Another tip in case you never thought of it - put that contact cleaner on a test tube brush or Q-Tip and do the input/output jacks. I think it makes a difference.
Wow, this was 7 minutes that just WHIZZED RIGHT BY! This was much more engrossing than I thought it would be. Excellent work here, sir. Thank you for this.
Just bought this same amp a few days ago in extremely good condition for $150.00! I gave the amp a good scrubbing, vacuumed all the dust out of the back, pulled the chassis and cleaned the pots. The only issue is a tear in one of the speaker cones. I found an exact replacement Scorpion speaker on EBay for another $64.00 and are waiting on it’s arrival. Even with the torn speaker cone the amp sounds amazing!!
Thanks for this. I used to have one of these amps way back in the day and somehow parted ways with it. About 10 years ago I bought an identical one off of eBay. When it arrived the volume control was unusable. I got around that by using my effects processor to control volume but always missed the Peavy sound. I did everything you did in this video and my amp looks and sounds brand new again. I really appreciate it!
@@RickyReillyMusic Unfortunately, I didn't appreciate it fully at the time. I only realised later how good it actually was. I think I'm going to track one down
scored a last year 1995 sc with master vol and scorps. Did pretty much what you did. Mine was excellent condition as well. these amps are beasts!!! on a side note, those speakers can sound blown sometimes, the foam in the hole breaks down and gets in coil channel. take magnets off and clean that channel. Also, if the amp is put down hard, it can slightly move out of alighnment and buzz as well. loosen bolts on magnet and push up on cone until no scrub ocures and tighten bolts back. I learned all this the hard way lol!!
Car cleaning leather or plastic and dash cleaner and conditioner is the best way to clean up and freshen up an old dried out looking amp and those old Peaveys are notorious for having some old dingy ashy tolex
I had a Peavey Stereo Chorus, but its speakers weren't working properly, leading to distortion. I took the backs off them (possible with Scorpions) and managed to clean them out well enough for the amp to sound ok. It had digital reverb though, and never really had a good sound. Plus, it weighed a ton, so i sold it.
Let me capitalize this statement. *AGRESSIVELY BUYS ZEPP LEATHER RESTORER* Had a solo bandit that I tried to restore....used Windex. looked like garbage. thank you,

I usually spray some in there and then insert a guitar cable in there over and over. Never thought to do it your way though. I’ll give it a try!
I do that, but with Brasso metal polish, followed by a dry tip, and then switch cleaner.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

This is my first amp, looks as new as the day I bought it !! 😂great job by the way, this thing weighs as much as my Peavey 5150 Combo !!
You’re right it’s insanely heavy
It is indeed a satisfying work, I did nearly the same thing to my amp a year or so ago. :)
Right on man that’s what I’m talking about
That was my first real amp. I miss that thing. It sounded great
You had a great first amp then! Such a good clean sound.
