Question? If I have a folder I'd like to bring into Rekordbox that has a mix of RnB, Hip Hop and Rap, can I then create a Tag for each and a smart folder for each and Rekordbox will automatically organise them? Thanks for your awesome videos, I find them easy to understand and use.
Greetings. Im just wondering, intelligent playlist only filters from your entire collection. Or is it possible to filter from a smaller self created playlist? Thanks in advance.
It seems that you cannot push the Tag List button on the CDJ and get a list of tags you created in the My Tag panel. So that means the Tag List is only functional from the CDJ itself allowing you to tag tracks on the unit -but tags you setup in Rekordbox don't show up there at all. Is this limited to the CDJ-900NXS unit I have? I get the idea of creating Intelligent playlists for 'My Tag' so you COULD brows them on the CDJ - but that is going to clutter up playlists I have that already exist? Or am I missing something?
you confuse 2 things that are named tags (I admit, pioneer should have done a better job). 1) you can tag songs (=marking them to play later) - that is the button on the CDJ which is not in RB I believe. 2) you can use mytags which you can assign in rekordbox and filter on in the CDJ.
@@DexxterClarkMusic Yes I'm saying you cannot pull up a list of tags created in 'My Tag' within RB using the 'Tags' button on the CDJ which I think is a mistake on Pioneers part. The 'Tags' button feature on the CDJ is only temporary. They should make My Tag - tags available from that very button. I did a lot more digging to find out that you CAN filter/get 'My Tags' to come up on the older CDJ's that don't have the 'filter' button (I use the CDJ-900NXS) (by making sure that the post to comments option is selected in the RB preferences) Then you can on the CDJ select 'TRACKS' then push the 'MENU' button and brows by comment of each track. The issue here is that It is just one HUGE list of comments though - what it I think Pioneer needs to do is make all your created tags in 'My Tag' show up like categories/list format on the CDJ so you can select your created My Tag categories - IE: 'Uplifting tracks' and get a list of tracks with that tag. The earlier CDJ's do not have a 'filter' button so the was I just described above is the only way to do it on these older units.
@@ZacharySound This is pretty much how I **thought** the MyTags function would work - like a long list of terms (tags) that you can label your tracks with - and THEN be able to filter using those terms on a CDJ/XDJ. It seems, from your comment, that this is not the case. This has me wondering what the actual point of MyTags is? It seems like they actually serve no purpose other than when used to create even MORE playlists!
What is the advantage of using the MyTags labels as the criteria for filling the Intelligent Playlist? Why wouldn't you just use the Genre column to correctly label your tracks, and then use the Genre criteria to fill the intelligent playlists? Perhaps I have misunderstood the purpose of the MyTags function? Is it possible to filter using MyTags using the CDJ/XDJ units?
You could use them as genre indeed, but also to tag elements in a song or emotion. Like: Dark, calm etc. Or: vocals, synthesizer. For example: When you are spinning and search for a song with a synthesizer in it because it connects well to your current song.
