    Ok, not sure what you were looking at. The 416 shattered two blocks and cracked the third. The 45-70 shattered two.

    I would say all 3 are powerful with higher grain loads. I know for fact all 3 have taken bison and Australian water buffalo with ease. I know all 3 can take cape buffalo.

    Looked like the 45:70 hit a little high and went out the top. 👍👍. Great job.

      Yea it was a bit high because those loads are 2000fps and they run about 2 inches higher than POA and I forgot about that, it didn't go over the top.

      @@NYPrepper I really like the test you do. I picked up on your channel by way of Alaskan ballistics. You do some pretty extreme set ups and test not to mention costly. I was thinking if you built something to hold the top of the pavers so they don’t tip over would be a good. Looked like the 416 scared the last pavers out of the way 😂😂. Great job 👍👍

    I really enjoy your videos. I’m surprised you don’t have way more views than you have. Love the 416 Ruger!

    Great video, thank you. I'd be interesting seeing this with the pavers stalked face to face though without any space between them. I'm really enjoying watching your videos.

    Interesting test though more what you might call a knock down test rather than penetration given that the blocks fell over. I have a .416 REM Mag and a .45/70 , both great cartridges.

    Dang 416! Biggest rifle I’ve shot is a 300 win mag and thought it had enough punch haha!

    • @NYPrepper
      @NYPrepper  2 роки тому +2

      416 is an excellent dangerous game caliber. It penetrates more than the 458's and 500s because of slightly smaller diameter. It has a lot of punch, leaves a sore shoulder for sure.

    That looks like it kicked pretty good would you say my .338 lapua is about the same ? My wife got it For my birthday and I haven’t shot it wet ammo is outrageous $130 a box o

    • @NYPrepper
      @NYPrepper  2 роки тому +1

      338 Lapua is almost as much energy yes, wuthout a brake the 338 lapua would have almost as much recoil but they are designed for long range while elephant guns are designed for extreme penetration at short ranges.

      I would go Rigby or Ruger route. Rem mag sucks. Ruger generates as much power as rem mag but in a standard length action and 20 inch barrel.

    • @andrewcleveland
      @andrewcleveland Рік тому +1

      @@NYPrepper really enjoy your videos coming from a die hard 416 man myself. The 416 rem far from sucks. I’m a huge fan of the 416 ruger also. The only problem is the factory loads from Buffalo bore and Hornady in the ruger use powder not available to us handloaders. With our over the counter powders the 20” barrel will get around 2300 fps which is no slouch either. The original rigby load was 2350 fps. If u only use factory loads then by all means the 20” barrel 416 ruger will match the 416 rem mag factory loads for factory loads. I run a 416 rem mag and the larger powder capacity is noticeable quite easily. Also run a 416 Taylor improved version with 400 gr bullets at 2450 fps. Once again I’m by no means dising the 416 ruger it’s a wonderful cartridge especially with the proprietary powders us handloaders don’t have access too, but it does not have the case capacity to outperform the 416 Remington. And the 416 Remington does not have the case capacity to outperform the 416 rigby. Just look in the newest Hornady reloading book for their 416 ruger load data.Hornady’s fastest load in the 11th edition reloading manual is 80 grains of power pro 2000MR powder for 2300 fps in 20” barrel. Once again this is all a moot point if you only plan on shooting factory loads, which by the way are great. I’m just letting you know that if you do decide to handload to save money on these big boomers not to gets your hopes up on recreating the Buffalo bore or Hornady loads with the powders available to us. Anyways great video man I enjoys watching you sling them 416’s and keep up the good work!
