If you can believe that...I've since had 2 surgeries and unable to ride. of course Trump was elected. John McCain has passed. As a veteran maybe you can explain to me the difference between Memorial Day in May and Veterans Day in November. To me both Memorial Day and Veterans Day are the same thing except that Memorial Day is in May and Veterans Day is in November.

Opposition to the party of the President is every bit as patriotic as supporting the President themselves, but our nation has no god, it has the freedom to worship god as each of us deems fit, or to not worship at all. A true patriot sees this as our duty, to uphold our constitution which has nothing to do with blindly supporting our President and instead questioning him and holding him accountable. Article 1 of the constitution describes not a presidency but our congress as the first branch of government and calls the House of representatives the peoples house, the branch most aligned with the nation. The Senate is the peoples statecraft, the more restrained house of Congress, but the job of our congress is to legislate, and perform oversight by approving ministers, ie cabinet positions and judicial nominees. Article 2 is the executive branch, whose job is to execute the laws and policies set forth by the Article 1 branch. And the problem is you neither see nor respect in your statement, that supporting the President makes you a patriot, that my loyalty to country is beholden to any man. My honor and my faith is to my oath to uphold the Constitution, which the President is just as beholden to. My oath actually means something to me, whereas the very first amendment is under attack by you in your statement of our god, and by our President calling journalists the enemy of the people, as well as the banning of muslims which flies in the face of freedom of religion. So learn the Constitution, take the time to get educated, or forever be a brainwashed disciple of obedient political fiction and the dog of the wealthy Corporate establishment that could care less about you and wants you to stay ignorant.

My grandfather fought in World War II. He was in the army and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 92. He was a life-long Republican, yet one of the last things he wanted to see in life was Donald Trump thrown out of office.
My Uncle Nick from Minnesota served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was killed in combat aboard the heavy cruiser USS San Francisco (CA-38) during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, 12-15 November 1942. Rest in peace.
For this Memorial Day, I'm making a contribution to the Lincoln Project in memory of my father who was a Navy pilot in WWII. He risked his life fighting at Midway, Guadalcanal, Truk Lagoon, and the Battle of the Philippine Sea to defend our democracy. As a conservative Republican all his life, he would be appalled at what Cadet Bone Spurs and his enablers have done to our country.

Thank you. My father fought in WWII and Korea. He never talked about it....The men in that war never talked about it. They came home, picked up the pieces and carried on. When my father was 70, I was able to take him to Washington DC, and by the grace of God, that was the day they were dedicating the WWII memorial. I never saw my father cry, ever, but that day I did. My father spoke with many service men....men he didn't even know. I saw him heal that day. My father has since passed away, and I am the lucky one in the family who has the portrait of him in his uniform. As a child I looked at it often, and many questions ran through my mind. Now I look at it as an adult, and my questions have been answered. To serve your country is the highest honor. To all those men and women who gave their lives so that I could grow up in a free country, thank you. And to my dad... I love and miss you......

Everyday it reminds him and this is why it's so important to cherish our veterans. They do the dirty work to keep our country free from people like Trump , now here we are.

I am one of the healthcare workers on the frontlines today that are often call heros, but I would like to thank You for acknowledging our brave citizens who fought for our liberties because they are our real heros.
I rarely hear anyone point out that bone spurs are *curable.* I had them on my little toes, and a minor surgery removed them back in the 60s, and they haven't bothered me since. Of course, I stopped wearing high heels with pointy toes, which was the main cause back in the day. One wonders, at least I do, how he could have gotten them. Was he wearing high heels? Misshaped shoes? It doesn't even make sense, not as an excuse to keep someone out of the military and not on a guy as supposedly wealthy as he was that he couldn't have gotten treatment for them before they ever became an issue for the military. Obviously, _he was lying, and so was the doctor he paid off._ Gawd.

