Delhi has more cars on roads than any other city in India- even more than the next 3 cities combined! 32.5 Lakh cars are registered in Delhi whereas only 12.8 Lakh cars are registered in Bangalore, 11.1 Lakh in Chennai and 10.7 Lakh in Mumbai.

@Lastlyy, Man atleast take datasets properly before making videos.
Didn't you read news report this year regarding Bengaluru overtaking Delhi in highest private cars owned metric?
Currently Delhi has 20.7 lakh cars and Benglauru has 23.1 lakh private cars. According to latest data from Karnataka transport department annual survey, Benglauru urban distirct has 25.1 lakh cars. From where did you get 12.8 lakh number for Benglauru?
Delhi had 33.8 lakhs but transport department derigesterted and scrapped them.
If you don't trust me, search the same in Google and see it again. Go through data of both transport department documents.
Such a huge blunder in presenting data is not good for channel of your size.

Delhi deserves all the praise for its *wide* roads network and the ever expanding extensive metro, to the extent that we are running out of colours for new lines! Even DTC Buses (with more new AC-Electric ones coming) have decent presence. I dont think any other Indian city even comes close. Dust, Pollution, Civic-Sense, Sewage Systems etc are still serious issues that face the nat-capital, but they are applicable to all other regions as well. Also how while lutyens' New Delhi sits at par with Europe/US, the rest of the city needs to be much better organised, something that only the govt-administrations can do, but has not been seen so far, inspite of hefty revenue collections from a relatively rich city.

Indian problems are unique in many ways (population, social perceptions etc.) and while it may be possible to take inspiration from external examples (especially Europe), they won't be directly useable.I am from Delhi and the reason I prefer my car over metro is not because of status symbol or wider roads, but simply because the metro is so freaking packed and congested, I just don't want to be in it standing for 2 hours traveling across the city when the alternate is in the comfort of my car and maybe a 30 mins extra. Unless we solve for comfort in the public infrastructure the population which has grown up the economic ladder will not switch to public transport. And there are examples where convenient semi-public transport options (private shuttle busses) with ensured comfortable have been introduced and people have adopted for it.

If we want to grow Mumbai should be a separate state. I know bjp people's ass will burn after I name Kolkata.

In india public transportation is not a optimal solution because
    1. Lack of civic sense, people don't know how to behave in public and so they talk loudly and disturb others
    2. Public transportation in india don't really have hygiene as the authorities don't maintain their trains and buses
    3. Public transportation don't follow their schedule or timings so they just appear at random and main thing in india is that we have a dense population so the buses and trains will be crowded and can't cater all population.
That's why I prefer own vehicles because of these issues.

The case with delhi is, the Region is huuge compared to it's Transportation availability which holding back from providing last mile connectivity, this will fulfill once the ongoing metro expansion and RRTS will constructed as a whole but that will take decade

I do get annoyed, especially with chappris. Their behaviour pisses me off to no extent, and auto drivers. Although yeah idgaf after a min or two.
The reason i dont like driving is because you have to spend extra time in traffic. Public transport takes equally, if not more time though. Maybe delhi is an exception but people's behaviour in metro, sometimes it just gets too bad. Not to mention, the crowd.
Even with a manual it shouldn't be a problem. Although where i live, its constantly between 5-20, and that's annoying. You have to keep shifting between 1st and 2nd even on motorcycle to prevent stalling. At least with motorcycle it doesn't matter if you use the clutch regularly. In car its more pissing off. The second you shift up somebody will come off and you have to slow down back to 5.

@@darktitan8085 Mine comment was for the admin, I hate anyform of personal vehicle but anything other than four wheel is even more nuisance Rickshaws, single cylinder motorcycles, scooters, mopped yuk. These all are actually a Third world replacement of a good Public transport, it seems normalized only because most cities in this country have never been exposed to a good & efficient public transportation and Transit oriented development(which will changes in the coming time) . Step outside in East Asian nations where population density is similar you will see people opting public transport as major option, Tokyo for example is similar in nature like delhi where vehicle ownership is least in the world, you have to prove that you have legal parking spot before buying a vehicle unless you can't buy any vehicle.
And yes public transport is always be crowd but it's a collective good measure for ALL its not just about you it's for whole city to make less vehicle dependent and more transit dependent, reducing carbon footprint along with it.

One reason for sure. But the way people behave in delhi metro, the non ac buses is also a big reason.
I dont live in delhi anymore but here its even more annoying. Unlike delhi metro, here so many places just cant even get a metro due to lack of city planning. Buses arent great either.
      Obviously crowding is another example.
I do get annoyed seeing how many "suvs" are on road with the driver only occupying the car but due to narrow roads he is occupying the whole lane, contributing to traffic.
Its something that cant be solved but yeah, the show off culture is just as shallow as it gets, not the only point through.

Even in bike you have to keep feathering clutch because first gear is out of power faster than speed of sound.
Im okay doing clutch control but the constant 5-12 kmph gets irritating very fast. Upon that you have moronic speed breakers and potholes everywhere.
And the speed breakers are there because people don't like leaving space for others. Govt didn't simply decide to put money there.
One monsoon and the roads are gone, in fact the network only becomes inaccessible for some areas.

