    I was cutting some dead 25 inch hickory a few weeks ago for a friend and I was really surprised how fast my ms 361 cut. I used my bigger 660 on the 25 inch stuff because it had a 25 inch bar and the 361 cut most of the 22 inch stuff. Both saws had LGX chains on them. I had to cut from both sides of the logs with the 361 with it’s shorter bar but it flew through that hard stuff. My Husqvarna 455 sat on the sidelines because it’s Husqvarna chain just threw sparks and would barely dent this hard wood. It now has an Oregon LGX chain on it. All the chains had been hand sharpened before that days cutting, probably with the same file since they were all 3/8,.050-72 chains. I like RS chains, finding them almost identical to LGX chains, but LGX chains cost about 1/3 less than Stihl chains, so I use, primarily, Oregon chains. My local Stihl dealers like to soak you for RS chains, about $35 a pop and I get Oregon LGX chains for less than $25 foe 3/8, .050 chain. Go figure.

    When I had it, my 361 was my favorite largish saw. My 200t was my favorite small saw and the one I enjoyed the most.
    Great video showing the speed of the 3 saws in comparison. 😎👍

    aha, very interesting. I have both a 361 & a newer 362 both broken in and frequently used. I was just sure my older saw out-performed the newer one and now you've confirmed it. What's the deal? Spark arrestor?

    you made me smile some of you, old school means you pump the oil in by hand pump to the bar as we did early 60,s Homelite

    My 360 is not a house afire but it is reliable and light - qualities I appreciate in a saw. My 361 will cut faster than the 360 and sometimes my 440 but it is a little more particular and just loves to give me problems. The 361 is just not as reliable or light as the 360. I have never used a 362 so I cannot speak about them. I do own a 660 and while it is a good saw it is real heavy and cumbersome. Strictly a ground saw for bucking big stuff.my 440 is in between - good for big bucking but falls on its face when cutting big trees on a high stump. The 360 and 361 will do both but maybe not as fast as the 440 or 660.

    I'm trying to find more info on all the differences between these saws, IE, how much heavier the older saw is and any changes to design ect, if you went into more detail still getting straight to the point that would be great.

      MS 361/62 is one of Stihl’s greatest saws. The 660/61 can also fit in that category. Not that the others aren’t great, but these two I find some of the most impressive. I have a 361 & 661

    I’ve got a 361. Maybe I’m missing something but I’ve found it to be a particularly fast cutter with almost unique performance for its class. Additionally, when ported its hard for for larger saws to compete. I’m not sure the 362 version out performs it.

    • @BuzzWorthyLife
      @BuzzWorthyLife  2 роки тому

      I agree, the 362 doesnt seem to be a better saw than the 361. Its still a go to saw for me.

    you do not have the brake on when you are walking, big mistake if you trip, also put the saw right into the log, and pivot on the spikes, one hand, you are just making work for yourself, thanks though
