The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Very awesome singer and song and I love that eara of music but am from the mid to late 50s 1956 I was born so my era is the 60s and 70s music ! But I love to listen gto 60s 70s people like Tony Bennett Tom Jones Elvis among others !

i am so grateful you put this on. i've been looking for this performance for so long. i have never forgotten it since i saw it live on TV. i believe this was Ed Sullivan's last show if i remember right.

We still have Mr Bennett with us, but time is catching up with him. He turned 95 last month and is truly one of the all-time greats! Thanks for all the appearances and recordings over these many years, Tony!

This was very moving! Thanks for this performance! I hope you will one day also post Tony's rare appearances on Sullivan from the early '50's, which I don't think have been seen since they first aired. He did some of his first hits on the show, such as "Because of You", "Rags to Riches" and "Stranger in Paradise".

He was a rather mediocre singer. Many people on UA-cam sing better. Can't understand his long career, especially after his voice was gone about 20 years ago.

That is hysterical. Just because people can do vocal gymnastics does not make them good singers.i would say this performance is pretty solid.
There are very few vocal artist that have maintained a career spanning 70 years! Tony’s artistry and breadth of music recorded from the very early 1950’s -2021 has stood the test of time!
