Word of advice: when you're staying up late to do homework, this is the last thing on youtube you should listen to. Otherwise, it's the first thing on youtube you should listen to.
Bob's arrangement, as performed by KS, and Concordia Choir, are simply elegant. I'm not inferring that this arrangement is any less or more than Concordia's, but if you're anything like Meghan Trainor (All About the Bass - couldn't resist), listen to the ending of this one: ua-cam.com/video/u15YG2HODOI/v-deo.html

Beautiful. The KS album version was my intro to the song itself, so, for me, weirdly, U2's version is the cover. Thank you King's Singers, past and present, for this wonderful version of a simple idea.
Quite frankly, this is how I feel about many of the originals that the KS cover. Well, not necessarily that the original is the "cover," but that it somehow doesn't quite compare to the beauty of their a cappella version. =)
I did have the opportunity to watch this particular group perform. I am very pleased with the way they have come together and as such, they really represent the idea that the original members of the King’s singers had in mind.
Superb! Your sound seems younger than ever! I guess there is a time, when you grow old with the sound of the King's Singers, that you - from time to time - are starting to miss something, especially when you listen to long time repertoire songs. I first listened to this song in 1993 on "Good Vibrations" and it still gives me the chills when I hear those bass tones from Stephen Connolly. I miss his volume and range here a little ...
Excellent observation. I heard this first on "Good Vibrations" as well. After your mentioning about Stephen Connolly's range I listened to it again and you are correct. The bass was more pronounced and SC had warmer tone. I also miss Bob Chilcott's singing the melody (warmer, not as "clean"). This version is well done nonetheless. The King's Singers always put out top notch performances.
In 1997 my senior year of high school I sang the tenor solo it was me as the only tenor against 10 sopranos,10 altos, and 10 Basses and we kept it legato and mezzo piano and good god was there not a dry eye whenever we performed it including at MLK High School in L.A
@@kylexu3621 I mean. If you couldn't hear this guy talk. You could feel him. We had a concert with a few other schools one time. And he was talking and someone goes "Alan, shut up, you're loud." He goes "I'm whispering." And finally I turn around and go "Alan. You can't whisper. You're rumbling my ass cheeks and it's weird. I can feel you talking dude." And that was just his speaking voice. Let alone singing low
Yeah I have a friend who is a tenor, and I'm a bass, and we both had to hit the same high note but he couldn't. He explained that it was because he has a shorter distance between his range and falsetto and that makes it harder
Beautiful cover, well done guys! I'm going to be trying out for the lead solo part to sing it with my barbershop chorus at our summer show. Hope I do it half as well as you.
It's a wonderful arrangement of a wonderful song. But question ... how on earth do they manage to start walking away like, all as one. That's freaky timing, right there.
Lol the final bass notes were incorrect. Edit: I've just checked the sheet music and actually they weren't, they were just the optional higher version of the final bass and baritone notes which I'm not used to hearing.

Agreed
shoot, a bit too late for that xD
When it's been arranged by Bob and sung by you, you know it's going to be way more than just enjoyable.

My choir sang it this year and I loved it!! Such a pure sound coming from a very simple arrangement. Always gave me goosebumps
My choir sang it at my brothers high school graduation in 1999 ♥️♥️♥️
I LOVE these 6 men. I listen to them all the time.
They encored with this today (April 8, 2018) in Redlands, California, and it gets me Every time. They make me cry, they're so beautiful.

WOW .. As always, the King's Singers are utterly mesmerizing, ethereal and simply stunning .. WOW
I heard this song for the first time and was blown away. It felt transcendental. Let us continue to work towards making MLK's dream a reality.
Bravoooo!! Tank you from Italy!

Amazing. Thank you for this beautiful tribute to Dr. King.
I "love" it again. I didn't realize the power of the lower voices. Yes, you fellas are on top.
I did have the opportunity to watch this particular group perform. I am very pleased with the way they have come together and as such, they really represent the idea that the original members of the King’s singers had in mind.
Love from Florida, keep singing & shining!
Hats off.Respect.
Gorgeous, rich, moving

Who...who gave this a thumbs down? I’m so confused, it’s beautiful!

This is angelic! ❤ To think that people have disliked this is terrible... It is so soothing and beautiful! ❤
Maybe it made them feel something they weren't ready to feel.
If so, I hope when they are ready they come back and let it all out:)
They all know something beautiful just happened.
that bass line though... damn
Ashley Cranefield it was really fun to do as the only bass in my choir that could hit the c2
@@mad_juggernaut_3547 My choir used a version that had a C1. So we used the higher substitute notes because even our lowest base can only hit a D1
@@sirisaacedgelord6733 how does one EVEN go that far down

Stunning. I just got the “Folk Songs and Fantasies” song book and am so excited about working through the tunes!
MAGIC....🙏❤
So haunting and powerful.
That was so beautiful
Simply beautiful!
Favorite song rn
Sometimes heaven listens.
God always listens
Just woke up and checked my notifications. Definitely the best music I could use right now!Beaaaaautiful!!!!
Absolutely Magnificent!!!
Fun fact, in the all male choir version, it’s actually the bass 2s who hit the highest falsetto notes
Yeah I have a friend who is a tenor, and I'm a bass, and we both had to hit the same high note but he couldn't. He explained that it was because he has a shorter distance between his range and falsetto and that makes it harder

pure bliss
WOW! You are so amazing!
Best as always!
Excelente!!
How beautiful!
This piece is absolutely amazing! It's one of my favorites.
I love You!
Super!

How’d ya do?
Same here, I got the solo :D
Straight onto my Favourites file!!! : - )
They sound great and surprisingly much like the "old" KS, but Stephen Conolly hit some low notes on this song that can't be heard in this version! ;-)
upload more videos so beautiful
Quel pied!
transcends technique!
It's a wonderful arrangement of a wonderful song.

Are you thinking of the Chillcot arrangement for Concordia Choir? Here's their version... ua-cam.com/video/u15YG2HODOI/v-deo.html

I like the song, so I skipped straight to the song and I'm sorry.
Superb sound! Looks like the butler had the day off, tho - Tim and the new tenor had shirt tails showing . . .ugh
Agreed with the sound, not so much agreed with the rest though. I think they look good untucked.
