Great video! Truly a ‘real world’ adventure/expedition with some useful glimpses about the photo gears and other staff essential for such endeavours. 👍
Your videos are awesome sir! Everytime I need a “non-commercial” opinion about photography I come and check your channel. You are honest and sincere which is something hard to find in youtube lately. Thank you and keep up the good work.
Thanks for the post/feedback Christopher and glad to be of help!:) I do not have sponsors and will continue to provide honest/open feedback on any given equipment/subject:).
Thanks for the post/feedback:). The power of shooting RAW allows the photography the ability to pull/enhance colors from any given image which is nice depending on the given situation:).
i have recently bought Nikon 7200, 140mm lens and 50mm 1.8d... I was wondering all over youtube for nothing until I came across with your channel.. Really great teacher u r sir.. .Hats off to you
Also, I m facing issues like dark images.. I will be looking after to ace low light situations and how to snap portraits perfectly though i already learnt a lot from your videos.. but still looking for some more groom
hey mark long time thank you for your time ..... a while back i bought my D7200 and it came with this lens .. i keep it on my D5300 now and i really like it i have the sigma 150-600mm on the D7200 for wild life .. i love the versatility of the 18 -140mm it works great on the 5300.. thanks again mark good to see you again ...
Appreciate the post/feedback!:) I like the 7000 series and they are weather sealed and solid and the D5300 is a nice body as well. How do you like the Sigma 150-600? A friend of mine used one with a teleconverter which gave him more reach however you need good light to maintain a fast shutter (increase the ISO helps as well).
I got the 5300 as well with the 18-55 kit lens, but I'm looking for some sharper and better lens. And the 18-140 seems what I need (at least more zoom, so more flexibility). What did you feel passing from 18-55 mm kit lens to 18-140 on your Nikon 5300? Good improve the photo quality, the sharpness?
Interesting, I did the same thing you did with an 18-140mm on a D5300. This combination is as close to perfection as possible. In my Tamrac Expedition #4, I also carry a 55-200mm and an 85mm. I am not a pro but enjoy this hobby to the highest levels with this gear. Often, I check out videos like this one and do exactly what I have learned from them. The Nikon 18-140mm "kit" lens is underrated and not respected as it should. Thank You for the Validation.
Hi Mark, Nice to watch another of your videos. I have negative 1000% interest in camping or backpacking yet I watched that entire segment without skipping forward. That is a testament to your interesting well-produced content. Thanks for sharing! Great hearing The Palms' music again. I was grooving from the waste up in my chair. 😊 Have wonderful week!
LOL - thanks for the post/feedback!:) I started getting more and more questions about my gear and thought to include a quick run down in this video. Nonetheless, it's always good to get out and capture some great shots:).
Hi, nice video as always , thanks. In the past , I was taking around 65L backpack for 2-3 nights as well. but I made a change in how I pack and in how much things I consider as critical to the trip. Now. I can fit everything in max 48L but usually 32L (when it is not rainy). I don't know how much it weights but it shows to be a bit too heavy. Heavy pack limit your movements and don't let you to get the most of the hike , to feel the freedom . I suggest to try and reduce this pack as much as you can . try to check also the weight of the pack itself the the "3" (tent, sleeping bag , sleeping pad).
Ahhhhh yes ... sounds like you have been down this path before and can appreciate the weight and size factor:). I agree with your assessment as well and thought the same - shed the nonessentials, however I need to account for additional gear (i.e. batteries, tripods, cameras, etc. (if planning to record vids)). I may create more videos about back country camping, etc. which should be interesting/fun:).
GREAT INFO! This was my first kit lens on a Nikon 7200 and I put the camera on the shelf when I got a Nikon D750 But now I'm falling in love with this all over again! :)
The guests below have said it best. Great production. Valued content. Felt like i hiked through the northwoods of Kentucky. Produce what you like we appreciate the trip. Well follow you anywhere. Knowing honesty.integrity .are at the forefront.
Thanks for the post/feedback Tim!:) Stay tuned as I have more on the way and feel the same - honesty and integrity are at the cornerstones of my foundation.
