- "What would you know of struggle, Perfect Son?
When have you fought against the mutilation of your mind?
When have you had to do anything more than tally compliances and polish your armour?" [...] "
The people of your world named you Great One.
The people of mine called me Slave.
Which one of us landed on a paradise of civilization to be raised by a foster father, Roboute?
Which one of us was given armies to lead after training in the halls of the Macraggian high-riders?
Which one of us inherited a strong, cultured kingdom?
And which one of us had to rise up against a kingdom with nothing but a horde of starving slaves?
Which one of us was a child enslaved on a world of monsters, with his brain cut up by carving knives?
Listen to your blue-clad wretches yelling of courage and honour, courage and honour, courage and honour.
Do you even know the meaning of those words?
Courage is fighting the kingdom which enslaves you, no matter that their armies outnumber yours by ten-thousand to one.
You know nothing of courage.
Honour is resisting a tyrant when all others suckle and grow fat on the hypocrisy he feeds them. You know nothing of honour."
Angron addressing Roboute Guilliman during the Shadow Crusade

Excellent voice acting. Captured Angron's rough ferocity and warrior ethos perfectly with a compelling line of dialogue.
Thank You!
Angron sounded rather Gaelic...
@@Archangel_Kali It sounds a lot like Welsh, to me. Not quite Gaelic, but you're right in that there's definitely Celtic in there.
TOTALLY!! This voice for Angron shares similarities with Angron's voice in the audio drama "Butcher's Nails," where David Timson voices him. You can practically feel the unimaginable rage boiling within Angron, yet there's also hints of damaged nobility that often surfaces.
When you hear the villan speech and he has a point
Angron is not a villain, he's just angry.
...I missed the point. Feel free to elaborate. Angron is literally just angry and depressed.
Girlyman preachs about courage and honor, when he’s never had any sort of challenge in his life. He grew up knowing nothing of fighting the underdog fight yet he preaches the hypocrisy of courage of honor. While angron grew as a slave knowing nothing besides pain and agony while he listens to rouboute preach to him, listening to him say he isnt courageous. That would make any person angry
@@whiterunguard4925 You don't need to have had a shitty upbringing in order to know about Honor and Courage. The only reason why Angron reacts the way he does is because the nails prevents him from accessing the "good part" of his brain. Unfortunately the brains mostly just makes him come across as a massive cry baby who hates his brothers because they didn't have it as shit as he had it. Angron was designed to be alot like Vulkan. Which shows very nicely in his Primarch book where he takes the pain and suffering of others onto himself.
KaptenBear 13 you don’t need a shitty upbringing but girlyman not only was a favorite by his dad but didn’t really need to have courage because he used his tactical skills to win battles not his own prowess in battle. Tbh angron is totally justified in his fall to chaos and big e was big stupid.

@@yeaht3798 like him or not. Bobby G knows how to run shit and have it moving like a well oiled machine. I mean He had a empire before The Emperor even showed up. All the others save for Dorn, just took over their planet. Minus Angron cause he is just a stupid brute. And his fan boys are gonna blame the nails but Let's be real. He was always gonna be a angry beserker meant for the ugly in the trenches fighting. He didn't give a fuck bout strategy, politics, hell even the casualties of his own legion. Just wanted it taken over in 37 hours or it was decimation time. But anyways Tonite gets a bad rep cause of the lame ultra marine smurf memes. If they would read the current books about Gulliman leading the imperium in the latest books. He is excellent at what he does. But he's not flashy or have something extreme about him. He is just steady rock and probably only him and Dorn who if one of the more popular primarchs came back and was given the position of being leader of imperium. They be dumb to not make Robute their right had man. Man not only knows war, but what to do to set up the planet was completed, get logistics worked out, set up the local governments, handle rebuilding, and having the most men to garrison new planets, which would allow them to teach the locals how to defend themselves and get the Imperial guard started and teach them how to train men and what they need to train them to be successful regiments. Dorn would be good too but he just lacks that political manner, he is too blunt and cabt be the middle man and mend struggles between to regions of the new planet and unite them without have to do it be force. Gulliman would know what he had to do to moderate and genius enough to tell them everything they wanna hear but without them knowing, either talk then into peace or he just removed them from office and put in new heads of state while he had them occupied on each other.
Oh and spoliers if you read the books or you looking to start. If not then continue. I loved the way he kept the high lords of Terra thinking they were sneaking around getting the better of Gulliman and setting up to take him down since they hate not being the bosses anymore. Gulliman knew theirs plans all along but just lets them keep doing what they doing so he can reveal all the traitors involved in this. Haha is so funny that they think the plan is working perfectly and no body suspects. These idiots think they are out smarting a PRIMARCH! A literal demi God but they so arrogant cause they haven't had to listen to anyone tell them what to do for so long they thought they were untouchable. Well bad news. Hopefully when the next primarch comes it's like the Loin or Russ im pretty positive the high lords cause gonna be missing a head soon especially if they find out that they been plotting to overthrow and or kill him. Russ especially will kill everyone who played a part in it for sure. Lion would to but I just rather see russ do it.

