There aren't 22 functional gears in a 2x11. Adding a second chain ring in the front is equivalent to adding about 3 or 4 gears in the back. So 1x12 is like the 2x9 transmissions we had in the Lance era. I think it's plenty of range.

I did have to replace the narrow wide jockey wheel in the rear mech as it seemed to be a bit too wide for the 12 speed flat top chain, but other than that it's been a pleasure to ride. The conversion was super easy, and even used the install video as a guide to remove the unneeded shift mechanism in the left shifter, leaving just the brake lever.
@@yamdrew Hi, I'm in the same boat. I'm going for 46T with XG-1270 10-36T can you confirm that I can use Sram Force 1x3.0 11 speed rear derailleur without swapping out the cable fin? If that's the case all I need to do is replace the shifter ratchet? Can you please provide the part number for the replacement jockey wheels? Does ratio sell just the shifter ratchet conversion kit?
Great video, thanks for making it. I have 10 speed SRAM road shifters. Do you think the modification piece for the shifters could turn a 10 speed shifter into a 12 speed shifter, as it does with 11 speed? This would save me having to buy an 11 speed or 12 speed shifter outright. Thanks
I’m not sure. I would ask them! I heard people doing 11 speed to 10 speed shifters. So in theory it should be the same for 12 speed ratchet.
@@LockedinCycling I can’t believe it!! I just got a reply from Ratio and they confirmed that my SRAM s700 hydro 10 speed road shifters would be compatible with their 12 speed conversion! Very happy indeed as this is going to save me from having to buy new 11 speed shifters. Placing order for conversion kit this weekend!
@@TheSimonibb tell them I sent you!
How do I upgrade from Shimano road 11 speed brifters to 12 speed?
theres no easy way with shimano, youd need new shifters completely.
Can you try a sram eagle with a 2x?
It won’t work since the Rd has a clutch
Hello. The first thing to congratulate you on your videos! Question, with a sram group, how do you take what chain maeca do you advise me for the Garbaruk brand cassette? All the best

Your welcome. I’m not sure what your question is, you mean which rear derailuer to get? For the garabuk cassette you can use any of there 12 speed ones
@@LockedinCycling Hello
Sorry for my English translation.
What brand of chain do you use with the Garbaruk brand cassette?
All the best
@@christianllano7988 i used a standard 12 speed chain I got off Amazon I believe it was a ybn brand
Great job. Do i need a XD oder XDR Freehub for the 12s casette?
either works for mtb cassettes, if you have road 12 then xdr
Can someone please do this with Shimano stuff? Once again, Shimano is ages behind on the gravel train...
Gosh! We went from 20 speed 2Xs to 12 speed 1Xs. Now that’s progress! 😂
Or 24 speed 2x.
There aren't 22 functional gears in a 2x11. Adding a second chain ring in the front is equivalent to adding about 3 or 4 gears in the back. So 1x12 is like the 2x9 transmissions we had in the Lance era. I think it's plenty of range.
Can i ask, do you use XD driver hub?
Yes for this cassette it is. But they offer non xd cassettes as well as other companies
Thumbs up for gold chain. My current ride is 2x8. sad face.
You need help.
can you please do a shimano mullet stuff next time
I would love to but I dont have any shimano componets currently
👍 info, I know I mentioned already to u but this vid would be a great example for longer content!!! I really think when everyone goes back to work hopefully soon u would get more ppl to support u via patron and companies to send new/more products bc I can count with ☝️ 🤚 channels that putting in time to create this style of content!!!
Thanks! Yea some videos like this do run longer since I have alot more to cover. I hope things go back to normal for everyone, I would love to have this channel be able to support me full time.
I bet 😉. Not complaining at longer vids instead I like for some videos to be longer actually, like this one
are they now doing away with the rd hanger, leaving the rd itself to potentially snap? if that is so, then it's nothing but a knucklehead design aimed at nothing but to up the price of the mech .. just saying 😮😢
Thumbnail 'michinical' ?
Edit: my bad 'mechinical'
😂😂
There's no h in Sram people..
Pfffffff…
el ratio
You talk WAY too fast for such a conversion....
Thanks you for your comment Simon , I hope you have a wonderful day being a keyboard warrior with your comments with such constructive criticism. I thank you for your view.
Might as well just buy the 12 speed shifter