Finally a new video! I've had this camera model and the same lens's range, it's a good match and I liked it. The camping tips is so helpful also. I wish sometimes in the future I will go on the photo adventure like this. Thank you for a great video and take care. 👍😃
Thanks for the post and hope you are staying safe!:) Planning for an adventure in the back country to capture photos/memories can be an adventure in itself:). I may create videos around this topic as well.
Backcountry travel/navigation would be a great thing for a channel as great as yours to cover. Looking forward to that. Hopefully you have time to spare for it. Thanks!
Appreciate your information. Much more down to earth and not going n about the next new camera that many can not afford. Also, love the music who is the artist ?
Thanks for the post/feedback Wayne and glad to be of help!:) I exchanged messages with the band featured in this video and they seem nice/unique and offered their music. They are called The Palms (www.thepalmsmusic.com).
just ordered this lens used from MPB here in the UK if the results here are typical I am SO looking forward to trying this little beauty out Loved the video here
Mark again ThankYou for loving the D-3400.!!! i have The D-750 & D-850 as well but Truly luv the way u show your followers That u dont have to have the most Expensive Camera to "take Great Pictures.!!! You are one the Best out there, Number 2.) You always show settings through out your Videos.! Again ThankYou BostonMassachusetts/ TimeTraveler PS Your number one fan.!!!!
Thanks for the post and glad to be of help! :) I truly believe awesome/unique photos are a result of the photographer's ability to use any given camera (within reason :)).
18-140 is undoubtedly one of the sharpest lenses among the DX lenses but I'm not sure whether investing on it anew is a prudent idea, since Nikon - rather all the companies - are in a transition phase towards mirrorless. But still I love this lens, especially with D7500 it's just awesome.
agreed, the 18-140 seems to be a staple in the zoom lens lineup. i am keeping a close eye on mirrorless as well:). i suspect mirrorless will remain for a good number of years, as i believe a number of people do not like the EVF. nonetheless, mirrorless is gaining ground as technology advances and brings new features to the market.
This lens rarely comes off my camera and I love it and pretty much use it for days like these in your shoot and would love to have seen your focus points especially with the pics using high apertures. Cheers for the great videos and stay safe..
Thanks for the post/feedback:). This is a good all around lens and would be good leave on the body for a long time. I like the idea of showing the focal point as well and may look into that - curious to see if I can automate the capture of the focal point.
I am looking at buying either the 18-200 or 140. Which do you prefer? Is there really much difference between the two? Thanks! As always, I really enjoy your vlogs
Hi Anthony ... both are solid:). I shot with the 18-200 for many years and appreciate the extra 60mm, however the 18-140 is solid as well. The extra 60mm is noticeable especially when needed (i.e. zoo, sporting events, etc.).
This is my first time being early in your channel. I am always months and year late to your uploaded videos. I learned a lot from you and you are my number 1 source of knowledge in photography, I have a Nikon D5300 (bought it second hand) and I practice inside my apartment, I haven't gone outside due to COVID19 and Typhoons. I can't wait to test what I learned from you in the "REAL WORLD". Love from the Philippines. Edit: Yes I'd love to see camping or survival tips. Thanks :)
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I suspect you have some great locations to capture awesome shots in the Phillippines as well:). The D5300 is a good/solid camera ... enjoy the ride:).
thanks for the post/feedback! :) i just finished another back country adventure (video will soon post) and plan to dive more into camping gear so stay tuned! :)
Great content! I have the same lens and it’s my go-to lens. I didn’t care for the yellow saturation in many of the photos, but appreciate your art none the less. I’m subscribing!
Hello; I like your videos, but one question I have to ask: Does Nikon make two versions of the is lens? My 18-140 is marked DX, and therefore has no "crop factor" on my APS C camera. But, I am like you; I LIKE the lens! Keep up the good work!
