have my attention.
@@homesteadhero6276 Ohhhh...that's a good point. I have lived in my current home for 23 years and they (the dealership) has been there since I have been here. They sale Toro's and BadBoys.
The Koehler and Kawasaki motor is more quite compared to the Briggs motor. My friend bought the maverick with the Kawasaki motor and it’s not that loud. He also has the dial suspension seat which is really nice. He absolutely loves it.. also you brought up longevity. I have a friend that works on them for ppl and said they are really good mowers and withstand a lot of abuse especially from one guy he knows personally. 😁
I enjoyed the ZT Elite. But it just isnt big enough for 5 acres. The ZT elite made me extremely interested in the Rogue. But, our bad boy dealer went under this year

And for the price point of zt elite, that's not terrible
Great information and demonstration…….Thank you
Glad it was helpful!

I couldn't find anyone with a 4000. My next review will be on a spartan.
Great Job! Thanks for the review. Show it to your local dealer. They may give you a free oil change or something.
I've just been trying to demo a Rogue. No luck yet

I love me a Kawasaki. I really want to try out a rogue
That's Briggs & Stratton for you I do like the brig's they are strong
I've always been a Kawasaki man. It's in my DNA. But then again, I just bought a mower with a briggs because I loved the mower that much.
Got 500 hrs on my 2013 zt elite and all I done is belts blades and on set of spindle bearings plus regular oil and hydro changes
I enjoyed the ZT Elite. But it just isnt big enough for 5 acres. The ZT elite made me extremely interested in the Rogue. But, our bad boy dealer went under this year
I don’t think I ever noticed they make them with the chute and controls on the left side. Where did you find that?
My neighbor has a Bad Boy for the past 6 yrs only thing he has replaced was front wheel, belts in that time frame
Can't ask for much more than that. Those are normal wear items
@homesteadhero6276 been doing my research and reading reviews on several zero turn mowers and so far Bad Boy is out beating them
Thought that was a bunny on the ground😮
Have you tried anti-seize compound on your bolts? I use it on my mowers and makes a world of difference changing blades
I just use marine grease on my dixie
Does the seat seat adjust backward and forward?
I don't believe it did
Might want to check a bit before you make a statement about lack of longevity. Bad Bou started building mowers in 2002. 22 years ago.!
It's just my concern. The video literally states, I don't know 🤷♂️
where's the drive oil reservoir's?
Bottom back side of the mower engine block
After re reading your question, I don't know lol. Good question. I even slowed my video down to find them and couldn't.
The ZT doesn't have one; there's fill plugs on top of the hydros. I bought a tank, couple of fittings and hose and made my own.
Bad boys aren't a bad mower, almost got the Maverick but the Scag Patriot is the Cadillac of the two
The Scag Turf Tiger just turned me against scag. I want to demo the Rogue
Everything is backwards LOL