Bhai, expected a better video from you. I had expected you will include the biggest points of all -- THE INDIAN CONDITIONS.
    Some :-
    1. Narrowing Lanes won't work because people in India don't follow lanes. Hell, many local authorities have stopped demarcating Lanes all together.
    2. Pedestrian walking and cycling Lanes in India get squatted by the so-called “poor” food and clothes stall sellers. One of the prime examples in Delhi is seen near Anand Vihar ISBT and Railway station. The entire stretch of wide Pedestrian walking area is squatted by the stalls selling food, clothes, you can even get a tattoo there. So now people walk in the Bus Lane, forcing Buses onto the main road. Thus creating a traffic jam. Also to note, the whole thing was redesigned and reconstructed (including increasing the number of lanes) to be pedestrian friendly and a separate bus lane was created to reduce the traffic jam.
    3. Delhi is the political capital of India which means all the MPs, Ambassadors, top level bureaucracy live in the city bringing with them big security apparatus who mostly travel by cars for safety and security reasons.
    4. Public transport even though good in Delhi (when compared to other cities) is not well integrated with the neighboring cities like Gurugram and Noida due to different state govts and NCR committee being the most incompetent govt body in history of India. Noida and Gurugram for the size of economy, population only have one metro systems of their own. Gurugram has been provided budget for two new lines of metro with Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad getting nothing. When people have to commute between these cities, they are forced to use private vehicle or end up in not so safe bus services.

    • @roy04
      @roy04 2 місяці тому +3

      1. Narrowing lanes as in physical making them narrower, not just using painted lines. If public transit infra is solid, narrowing lanes does disincentivize people to use to roads, decreasing overall traffic. Sounds counterintuitive, but it's proven.
      2. Agreed, properly utilized cycling lanes will never be a thing in Indian cities anytime soon. Especially when considering Indian summers and lack of civic/traffic sense.
      3. The population of Delhi is 30+ mil. Even if there are 10k top-level bureaucrats, each needing their own convoy, it would not affect the general traffic in the slightest.
      4. Agreed, public transport needs to be better. But the only way to do that is by pressuring by the government to do it, and the first step towards that is public awareness. These videos are a way to achieve that.

aaj tak ka sabs e bekar(low and poor analysis) analysis laga iska . sirf logo k pas paisa aa jane se log gari nehi kharidta khas kar india pe , it has various reasons. That depends on govt policy.
at first let me catch your lie on delhi NCT GDP. the GDP(NOMINIAL) of NCT IS NOT even close to 280 billion USD. its middle around 11 lakh cr-12 lakh cr.
      1) the city sides and te outskirts of delhi are not well connected with metro to gurugram CBD and it takes long time and cost extra money to go.
      2) there is no perfect co-ordination between delhi-haryana-up govt about public transportaion . you can see less haryabna roadways buses in delhi or very less dtc bus in gurugram and other areas .
3)delhi and haryana have very less private players when it comes to proivate buses
      4) cabs and autos are very much expensive there so people prefer to buy ownm cars
      5) at last govt is aggrasive for making wide raods that people can drive car easily
AS an example KOLKATA HAS one of the best transportation systems in india .
      1) IT has metro rail connecting north to south and CBD which are also connected with local train routes
      2) It has best suburban rail network in india spread around 1500 kms.
3)have large number of pvt bus services with govt buses( not only its own ctc and WBTC buse but SBSTC BUSES which enters from other places )
      4) have a decent ferry service
he did't speak about the city and about these . I understand in upcoming days he will target which city , influence by a political party. good luck for that ..

      1. “If public transit infra is solid” -- Delhi NCR as whole does not have a solid public transit (intra every single city and inter-city). Noida in fact as one Metro line and no bus service (though UP govt has agreed to buy and start a 100 E-bus service for intra city travel).
      2. “narrowing lanes does disincentivize people to use to roads, decreasing overall traffic. Sounds counterintuitive, but it's proven” -- Proven in Western Europe not in India. Things in India work in their own ways, so unless it is proven in India, I will be skeptical of the entire thing. I have seen people park their massive cars on narrow streets and then fight among themselves when it's time to get the vehicle out in Delhi.
      3. Agreed with your 3rd point. My point while pointing out the elites was they make sure Delhi has big streets to accommodate their convoys of vehicle.
      4. Agreed on the 4th point, but without strict enforcement against illegal squatting of public land (roads, pedestrian paths, cycling lanes) in the name of being poor, public transit will never be successful. I personally don't see any politician even dreaming about this subject, as it is a clear path to losing the elections. The countries @Lastlyy had pointed out have strict enforcement of law, and they don't let anyone get away with this just because they are so called poor.

Bro safety is also a thing. People in delhi metro act like they're in private space, and metros are crowded af. If you have money, why will you not buy a car?
Cycling isnt a solution in 40 degrees heat either, not to mention why will you want to breathe harder on the road when it's full of dust and exhaust gas?
From 830 in the morning itself things start heating up in delhi, and its a hot place on average for most of the year.
Copenhagen can say that because of their temperature. If everyone is provided a bath in workspace to accommodate cycles, people will complain about water wastage and time lost.
Many people also have long commutes because their workplace is located in an area where its expensive to pay rent or own a house.
Also a good part of the pollution index has to do with all the dust vehicles lift off the road as they move, not tailpipe emissions. Delhi govt on the other hand banned use of coal not too long ago. Still thermal power plants exist around ncr and they seem to be going nowehere. Its unfortunate but cars have to do a lot with the way govt thinks. I hate traffic myself but what to do? At least delhi seems to have relatively good connectivity when it comes to metro and all, other cities arent good by comparison.
