This would be a good way for Pokemon to test which cards are "chase cards" before printing. They can see what people like the most, to make sure every set in the future has a good chase.
The possibility of the cards getting printed and only attainable for those who own the digital copies is the lone deciding factor of wether to download the app or not

What I’d eventually like them to do is that if you pull a card, you have the chance to get that as a physical promo in the future but have it locked one per household/i.p. address etc Just have regular checks in place and I think it would do a world of god to stop scalping situations of promos from happening again (van gogh, special delivery cards etc). I am in agreement with you Opossum. Tbh, I doubt these cards will ever be physical cards, just looking at the art direction, the cards themselves are meant for the game. I won't be surprise if the design of the cards(reflective borders) get moved to physical cards. Fun fact: 1 pack is $1. If you want to max out the amount of packs/ money per day it will be $150. If Pokemon wanted to knock it out of the park, they should allow you to order a physical card if you own the digital one. Of course, that's not the purpose of this app/service, but that's how you could bring together both the digital and physical world together in a meaningful, fun way.

Honestly this is a bad move on Pokemon in my opinion. While the cards look cool, and they're reprinting some old cards, it could hurt the hobby. I feel like getting people to stray from the original TCG is a bad move, it can hurt the TCG and move in the direction of making it be less popular, because more people will be playing this other game, and you can't put all your energy into all these things. That Golbat is dope! I can honestly see them releasing these physically in like a year or two as a special set. It would get the people that are introduced into Pokemon through the app into the actual cards. It’s pretty much just printing money at that point.
I honestly haven't really seen anyone hating on the art, everything looks real good lol. I also would be shocked and disappointed if they didn't release at least some of these physically as promos, stuck into other sets, or (ideally) their own special set. I get that they want to sell the app but printing these cards most likely wouldn't hurt it, especially when they can do special fancy digital stuff. If anything, it'd draw more attention to the app and give them a great set to sell for more money. I don't see a negative for TPC lol
I'm honestly excited for this. Not just the art but getting into playing it in a different way. I love playing the physical game but i'm not super extroverted enough to play it with other people so this is going to be great for me. Yes, I also know the TCG online is a thing, i do play it as well but not the mobile version (I play desktop). Sure it could be a money grab but what isn't these days... People vote with their dollars so we'll see eventually how it goes. For me, i'm excited.
@@OpossumBud I think they wanted to do something like Marvel Snap or that Yugioh app that's separate from their main app with the "real" rule set. Battles lasting like 3-5 minutes rather than 15-20. TPCi would need to hand over Live's control over to TPC and then they'd need to have an entirely new section on the already janky Live app and make sure all the code cards give us both regular cards and the new rule set cards too ... and then start printing those code cards for TPC and TPCk regions since those are only a thing for TPCi at the moment
It would be really cool to get some of these cards as some kind of small special set, but since mobile games are usually aggressively monetized and print money, I don’t think Pokémon would take away a big aspect of what makes the mobile game unique