Many angry comments here. Let's take a moment this Memorial Day to pause and remember those who served and those who fell. Let's take this time to reflect on who *we* are and what *we* will do this year to restore our nation, to make it once again reflects the values so many have sacrificed to defend. This ad was a wonderful expression of American patriotism, calm, completely devoid of politics. It is a serious indictment of Trump's conduct that so many chose it as a platform to attack him. As a veteran maybe you can explain to me the difference between Memorial Day in May and Veterans Day in November. To me both Memorial Day and Veterans Day are the same thing except that Memorial Day is in May and Veterans Day is in November.

My honor and my faith is to my oath to uphold the Constitution, which the President is just as beholden to. My oath actually means something to me, whereas the very first amendment is under attack by you in your statement of our god, and by our President calling journalists the enemy of the people, as well as the banning of muslims which flies in the face of freedom of religion. So learn the Constitution, take the time to get educated, or forever be a brainwashed disciple of obedient political fiction and the dog of the wealthy Corporate establishment that could care less about you and wants you to stay ignorant.

Thank you. My father fought in WWII and Korea. He never talked about it....The men in that war never talked about it. They came home, picked up the pieces and carried on. When my father was 70, I was able to take him to Washington DC, and by the grace of God, that was the day they were dedicating the WWII memorial. I never saw my father cry, ever, but that day I did. My father spoke with many service men....men he didn't even know. I saw him heal that day. My father has since passed away, and I am the lucky one in the family who has the portrait of him in his uniform. As a child I looked at it often, and many questions ran through my mind. Now I look at it as an adult, and my questions have been answered. To serve your country is the highest honor. To all those men and women who gave their lives so that I could grow up in a free country, thank you. And to my dad... I love and miss you......

I'm a veteran and a Democrat. The Lincoln Project directors and I don't agree on much, but we do agree that Trump has gone too far. I hope the GOP goes back to being a reasonable opposition party again soon.
True Story, you could run this exact same ad again for Remembrance Day in November as they did for Memorial Day in May. Both Remembrance Day and Memorial Day are the same holidays celebrated on two different months.

Here In Canada, it is called Remembrance Day.
If I'm not mistaken, it is also called Remembrance Day in the U.K. , Australia, and New Zealand.
That being said, let us all remember those who made the supreme sacrifice.

Thank you Lincoln Project for this beautiful ad. My dad is a WW2 vet who told me 20 years ,he can not get what he saw in Germany during the war. Everyday it reminds him and this is why it's so important to cherish our veterans. They do the dirty work to keep our country free from people like Trump , now here we are.

So did I, but I'm glad there was none (except the image of Captain Khan's gravestone was a bit of a dig).
They did'nt have bone spurs to prevent them from serving.
Some had bone spurs, tough it out and served anyway.
I rarely hear anyone point out that bone spurs are *curable.* I had them on my little toes, and a minor surgery removed them back in the 60s, and they haven't bothered me since. Of course, I stopped wearing high heels with pointy toes, which was the main cause back in the day. One wonders, at least I do, how he could have gotten them. Was he wearing high heels? Misshaped shoes? It doesn't even make sense, not as an excuse to keep someone out of the military and not on a guy as supposedly wealthy as he was that he couldn't have gotten treatment for them before they ever became an issue for the military. Obviously, _he was lying, and so was the doctor he paid off._ Gawd.

It is not enough to shout angrily into the void.
This year, right now, the wheels of democracy are turning. Let's vow this year to be a examples of honesty, truth, and fairness. Let's be engaged with our representatives and, should they have fallen short of our values, let us support those who would replace them. Support them with our time and our financial resources.
This year will be difficult for many, but our honor is at stake. It will only be restored if we cause it to be.

This ad was a wonderful expression of American patriotism, calm, completely devoid of politics. It is a serious indictment of Trump's conduct that so many chose it as a platform to attack him. Anger is what is needed, what is required to excise this tumor. Hopefully that anger is expressed at the ballot box in November.

Many thanks to the Lincoln Project for the production of this beautiful and moving tribute to those of us who put our lives on the line for our country, going back all the way to the founding fathers! Even those of us who returned from combat alive and in what appeared to be one piece have in many cases had the remainder of our lives scarred by recurrent problems with PTSD, Agent Orange, or roadside bombs.
Its an honor to have served our country, and thanks to all who served!
