glad to see your taking down trees.... awesome chickens! never seen that kind before. ... good job cutting trees. ...always put a rope on tree when falling its a safety back up in case it falls wrong direction... good job u2!
Will you be putting some heat shielding on the wall behind the wood stove ??? Another idea is to use brick or stone facing behind it as it will absorb heat then if wood stove dies down, the brick/stone will still giving you heat back for several hours ! Double the purpose !
If you still have a lot of flooring to install that needs rolling, you may want to consider a plastic lawn roller. It works for flooring and the lawn too!
Greg... Look into building yourself a wood splitter that will run off the hydraulics from your tractor. I have seen it done and it makes use of power you already own . Not to mention it will save your Back from splitting. Hope this helps !
Watching from Lilburn, Georgia 🇺🇸Magnificent job y’all! With every job you conquered, the knowledge you gained, made tasks look easier. For me watching anyway,& y’all looking very professional. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe, healthy, productive, warm,& blessed.💯❤️👏🏾💜🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
Norther NJ here! Good morning Katie & Greg! No spurs? With Greg with the tree! Nice job all around the wood stove & the whole property guy’s!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings’
a little bit of a pucker factor with that tree. I would've needed something much more of a stimulant than a cigarette after that felling. thanks for the video.
Just want to let you guys know. They're on my property in Utah. We have nothing but scrub oak up there on the mountain. Not much good for anything. Has too much ash. Flyash. To really burn very well. But. Really does take care of the mud. I love cutting this stuff down at chipping it up. Gets rid of the mud really well. We'll see how well it holds up. Paroll timer I'm at. Add a tractor. Mounted chipper. And he's been doing it for years. Manny just addresses it every four years or so. I'm at Storm Mountain, Utah.
I am from Iowa, Spot on about Ditra, You have to use backer board or Ditra on floor tile, Houses breathe and move and you have to deflect that movement, I have used Ditra many times especially for transitions to wood floors. If you used grout for your transition without using Schluter( metal trim) and just raw tile to wood would result in your grout continually flaking out, you have to some kind of transition. I think that black looks great. Here is some grouting tips use the flat side of you float to take off as much grout as you can going 45 degrees to the tile, then train the lines with your sponge, make sure to let grout set up enough to fill the gap, then take your sponge at a 45 degree angle and pull off the grout 1 pull 1 side of sponge, when then turn the sponge over and do 1 pull, wring out sponge and repeat. go about 2ft or so with each pull. when you just scrub you can pull the color out of the grout. Pulling the grout off with 1 pull 1 side of the sponge will dramatically reduce grout time and you just have to use a dry towel and buff it clean after a couple of hours and your grout will look better. You guys kick ass, you are what homesteading is all about. I hope this will be helpful when you tile your bathroom.
Super tiling the rest of the lounge by the fire place and the chipping on the driveway will help with the mud good job Greg and Katie on the clean up of the tiles will look forward to your new challenges.
Hi Katie and Greg, I constantly watch your vlog but I can't seem to find them in order. I am watching at present where the house is not clad but earlier I was watching you framing the new goat barn. Also the walk to the waterfall with the goats. That is so cool to see your goats behaving just like your dogs on a walk. You have a fantastic bond with your animals. I'm watching from Camborne in Cornwall ,England by the way. I absolutely love your programs and envy your lifestyle. Long may you both enjoy it.❤
Behind fridge that wall we add a vent with grill it opened up to our hall way painted same color as wall after our motor from our fridge went out 1st time.
Yes Katie I agree with @Jimfromindy, no matter if its outside or in, the lady is the one to capture it in all its details and transfer it to us as if its natural everyday occurrence.
I actually like the black transition piece. I think it sets the tile and the wood flooring off just enough. I sure like it better than the metal stuff I have. I might have to look into a change! When you build the shelf for the kitty, make sure it has a lip so she doesn't knock her food or water off.
Another step towards finishing the house, and you chipped to limit mud. All in all a good amount of work. Our dog used to run back and forth along the fence barking at the neighbors dog. He wore a mud path and constantly was covered in mud. I got tired of washing a 95 pound German Shepard covered in mud. So I wood chipped the whole path. Wood chips are magical things.
The black trim looks good. and so does the tiling, great job getting the tree down, but for all the chipping it didn't go far enough, at least you won't be bringing loads of mud indoors
@@ThisOffGridLife --That's why I suggested they could drop them off at your front entrance to your drive/road. You could drive your tractor down and load up your trailer.
for on the wall right behind the wood stove, I would put so old steal that has a little rust on it ware on it and it would make it look really sharp but its just an idea
I have been places that put down sawdust to cover mud and it seems helpful at first but just keeps the ground wet longer. Ended up raking sawdust off to allow mud to dry. Wooden walkways with gaps for drainage work better close to house. Chips are great for composting and soil amendment
No heading for Porto Rica for you two... very hard working but very in love and happy couple. I am getting tired of snow as we have had over twelve feet so far and more coming... looking so nice in there kids
My fridge is the same set upas yours and it’s been like that for 12 years and it’s been no problem and we run it at -18 for the freezer and at +1 for the fridge and it’s worked great never had any problems at all with it so yours should be fine. Greg the superman we’ll pick it up it only weighs about 420lbs. Then he picks it up and says where do you want it! Hahaha Only wish loads of others had the mindset and work ethic of you two, it’s people like you two who show others how to get on and get it done.
Need to fix the creaking in the floor because of the give, it can cause the the grout to twist and crack. Just an fyi from a been there done that viewer.
Great job on the tiling. Greg mentions 18 degrees in the house and he's wearing a short sleeve shirt. That is hardcore. It's all coming into shape and looking cozy.
Out here in Oregon I use a 3” minus to eliminate the mud. Then some 3/4” minus to seal it. Works so much better than chips. 😊 Why didn’t you save the log for lumber to build the new shop? 😁
You two did a great job knocking over the tree and chipping everything to not have so much mud to deal with as you move about the driveway area. The tile and transition sure are making your house look so cozy.
Fill and hugelkulture makes good use of wood chips. Just remember wood absorbs nitrogen before releasing it slowly. Chicken droppings are great for nitrogen. Be careful not to get wood chips too hot while green or they can catch fire.
Nice work on the chipping. Mud is the usual winter issue on a farm and wood chips look like a remedy between the farm gate and house. The tiling turned out great and just what's needed under the wood stove. All around, nice work
I just love all your creatures! I think my fave parts are when you feature the special relationship you both enjoy with them. Just so refreshing. Me and my shih tsu love to watch from Ottawa
How wonderful the housing area almost all ✅ done💫 nothing better and best of all is looking very comfy and with the wonderful view of your surrounding nature 🤗🥰
I used to use wood chips in the exercise lot for the milk cows it kept it free of mud and kept it clean it breaks down over time then you scrape it up for compost and replace with gravel or more chips from a city arborist you can usually get them free , you should also have lots of pine straw grind it up in the chipper and use it for bedding
Katie it looks very nice inside. I have a question for you. Your saw mill pieces why not use some of it like as kindling. You already have it just cut to length and split it smaller. Just a suggestion. Colville Washington here. If you ever can't get building supplies up there and I can get it for you I could meet you at the border. I am working on my passport.
Hello Greg and Katie. I like the shape of the tile around the fireplace. I did get the sink out without smashing it. My first install and zero leaks. Have good days!
Southeast Ga here. Born and raised in south Fl tho. Tile turned out great. I dont miss that wiping and wiping and wiping to get that haze off. Wish me luck, I'm getting ready to get on my kitchen floor.
Good morning! It's been a while since we asked, where is everyone watching from?
Hell, Michigan. Yes that's the real name.