If Angron truely hated the nails he wouldn't have let all his sons use it too. But he did, and after that he didn't give a fuck about any of the planets he brought to compliance, he just rip and teared everyone, not minding if they were overlords or slaves like he had been
The emperor could have come down from the ship and help angron and earned his loyalty but instead he just takes him and let's his friends died.
Lol, like Emps actually wanted him to become a Daemon of Khorne. "Screw Sanguinius, he dead, I'm proud of You, Son!" 😅

@@CountKibblesNBits thats why while Angron is talked down upon by most people and said to be the worst primarch thus a bad character I feel thats the point. He’s what happens when a primarch gets a bad hand just like a normal person he had potential but life continuously gave him less. He didn’t get to find books or knowledge like other primarchs, he was a slave from childhood then had his brain cut up. He’s a failure because thats what he’s meant to show a primarch for all their demi god status can fail. He can be pretty one dimensional because the nails but his story is not as bad as people make it out to be. Its a necessary thing for the setting and him turning traitor was basically going to happen when he was kidnapped by the emperor I don’t buy into the whole “traded one master for another” he viewed the emperor as a hypocrite and at least the chaos gods were completely true to themselves and the least deceitful khorne. He sold his soul as a final spit in the face as he was supposed to be dying soon of brain cancer anyway
@@christopherandersson5082 The way I always read it his apotheosis to Deamonhood was forced on him by his brother, Lorgar, because Lorgar knew about his terminal condition, cared for his brother, and to repay Angron for catching a Titan's foot for him.
Saddest thing to me will always be that before the Nails he had the ability to take away others pain... after the nails he could barely hold a thought that didn't involve violence due to the fact the Nails had become so engrained into his brain that even if they were removed he'd be left a vegetable.
Nails took away the best part of Angron, and his father forcing him to abandon his only comrades at Nuceria, made Angron stop fighting the Nails eating at him.
Even if Emperor couldn't save him from the Nails, he still could have helped save him from himself and save others of what Angron would become.

@@JRBDWD the emperor had good intentions when he started. But he became obsessed. He tried to make everyone quit believing int gods to attempt to starve them. And he could have done much more to save the imperium. How could he not predict someone like angron betraying him. The emperor was well aware of the chaos gods, khorne especially. Lorgar was another mistake. He should have put him down early on. He should have known they would turn on him. But his actions just made it worse. He didn't have to pick up just angron. He could have saved them all. There have been some examples of the emperor acting like his son's were mere tools. He made them to be his weapons, and expected them to act like automatons. If that isn't arrogance, I don't know what is. I'm not saying the emperor is bad. I'm saying that he may be the best, but he's still human, and suffers from human failings.
We should also keep in mind that 2 primarchs are already erased for being out of big e's control and the rest of his sons might have not taken it very well. So if the Emperor continued this course of getting rid of his problematic sons would eventually lead to the Heresy no matter what. Angron, Lorgar and Curze were clearly liabilities to say the least. However killing another 3 on top of 2 already missing would render the wholw primarch project a total failure. Very nice acting btw
This is indescribable. It's amazing how well Brian Cox captures the essence of Angron, I especially love the vague hint of a Gaelic accent that your performance has. Just so good.
Thank You
If the Emperor had just deployed the Astartes to aid Angron and the slaves against the slaver army, he would have had Angron's undying loyalty.
That part is really sketchy. I think if Angron was free of the nails, maybe he could be convinced to stay loyal. Not because he cared for his father, but maybe because he cared about the innocents of the imperium at large, and maybe he would decide that emperors tyranny is better than the tyranny of chaos gods. Those damn nails butchered my boi Angron :,(
I love the voice for Angron, it suits him perfectly. Regal yet brutish
Thank You!
Me too! It reminds me of the voice for Angron in "Butcher's Nails," where it mixes the unnatural rage with noble aspects
I read brutish as british.

