idk man, it matters, bigly. the next generation of pokemon gamblers (my kids) prefer english 99/100 times. they'd be buyers at 50% pack value vs english likely. i've got a massive set of japanese that i collected alongside 1st ed base/unlimited - the only reason i have those, is because they were available and cheaper. i'm guessing, you've got some available, and cheap japanese cards, hence your bias 🤣
@@never_wrong ok and that's fine, we are allowed to justify our actions. I'm a speculator making money so my kids can rip and collect. As a collector, not an investor, i really enjoy the qulity of the japanese far more. The depth of the texture is far superior, english can be frustrating when you finally pull an SIR and it looks like my blind dog works at the factory centering the cards. Why is the Japanese centering always so much better? How is one factory so much better than the other?
@OpossumBud oh, i had no idea, you'd think a thicker card could have more texture. It's not just better texture though. Compare the new Latias card, the English didn't even try to have the texture
Its simply following the market trends.... Pump, dump, pivot, and repeat. Reminds me of when people where chasing the fatchu from VV. I’ve been grabbing Japanese Sun and Moon cards that I’m missing while everyone is focused on English. Let the 151 chads have English and stay over there 👉

Most japanese cards are beautiful. Even Chinese cards are spectacular. I don't usually buy them unless they are exclusive though. Collecting for me is about getting personal grails and things i think are top tier. The problem with modern is that they are so up and down. For now I'm focusing on vintage, where prices are more stable. In a couple years I'll pick up more modern stuff.

cool, but korean writing and chinese writing is ugly on a card, and im not the only one that thinks that. if thats all the cash you have im not knocking you, its just the same excuse i've heard since 1999 (same art).
I think of Pokemon cards as currency for each country. so English pokemon cards are equivalent to the US dollar.... people will exchange for US dollar at a loss. Japanese Pokemon cards are literally 2:1 in terms of price. For example The japanese Greninja psa 10 is like 200 bucks. The English Greninja is touching almost 700 dollars +. Same with Chinese, indonesian, korean... they are all cheap unless its a prize card like the Victini from indonesia prize card that is unique illustration rare.
I feel like sellers on whatnot flooded the American market with Japanese products and single cards when they were looking for a cheaper option for things to rip on stream and in return it left people with a bunch of Japanese product in cards that they cannot recoup on hence wanting prices to go up.I’m sure a lot of suckers got stuck with product Or bought hundreds of ar/sar’s cause a seller on whatnot told them they can make 100k/month selling Japanese singles for 2$ each without mentioning that the sellers in Japan selling to them are also on eBay charging 1$ with free shipping 😢😂
