  • Startup, tour, first impressions and review of my 2004 Nissan Murano SL AWD 3.5L V6 crossover w/Premium Package (also called the Sun and Sound Package), love this car, base grade, volume trim comes equipped with everything I want in a midsize crossover. Strong V6 power, great features and very versatile SUV. I've always wanted a Murano and this is a great example of one. Love the Silver Metallic color too. Only think I don't like is the CVT, while powerful, can be a bit finicky sometimes. Great SUV overall.

    I've got one of these but a 2006 fwd SL. I just hit 150,000 miles.
    I bought it for $3900 canadian, 2 years ago, and it had 121,000 miles on it.
    I've done a lot of maintenance. ive pretty much replaced everything but the engine and transmission. Parts aren't cheap either.
    The de-tuned 350z engine (VQ V6) is a nice touch, though.
    It has way more power than my wife's GMC 2013 Terrain awd 4cyl.
    Unfortunately, the VQ V6 is paired with a cvt...and pulling a living room around.

    Annnnd she went to a great owner! Despite some things wrong with Maureen she still runs very well and that speaks mountains about how Nissan can make a lasting car. I’m not happy they’ve cheapened out through the years but at least they continue to make very good trucks.

    I had a 2006 S AWD, CVT went out, timing sprockets failed which caused engine to lock up, and engine was burning oil before that, among other issued with the interior including the seat frames and sun visors, all before 150000 miles, they're COMPLETE MONEY PITS!

    Can you tell me what is the paint color code on this car? it is on the door jam at the bottom. I have a 2003 and it is not on mine for some strange reason.

    I'm not sure what years had transmission problems, but, they seem to have resolved the issue, in later models, what's it like as a motorway cruiser.

    • @FansandCars
      @FansandCars  3 роки тому +2

      The 2003-2007 have widespread transmission issues, 2009-2014 less widespread but still prevalent, 2015-2021 doesn’t have many issues. It’s a quiet smooth riding car with good handling and performance when the transmission does work however.

    It seems like no one else in your family wants the car, so you end up taking it home. When you showed the inside, it was surprising to see cloth seats on a high trim level instead of leather.

    • @FansandCars

      Oh believe me people wanted the car, but she wanted to give it to me instead of my 10 cousins because even though I was four hours away I drove up there every single weekend for a year to go see her and take care of her and run errands. I’ve always wanted this car and, well she ended up giving it to me and it was really sweet of her. This is a base model SL with the sun and sound package which comes with a Bose premium audio system and power tilt/slide moonroof. I love this car it’s great. Glad I got to make a tour video for you I’m glad you enjoyed it.

      @@FansandCars So how were able to take it home if it was not in the same state?

    • @FansandCars
      @FansandCars  4 роки тому +1

      It was in PA but I drove it home. In VA the police have no jurisdiction because it’s PA plates and they weren’t pulling people over because the DMV was closed for COVID. So I took the chance and ran with it.

      I love the new green color on the new Outback! I could understand why you don’t want to drive 2 hours for that car. The Frontier I wanted was red and had the V6 with a manual transmission but it was all the way in Arizona. I didn’t get it it was too far.

    • @FansandCars

    Aw man. I just committed to buying this car (same year) and it has 57K miles. Private owner, said transmission belt was replaced and no problems since. Now after watching your video i am nervous to go through with the sale. Any recommendations with maintenance to avoid further transmission problems? I am considering an extended warranty, but that’s another $3500!

    • @FansandCars
      @FansandCars  2 роки тому +3

      Instead of the recommended 30k, change the transmission fluid every 15k. That’s what I would suggest.

      The sunvisors won’t stay up, common issue with most early 2000s nissans, the right side door lock actuator went out three times, and the gas struts that lift the hood up went out.