I just like having the physical cards in binders. But I bet you £3 someone will be doing that and selling them.
Pro tip: trading card game simulator, just came out like a week ago. It’s a Pokémon rip off , called tetromon. You can open your own card shop and rip packs, they JUST added a speed feature to open packs. It does cost $12.99 I think, I’m in no way affiliated but it’s a pretty dope game and MAN does it scratch the itch to open packs!! You can open 100s or 1000s of packs or booster boxes!! And I mean the physical market is already able to be manipulated, idk if digital assets will make it better or worse. And then once tpc has rinsed it’s whales, in a few years they’ll probably release the art in physical
But you don't have to spend your money if you don't want to.. as a sealed collector, I think it's going to be fun to rip some packs again and play, be responsible, invest if you like, you can trade cards as well with friends and loved one's. You don’t have to buy booster boxes or packs either, but people do and the monetization factor will be there in full force. How you feel about it is separate from the fact that it will exist and be present moving forward if successful. I’m not a fan of that personally and physical cards and media all the way, but each their own.
Hmmmm…. You can trade???? lol…. 😂 now I wonder if I can make some money off “trading” any cool cards I get in free daily packs…. 💩… I might have to download this 😂 🤫🤫
@@OpossumBud it's always there when you're a fan, I agree physical copies of things are better, this is just fun to. And imagine this, pokemon cards with no PSA grade baby yeah just good old fashion cards. Look open the packs and have fun collecting more free cards and trading with your friends If you can get past the fact of monetization you'd see this has alot of good going for it, especially for some kids who don't get packs for weeks well now here's a cool free way to open packs heck maybe next allowance they'll use it towards the game.. Idk That's all I got virgins we'll see where it goes Wow monetization can you believe it, take me back to Oct 96 baby that's when cards were cards
I’m only downloading it for the free packs. I will not toss any money into digital cards because there won’t be a market for it and I prefer physical cards
Imagine this - letting people order a single physical copy based on cards they have pulled themselves This would mean every card has an "original owner" so if you trade it/acquire by trading (with their yet to be released trading feature) you can't order a physical copy this would encourage people to open packs themselves so TPCi gets more money and it would encourage collectors to do it so they can get these rare physical copies
I'm shocked it's taken them this long to bring out something like this I still remember like 10 years ago Topps Trading cards having a bunch of reskins of different IPs with the whole purpose of digital collecting. I'll probably still give the app a try just on the basis of opening free packs and the Art does look nice.
I think pokemon really missed the mark in two ways with pocket: 1. NFTs were big like 2 or 3 years ago. Now they are a bad joke. 2. They should have geared this product to the an older fan base and let people sell/trade to others on the app. It would really give people an incentive to basically "gamble" by buying packs and sell a huge hit for profit or trade it for alot of other decent hits they may go up in value. Of course I realize pokemon wants to make money but could care less if others have a chance to off their product. Either way pocket will be successful kinda because pokemon...but it's a pretty dated app in that most people don't care about a digital copy of some random card and playing a lite version of the same old pokemon tcg.
Some of the art is hella good, but doesn’t really care about collecting them unless they turn them physical one day. I just want to do the duels tbh 🤷🏻♂️
I was pretty excited for the app, cards look really good. Then I found out that you couldn't scan the QR codes from physical packs and all the other typical live service traps and I just kind of fell off just days ago. The reveal and leadup made it sound like it was gonna be a more simplified version of TCG game with its own set of cards which it kind of is but I thought you could still use it as a kind of compliment to your physical purchases. I've never in my 30+ years of gaming paid for a digital-only collectable and I'm not about to start.
Wouldn't it have been better if they made these exclusive illustration rares harder to get in the game, and if you can pull one you could redeem for a physical copy
I don't hate the idea, I'd just rather have physical too. They need to put purchase limits in place. And if they're the same price as regular booster packs, then they can go to hell. No more than £0.99 per pack or I'm not paying at all.
I was thinking that too. If there was some that you could get as physicals some how would be cool, but don't look forward to spending money on digital for a chance to get physical. Buy sick cards, I like holding my shit in my hands.
@@OpossumBud who is to say. They can use this as a free guide/statistic to see what the customers like before printing. They already look better than any modern cards I have seen printed. Ill wager a Booster Pack on it

This is just Cryptozoo with less controversy. Has the sparkling appeal of Pokemon, the smirk of gambling and the stench of NFTs. It isn't even right to call it part of the TCG, the game mechanics are inherently different, it is its own game unto itself. I'll try it, but no way would I be spending money on this.
this what code cards should get you
Code cards already get you packs in TCG Live. I open them all the time