I believe Nikon makes only one version of the 18-140. Nikon along with other manufacturers list zoom ranges based on the 35mm equivalent even though the lens is a dedicated the crop sensor. I created the following video which might be of some help - ua-cam.com/video/cWps3FFz5ug/v-deo.html
Mark, this was a fantastic adventure Sir! Beautiful trail...and it looked even more appealing given the rain (though, I can relate to the nuisances). Lovely shots! I am seriously interested in your guidance on camping (gear, preps, safety tips, trails to pick and what do you look for in a landscape...have already picked some gems from your videos, but would be great to see a dedicated video about it). Been looking to upgrade from bridge to an entry-level DSLR around the range of Canon EOS 200 DII / Nikon D5600 (open to suggestions from other brands as well). I am currently using a Sony Bridge with a 1/2.3 type (7.82 mm) Exmor R CMOS sensor and ZEISS Vario Sonnar T 4.3-215mm Lens (F2.8 - 6.3), which has been a good start, but has started showing limitations in many ways. I have seen Nikon D3400 work amazingly well in your videos and have also benefitted from your advice on D5600. Purpose: Mostly landscape & wildlife photography (and, occasionally, street photography). Your suggestions to that end would help a great deal.
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I am thinking along the same lines regarding videos on back country camping so stay tuned:). Sounds like you are ready to step-up to a new camera of some sort after playing with a bridge camera, and I can appreciate your situation. First, try to settle on a manufacturer (i.e. Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Sony, Fuji) ... it can be costly to start with one and migrate to another:). Which one should you pick? I feel all the major manufacturers are good/solid and typically have a following based on brand loyalty. Second, I have shot with many different cameras and lenses over the years and would lean towards a good used camera if available. I know many people who received a new entry/mid level camera as a gift and didn't use it or used it but very little. Third, have fun with whatever you get:). Take time to understand all the features and exploit them fully:).
@@RealWorld : Thank you so much. I am in early stages of my research (read 'education') as before deciding for a brand I need adequate awareness of what to look for in the camera for the purpose described. If you can suggest any specific spec-points to keep in mind while making the decision, I'd be very grateful.
Glad to be of help!:) I suspect you will encounter the age old debate regarding crop sensor vs full sensor and which is better, etc. I have both and while there are advantages to the full, crops are great as well. Full sensors capture more information however they are typically more expensive for both the bodies and lenses. Crops are nice because they are typically less expensive and provide more reach when using the same lens size. Nonetheless, you will not go wrong with either:). The next decision might be mirror vs mirrorless:). I have used both and both are solid. Some say mirrorless in the future and while manufactures are certainly going down this path, I suspect mirrors will be around for a bit longer:). Mirrors are nice simple because you can view/see the scene without the need to turn the camera on (mirrorless cameras using an EVF (electronic view finder) which requires power). Regarding other features (i.e. max ISO, number of focal points, etc.) ... most cameras will cover all your basic and not so basic needs:).
Love your videos, you the best man. Love how you put the settings on the captured photos. I'm still a newbie even got a Nikon D5600 for dummies book 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for this video and info! I have a Nikon D3400 great camera came with 2 lens but I felt I needed another one. Was looking at the 18-140 You have sold me on it! Thanks very much!
I enjoyed your video very much and the music was great. Thanks for giving us an excellent review on this lens as well as showing us what you can achieve with it as I am thinking of buying one shortly. Did you enhanced the colours afterwards or are they more intense because of the settings used? Loved the close up shots.
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I shoot in RAW and post process in Lightroom to some extent. While I do not adjust color on all photos, I like to increase the vibrance on most ... not too much but just enough to make the photo interesting:).
Another great video Mark, especially during lockdown here in the UK! Love the air trap bag what a cool idea! I traded in my 18-55 kit lens a while back for a used 18-105 which I use most of the time now, although 18-140 sounds even better. Looking forward to your next trip.
Thanks for the post/feedback David and welcome from the United States!:) The 18-105 is another solid lens however the extra reach of the 140 is nice:).
I've had my D3400 since 2018 and I've never really tapped into the potential. I'm getting a great deal on this lens for $275 so I think its worth the investment, now that I want to start using my camera how it's intended.
Your channel is awesome and you are a real adventurer sir!! I really like your content! I also have the D3400 with the kit lens 18-55, I was watching the other 2 video of yours reviewing the 18-200 and 18-300. I was thinking, as a hiker myself that I need an all around glass. It would be great if you share your opinion about these 3 lenses. Worth to be mentioned, in my case the prices are 150 for the 18-140, 300 for the 18-200, and 350 for the 18-350. Thanks in advance!