@@ProfessionalRtard It demonstrates nothing other than political acumen when the result is already given.
@@Ibian666 keep coping.
If you think about it, Angron and Roboute Guilliman are two sides of the same coin in many ways. Both of the planets the two primarchs were raised on are based on the Roman Republic/Empire. Although, both planets represent the good and bad sides of the ancient roman civilization. Roboute was a prince and Angeron a slave. Both have their perspective on courage and honor as is stated in the video. But what seperates them is there life.
Angeron has a right to be pissed off at everyone. Out of all the primarchs, he truly understands the real meaning courage and honor. Unlike the the Imperium who lives off a sort idealistic mentality. The Emperor abducts Angeron after being rejected and this adds an extra pound of salt to the already gaping wound. He is a sympathetic character who hates the hypocrisy that yhe Imperium makes up.
And yet he doesnt learn and become a better man than just being this. Like yeah he had it rough but what about the lives of the other Primarchs didnt they have hardships?
Roboute was right about him, instead of being a leader and looks to finding something for him, he is just another idiot who looks to the past for justitications on the who's and why's, just look at how he fights wars, no plans, no strategies just outnumber them all or die trying and with no plans for logistics as some of them especially in his rebellion in Nuceria, died to hunger and other related deaths, like come on Angron, really? and dont even use the Nails excuse for this one as he can control it because if he didnt he would have not started the rebellion.
He has many chances under the Emperor to prove that he is more, atone for his mistakes as to why the rebellion failed and even prove to the Emperor that even though The Emperor hates him for some unknown reason and abducts, he is not going to do the same thing to his sons or to himself even more, nails or no nails, a big fuck you to the Emperor and also a very plus as Khorne would not fuck with him as he is not the Manchild that he was suppose to be but a mature and responsible person.
I can even hear the voice of what he will say to the Emperor, "Even Though I am a barbarian and a savage, at least I have The FUCKING DECENCY TO ACTUALLY CARE FOR MY SONS AND NOT WHAT YOU INTENDED ME TO BE".
Heck it would even help him mature, i can picture him as Old Man Kratos.
@@reximingan9420 That does makes sense and you are correct, there should have been a different way of dealing with this problem.
You are also right about the other primarchs as well. Night Haunter is an exellent example of your statement as well as Mortarion.
@@reximingan9420 what are you even talking about, his literal brain is mutilated with a thingy that makes him feel pleasure when he slays, you think what's left of his brain meat allows for complex strategims, diplomatic planning, compassion and critical thought at all times? Do you know how hard it must be to even concentrate on any given thing with the nails biting at your skull at every moment? Even the novel this excerpt comes from explains this. And the only people he cared about in this universe are dead, you can't just expect him to go "oops well, time to form new bonds with people I don't know that are completely froma different place from people I literally grew up with". Name any other primarch who had ALL, as in EVERY SINGLE one of the people they grew up with dye. ALL the primarchs that grew up and faught along side normals humans had atleast several of those humans genetically enhanced to basic immortality beside angron. In a way, most primarchs got to keep their humanity in the form of bonds with base line humans they got to spend the first years of their lives with. But no no, not angron, not angron the slave. That plus the nails, again his brain meat has literally been butchered. You expect too much from one man, demigod or not. Of all the primarchs angron was done the most dirty, atleast from what we know, again I sort of 20 percent think we dont have the full story of what actually happened, I don't really know how much I can trust the remembrances of a man with butchered brain meat, we haven't seen the emperor's side of the story really, but from what we have seen, angron is the victim here I what the emperor did to him. Just in the context of what the emperor did to him, I'm not excusing him killing innocent people. But like all preaches have done that.
@@jertdw3646 it has been shown that Angron had empathy and healing powers, he could feel the pain and fear of others before the nails, and after those abominations were forced on him the first man he had to kill in a blind rage was is own mentor and foster father.

You know what would have been a glorious way to make Angron a Loyalist? The Emperor coming to Nuceria and meeting with Angron for the first time on the eve of the final battle, only to see the Butcher's Nails in his skull for the first time and fly into a rage, releasing a psychic shout that could be felt in orbit and all across the planet, with everyone hearing something different as their brains interpreted the psychic noise of the Emperor's countless personas bombarding their minds all at once. Some people wouldn't even hear words; they'd hear shouts and roars that no human throat could make echoing in their skulls, deafening thunder, howling windsb sonic booms, and God only knows what else, all conveying a kind of rage that would shock even the most ancient Bloodthirsters of Khorne. But Angron? He'd be standing right there, at ground zero, and he'd hear what actually came out of the Emperor's mouth:
*_"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SON?!!"_*
What follows is the Emperor going out ahead of Angron's terrified army and personally demonstrating to the people of Nuceria what has made them all shit their collective long Johns. The Custodes don't even bother trying to defend him, because even they haven't seen the Emperor this infuriated before, and they're convinced nothing short of an Exterminatus could slow him down.

