    Hi Alison! It’s great to see you back. I love your Felix. I’m knitting the cardigan. I might have to do the pullover as well. I’ve hooked myself to the 12 cast ons knit along by Ange over at yarn and yarns. I’m just starting the 12th! I’m going to be busy this year. My resolution is no new yarn in 2025. I want to knit what I have! Happy new year!

    You just popped up on my feed and I’m so glad. Thankyou very much for all the subbing tips, I’d never heard of Yarn Sub. I hope you have a very happy 2025, I’m just off to block a Felix cardigan! Take care.

    I always love seeing what you bought in the charity shops. I plan to knit more from stash and patterns I own this year. Only buy if I have a project in mind. My secret Santa (my daughter) got me a baby knitting book and my Grand daughter who is having a baby boy in February soon found something she liked. So I do have to buy the yarn for that. I started joining in the the 12 days of cast ons but I have only cast on 3...I do have maybe 5 more ready. I do this every year but I only have one unfinished from 2023. Happy New Year and I look forward to seeing more from you in 2025 x

    The Lidl and Aldi shops in the US do not sell yarn unfortunately. You seem to get wonderful buys at your charity shops. MMm! Maybe I should move back to Glasgow after 64 years here lol! Great podcast again.

      @@elsiehughes7130 Hi Elsie that's such a shame you don't find yarn in your thrift stores as they always look so big! I love the charity shops in Shawlands although I don't visit very often these days. Some of the charity shops I have locally are really expensive but I still find a few bargains. Happy New Year and happy knitting x

    I’ve made socks with the Lidl stretch yarn, Ravelry username is Penknits2 and the project is socks 63 if you want to have a look at how it knits up. It knits up beautifully and my husband says he really likes them and they are very comfortable to wear, he loves my knitted socks and has lots of pairs but developed a wool allergy so I bought lots of non wool sock yarn . It did not mess with my tension at all however and they look great - the biggest problem I had was hand pain, I knit with a lot of acrylic with no problem whatsoever but for some reason acrylic at a sock knitting gauge causes me hand pain - sock wool is definitely more bouncy and forgiving on the hands, so I gave the rest of it to the charity shop which was a shame as it really is lovely 😊 xx

    Just to say love all your podcasts. I never find any wool or bargains in charity shops. Your socks are wonderful as is Henrietta. I'm crocheting the Sirdar Gingerbread House blanket Just ran out of one of the colours which i'm using now. Needless to say didn't get it finished in time for Christmas.Thank goodness for Amazon hopefully ball i need will come tomorrow. Wish you & your family a great Hogmanay when it comes, all the best for 2025.

      Thank you so much. Yes good ol Amazon!! I think I saw the Gingerbread blanket at the Glasgow show. It will be lovely when it's finished. It's a shame you can't find second hand yarn in your charity shops. I've found that somtimes if you ask they have it out the back. They told me in one shop they don't put it out as its messy!!! Have a lovely New Year x

    Wow, I'm a blue and green girl too, and have to be frugal though I have an occasional blow out. I love the scarf your daughter made for you, is there a pattern for that? I'm currently trying to make myself a new cowl but haven't found the right pattern so lots of starting and stopping - does mean I'm getting good at the German twisted cast on so there's always a silver lining.
    Happy New Year to you and your yarn community.

      www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/p/mindfulness-shawl-knitting-pattern-by-heike-gittins. Here is the link I'm afraid it's not on Ravelry. I've done about 3 of them now. I avoid the German twisted cast on like the plague but I really should make the effort. Happy New Year 😀

    I would be very interested in the sock yarn with elastic content to hear the results and experience. I have some too and haven't used it yet.

    Are you a loose or tight knitter ? I ask because I have a lot of Karisma and the Felix pattern but I am a loose knitter and do not like using big diameter needles.

    • @thefrugalknitter8786
      @thefrugalknitter8786  18 днів тому

      @@bettygraham818 Hi Betty I'm neither loose or tight. I don't like big needles either as they make my hands hurt and I find the bigger the needle the looser I knit. I would try knitting a bigger size but just go for half a size bigger with the needles. As it's top down you can just keep trying it on and adjust accordingly. Aran weight yarn is usually too thick for me so this worked out great. Would be interested to see how you get on if you go ahead. X
