We travelled a lot in Iceland ( mainly the highlands) over the years in 3 different Land Rovers ( all 110 ) and a 2 door Range Rover classic. As a family of five, there was not the option to sleep in the car, so we used big family tents, where you alo could spend time inside in bad weather. Used gas primus and a simple koal grill for meals. For many years we even only used one time grills together with the primus. There are some nice simple to raise and simple to take down tents on the market now.
Nice! of course being a family of 5 is the next level and challenges adds up for the setup. Many cool and efficient products are available today compared to 10-14 years ago.

Sold my 110, drive now a HZJ78 Toyota for more sapce. Still love the 110 look so much more. Solar powerd systems are bit to fancey for my taste. Less is sometimes more. But to travel with so many ppl. in such little 4x4 i can undersand you take every little comfort plus, you can get.

Honesly any 1980-2010 Land Rover Defender 110 is perfect type for Family vehicle thats made for Offroading such as : Travelling , Camping , Overlanding , Holidays , Jobs and other stuff besides you can always add tent around vehicle the roof can be carries or tent too doesnt matter , you can also find a off grid off road travel trailer for attachment just suggestings cuz it is my plan to search for one and get stuff as rookie car mechanic/ driver old school ethusiast i own 1994 lada niva 1.7 4x4 2121 its mainly purpose to own it for off road stuff either work and adventure fun ya know i had it for a year and so and its been fun maybe in future im gonna plan to get land rover defender 110 once i get a family so that we all fit in so yeah thanks for sharing this to us uwu
I agree it's made for many different adventure uses and we love it. Anyone can adjust it to their preferences, it's great! Best to be keen on learning on the spot mechanics to keep it in good condition while exploring or working 💪

Pisa is a cute little city and worth the drive. All this region is packed up because it's lovely. Wouldn't recommend visit with a large truck though

Nice video! I would hope you would take a two week trip preferably a month to test your sit-up for long term travel, I don't think a two or three day trip will really give you a good test. To me it would get real old real quick having to unpack and repack all of that stuff each day. When you come to America you will not want to leave any items outside the vehicle at night especially if you are camping in a developed area, theft is pretty high even in small towns. If you have anything stolen the only reason to report it to the police would be for insurance purposes they will be happy to take your report and file it and that will be the extent of what they will do.
Thanks! Would love to take longer trips but unfortunately with a regular job not possible to take more than so weeks of holidays. We're confident regarding the aging of this setup as we can compare it to our previous all wooden one that did withstand our way of doing very well for almost 10 years. And yes absolutely, nothing is left outside at night, this is our way of doing since the beginning :)