Angron is one of many tragic stories in 40k. A noble warrior with a stout heart reduced to a perpetually enraged beast.
This was the quote that solidified the angry boy as my favorite Primarch and 40k character, voice wasn’t what I expected tho, still like it
"I am loyal, the same as you. I am told to bathe my Legion in the blood of innocents and sinners alike, and I do it, because it is all that’s left for me in this life. I do these things, and I enjoy them, not because we are moral, or right - or loving souls seeking to enlighten a dark universe - but because all I feel are the Butcher’s Nails hammered into my brain. I serve because of this “mutilation”. Without it? Well, perhaps I might be a more moral man, like you claim to be. A virtuous man, eh? Perhaps I might ascend the steps of our father’s palace and take the slaving bastard’s head."
The Night of the Wolf exchange had so much philosophical gravitas, Angron pegged the whole universe for what it was.
Okay, I humbly ask for a series of this. Orations from each Primarch.
That's the plan.
i second that please
I have listened to this several times now, and when I hear the raised voice part "AND WHICH ONE OF US" I can see Angron pounding his chest as he's just screaming at what is undoubtedly a neutral faced Guiliman.
When you see what a monster Angron becomes, his words ring hallow, tragic and true in many ways yet hallow.
I mean.. his plan was to just die..
Perfect voice for him. This is absolutely how I imagine him to sound. More please!
We did one for the Lion: ua-cam.com/video/rAVUw0nrJ-4/v-deo.html
Would love to do more, they were in the works, but with the current situation with GW I'm rather reluctant to work on such. Would be a shame to make it just to have them yeeted.
Angron's story saddens me. He was dealt the shittiest hand, right from birth. Attacked by Eldar as a child, growing up a gladiator slave for a kingdom that oppressed him, having his mind brutally augmented to turn him into a senseless killing machine, FINALLY managing to rebel only for The Emperor to rip him of the death he deserved, the death he worked so hard for.
And yet he's mocked by all, passed off as nothing more than the barbarian with no justification. No matter how highly everyone thinks of the other primarchs, none of them would've been able to do any different had they been in his shoes. All other primarchs had lucky starts, and in the end were treated warmly by the Emperor, with Big E spending time with each one, except Angron. If anyone truly knows what true struggle is, it's always been Angron.

Of all the versions of Angron I’ve heard this is probably my favorite. In Betrayer the reader made him sound like a sniveling child, but here he sounds like he is struggling to say the words even though he knows he can. I've heard professional voice actors attempt this and there wasn't even a comparison to be made
So idk if I commented on this but the vague Gaelic in the VA's voice is fitting seeing as his name is Angron which is just Agron with an extra N.
I like the short story where he thinks about what is worth fighting for and had a quite nice and calm chat with a dying loyalist World Eater on Istvaan III. That was the reasoning I could relate to (even if it was based on wrong asumptions).
This one is just Angron being bitter and spiteful and I fully agreed with Guilliman.
Still The voice. THE VOICE! It's brutal and violent. Bringing life to this scene.
I appreciate the emotion displayed, quite a powerful reading
Brooo this should be animated like the Death Guard Cinematic!!!
If You're regerring to the Pestilent Champion vid, I did not know how to do such at the time.
@@OfficioAudiorum I was talking about the video that the official warhammer UA-cam channel uploaded that introduced the new death guard. They should totally hire you, great work man!
Thank You!
This speech broke my Ultramarine heart.
Impressive production!
Thank You!
Lovely little speech Angron. And back before it was given on a mile high mound of dead innocents and desecrated worlds it MIGHT HAVE meant something.
But these days Guiliman and his armies HAVE fought desperate battles against 10,000 to 1 odds, usually against YOUR masters. And you no longer cast off the chains of tyrants Angron, you help impose them.
So forgive me if I am unimpressed and unmoved by your now pathetic words and wait for the Lord Commander to put this latest visage of you back where it belongs: oblivion.
the ends justify the means. Angron was right to rebel to bring the Emperor down; if people had to die for that to happen, tragic but so be it. They should embrace the rebellion. All loyalists just help to impose the Imperiums tyranny.
@@Internetbutthurt except you know... the imperium is the least worst option
@@robertoleary5470 Not really. The Tau and to a lesser degree Eldar are most benevolent factions in 40K. I play neither of those races but neither commit the atrocities the Imperium doues. Even the slavery that some of the more civil CSM legions have is at least no worse than living under the Imperium. Apart from offering defense against invaders humans would be better off under local rule in a lot of cases.
@@Internetbutthurt the ethereals sort of brainwashed the rest of the spices. And the eldear created a fourth chaos god in which some of the spices went into the web way to continue the lifestyle that did thet
@@robertoleary5470 Yes the Eldar can be blamed for slaanesh but they are definitely repenting. they society is one that doesnt really treat their members badly at all though, but in some writings i recall avatars were summoned through the sacrifice of an eldar exarch or some shit. so..sacrifices might be the extent of it...but the canon changes more often than i change my underwear; depending on the writer.
It's a fact that when Khorne first saw Angron he blushed.
.. and there we go. He ate his anger therapist. Again.
I'm here for slightly Scottish Angron
Angron could have been a giant. instead he is just a slave to Khorne now. he merely changed chain to another.
Spartcus in the Galaxy...far,far away...
I bless you with my Eminence my child I shall make you my New Primarch to replace Angron
Hello Father. What brings you here ?