If you can get past the fact of monetization you'd see this has alot of good going for it, especially for some kids who don't get packs for weeks well now here's a cool free way to open packs heck maybe next allowance they'll use it towards the game.. Idk That's all I got virgins we'll see where it goes
Wow monetization can you believe it, take me back to Oct 96 baby that's when cards were cards
I’m only downloading it for the free packs. I will not toss any money into digital cards because there won’t be a market for it and I prefer physical cards
Imagine this - letting people order a single physical copy based on cards they have pulled themselves
This would mean every card has an "original owner" so if you trade it/acquire by trading (with their yet to be released trading feature) you can't order a physical copy
this would encourage people to open packs themselves so TPCi gets more money
and it would encourage collectors to do it so they can get these rare physical copies
What a waste to not have these beautiful arts in card form! They look incredible 👌
I'm shocked it's taken them this long to bring out something like this I still remember like 10 years ago Topps Trading cards having a bunch of reskins of different IPs with the whole purpose of digital collecting. I'll probably still give the app a try just on the basis of opening free packs and the Art does look nice.
I think pokemon really missed the mark in two ways with pocket:
That’s fair criticism honestly
if we do get these as physical cards i hope they get rid of those weird boarders
They might if they ever do, and they may never bring them out. I guess we will see
you never know when they will decide to take the 'cards' away from you
Wouldn’t be the first time
Some of the art is hella good, but doesn’t really care about collecting them unless they turn them physical one day. I just want to do the duels tbh 🤷🏻♂️
We Love Bobby Hill!!
Love your PFP
@@OpossumBud Scyther gang for life. always been my favorite. I want that scyther u have xD
The TCG version looks fun. It goes back to the basics without the power creep but I don’t plan on spending money on it
The community around this will be a lot like counter strike chests
I was pretty excited for the app, cards look really good. Then I found out that you couldn't scan the QR codes from physical packs and all the other typical live service traps and I just kind of fell off just days ago. The reveal and leadup made it sound like it was gonna be a more simplified version of TCG game with its own set of cards which it kind of is but I thought you could still use it as a kind of compliment to your physical purchases. I've never in my 30+ years of gaming paid for a digital-only collectable and I'm not about to start.
That Alakazam is incredible
Wouldn't it have been better if they made these exclusive illustration rares harder to get in the game, and if you can pull one you could redeem for a physical copy
I wish they would go back to the OG holos like we had when we were kids. Sometimes less is more.
Honestly my favorites are full arts with cosmos holo. Best of both worlds lol
I disagree personally we have better cards now then when we did as a kid 🤷🏽♂️ we’re in the golden age of card art
NFTCG…..😂
😂
I don't hate the idea, I'd just rather have physical too. They need to put purchase limits in place. And if they're the same price as regular booster packs, then they can go to hell. No more than £0.99 per pack or I'm not paying at all.
got to play it this morning, it's a crime that ptcgl, the client to play the actual tcg, doesn't look anything as good as this game.
Well that’s a right shame, I’ll still give it a shot to verify but damn
So …. NFTs. Got it.
Not too far off
@@OpossumBud who’s to say they don’t hold the better artworks for pocket and give us lesser artworks in physical media 🤷🏻♂️
I was thinking that too. If there was some that you could get as physicals some how would be cool, but don't look forward to spending money on digital for a chance to get physical. Buy sick cards, I like holding my shit in my hands.
@@dr.dorkeshideout644 it has pump and dump written all over it.
At least you can sell nfts..
Hate that everyone trying to push digital everything... beautiful art tho! 🔥
I’m not even bothering with this app I’ll just download the art which is beautiful I do wish we get the physical cards someday though
Alakadayummmm wtf that got me bricked up
I bet you they release these in hard copy form later next year
They probably won’t honestly, but it is the Pokémon company so never say never
@@OpossumBud who is to say. They can use this as a free guide/statistic to see what the customers like before printing. They already look better than any modern cards I have seen printed. Ill wager a Booster Pack on it
I think theres a couple cards that look pretty good like the gengar specifically but im honestly not the biggest fan of most of the arts idk why maybe its the digital aspect but it just gives me AI vibes on the backgrounds for some of them. I will still give it a fair shot though!
The gengar goes crazy ngl
It’s cool
This is just Cryptozoo with less controversy. Has the sparkling appeal of Pokemon, the smirk of gambling and the stench of NFTs. It isn't even right to call it part of the TCG, the game mechanics are inherently different, it is its own game unto itself. I'll try it, but no way would I be spending money on this.
You ain’t wrong
I’ll get it and open the free booster packs artwork looks cool
Yeah I’ll check it out and give it a fair shake we shall see
If this game catches up, they might make the physical set.
Or they wont make any physical art at all anymore
The artwork should’ve been the artwork for 151