It didn't take Katy long to become addicted to chips. I love them myself. We have that super slicky mud here.
Sitting here in Citrus Heights CA. My 9 month old beagle likes watching your dogs and so do I.
Northern Ontario where we just came out of -30 to -40…I understand the love of a good fire in the wood stove! Great work and wonderful place.

Ocean View Hawaii, watching your adventure and abode unfold, good job Kiddo's. Aloha Nui Loa😆
The fire stove looks so pretty on the tile. The house is looking so finished. I know you two are the hardest workers I have ever seen.
You came a long way in building your house its getting nicer every time ...Congrats
G'day from Down Under. Good to see Australia represented in the Blue Heeler cattle dog.
You need to put down driveway cloth to stop the gravel and chips from sinking into the mud.
That would be costly! I have looked into it. We might do it around the 🏠
Norther NJ here! Good morning Katie & Greg! No spurs? With Greg with the tree! Nice job all around the wood stove & the whole property guy’s!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻Blessings’
See, I told ya, that chipper is soooo nice!! Lol 😆 🤣 All the ground cover, the erosion control, beautification. Love ya'll ❤️

Sitting here in Michigan in front of our woodstove watching you guys install tile, relaxing.
We have three dogs an I love it when you interact with boo boo❤
Great job on the tiling and flooring. The place looks great and everything is coming together nicely. You two work well together.
Very cool dropping that gigantic tree! Chips here we come!!

Wow... you've had a lot of melting. That floor looks like a million bucks too.
just for the record you should give us a tour of the other trailers on the property and how the privacy wall is covering up ???
Have you tried calling the power company tree trimmers to see if they could drop off some free wood chips at your front entrance.❤❤❤❤
We are way in the woods, I doubt they would drive all the way up here
@@ThisOffGridLife --That's why I suggested they could drop them off at your front entrance to your drive/road. You could drive your tractor down and load up your trailer.
Greg needs a pair of tree climbing spurs! Also, really grateful for the stove pipe tutorial!
for on the wall right behind the wood stove, I would put so old steal that has a little rust on it ware on it and it would make it look really sharp but its just an idea
There's this little gadget that fits on bar and measures length of each bucked log,,all come out equal
can hardly wait for the accent wall behind wood stove