@@lordgeneralmilitantdeezy7550 I think so brother
I brought the audio book and was disappointed he didn't sound like this 😞
he ain't wrong
guilliman was straight up given a army and trained to be a great commander
while angron had to kill eldar as soon as he walked out his escape pod, he was then forced to fight in the arena for most of his life
you got to do guilliman's response
well if not a response directly, but I plan to do such for each primarch...just need to find the time😳
@@OfficioAudiorum I think Guilliman's answer to Lorgar's betrayal would be much more interesting.
you ever think if angron was a pokemon trainer he's just running around with 6 primeapes
If Angron finally got over his anger issues, he'll be renamed to Calmon.
*Vanished to the webway*
Angron, Mortarion and Magnus all had legitimate reason to hate the Emperor for the way he treated them. Was it right for them to do what they did? No. Is it understandable? Absolutely.
I wonder if you can have someone do the voice for Perturabo or Alpharius Omegon. Those are some of my favorite Primarchs that I think tend to get overlooked.
I'm doing a theme for each and every Primarch and I intend to have such voiced quotes to all of them;)
@@OfficioAudiorum Hell yeah
This is too good, will you do other primarchs?
Great job! The musical timing was perfect.
Greatest one yet
Angron my fav primarch
Angron is a very angry boy

That was the only ad I ever clicked on. And damn was it good.
I'd imagine this voice more for Russ than for Angron.
This wasn't even his best soliloquy in Betrayer but it's the one everyone defaults to. Go with what he says to Leman Russ during Lhorke's recollection of the Night of the Wolf.
-
"Such pretty lies! We fight for the same reasons men have always fought: for land, for resources, for wealth and for bodies to feed into the grinders of industry. We fight to silence anyone that dares draw breath and whisper a different opinion from ours. We fight because the Emperor wants every world in his hands. All he knows is slavery, painted in the inoffensive cloak of compliance. The very notion of freedom is a horror to him."
"Do we give choices to those we slaughter? A true choice? Or do we broadcast that they must throw their weapons into the fires of peace and bow down, faces pushed into the mud like beggars, thanking us for the culture we force upon them? We offer them compliance or we offer them death. How am I a traitor, wolfling? I fight as you fight, as loyal as you are. I do the tyrant’s bidding."
"You are free, Leman Russ of Fenris, because your freedom matches the Emperor’s will. For each time I wage war against worlds that threaten the Imperium’s advance, there comes another time when I am told to conquer peaceful worlds that wish only to be left alone. I am told to destroy whole civilisations and call it liberation. I am told to demand millions of men and women from these new worlds, to make them take up arms in the Emperor’s hordes, and I am told to call this a tithe, or recruitment, because we are too scared of the truth. We refuse to call it slavery."
Here have a snickers you’re not yourself when you’re hungry.
God you can just tell that if Angron didn't have the butchers nails hammered into him here he would be filled with anger and sadness to such a horrific extent that he would be sobbing as his face was twisting into a snarl as he raged against Roboute. The tragedy of Angron is a massive one. And whenever i think about it it makes me sad.
This is the best version of this