Love to see some more camping and photo videos. Glad you were safe. Red river gorge is such a nice area. Also I love the osmo action. It is nice and small and easy to take along. I am looking into the DJI pocket 2 also!!
Nice video as always Sir. I was wondering if you have tried the Tameron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC lens on your Nikon D3400? If so, I would like to hear your thoughts on that zoom lens. I've heard some mixed reviews on this lens. Though to be honest it's not going to sway me away from purchasing one this weekend. Though I would like your feedback if you have any. Again, I enjoyed the video and look forward to your next one.
Thanks for the post/feedback/question:). I shot with the Tamron 18-200 for a handful of years and switched to the Nikon 18-200. Why? Only because I got the Nikon 18-200 from a friend when I purchase his camera body:). The Tamron 18-200 is solid which no major issue/complaints and there is a good chance I would still be using it today if not for the deal I received:). In fact, I am having issues with my Nikon 18-200 and wish I had the Tamron back, although I have put the Nikon 18-200 through many challenges:).
@@RealWorld Thank you for such a fast response, as I value your opinion. You always seem to give honest and unbiased reviews of the gear you're using. And I also appreciate the info you provide about your shots. It has helped me a lot. I actually placed my order for the Tamron 18-200mm lens from Amazon right after I posted my question to you. It should be arriving tomorrow. And I must say, I'm looking forward to getting out and using my new toy/tool. 😅 As always, looking forward to the next installment from "RealWorld"!
This would be a nice lens (27 to 210) on a 7000 level Nikon that has a large viewfinder. the 3000 or 5000 level cameras have very small viewfinders and half the buttons to control camera settings
Nice video, it was interesting to hear about the way you prepare and pack for these trips. Kind of gives me inspiration to do it myself. Some people may not like the divergence from photography and more into hiking etc. But most photographers would probably hike for a good photo right? You should definitely make more videos on hiking, finding good camping grounds, and preparation
Appreciate the feedback and thinking the same!:) It's one thing to show a shot, but it is another to see what it takes to truly capture the shot:). Back country camping is an adventure in itself and knowing what to pack and how to survive is always good:).
Nice video, as usual :) Could you tell us a little bit if the quality (colors, sharpness...) of the photos with this 18-140 mm lens are better than the kit 18-55 lens? I'm looking for un upgrade for my kit lens on Nikon D5300 for nature, landscape photography and this lens seems ok.
Thanks for the post/question:). I feel this lens doe offer a slight advantage regarding quality compared to the kit lens, although I have been happy with the 18-55 kit over the years:).
Thanks for the post/feedback Rob!:) The rain resulted from a hurricane Zeta which I did not think would impact that geographic area - whoops:). Nonetheless, it was fun:).
I had a camera with missing battery cover as well. I was sky diving and taking video when I was free falling and the wind just ripped the cover right off. It hit me in the face when it went flying by me. Other than a nick on corner of my eye I was ok. You have permission to use this of you ever need to change the reason for the missing battery cover 😉
lol - crazy story but glad you were okay!:) i am not certain i would jump with a DSLR but wow, it would make for an interesting experience and unique/awesome photos!:)
Never fails, right?:) Weather forecasters do their best but mother nature holds the ultimately gavel:). I believe hurricane Zeta blew further north than originally anticipated.
Hello. I'm sorry that I'm bothering you. I see you have a lot of photographic experience. I want to buy nikon 18-200mm vr or nikon 18-140mm vr. Which of these lenses is better? I mean the quality of photos and AF. Both focal lengths are very close so the choice will be the one that is optically better. Thank you
Thanks for the post/question:). The resulting image quality will be nearly identical, however the optical distortion will be slightly greater in the 18-200 at the extreme ends. For example, if you are shooting a landscape with a flat horizon (i.e. ocean) at 18 on the 18-200, you will notice a bit more bowing compared to the 18-140 at 18. This may not be a huge issue but something worth noting.
Hi mate. Why are you not using ISO100 when it seems you quite obviously could in a lot of those shots. I am new to DSLR so it's all a learning curve for me. Cheers.
Welcome from the United States!:) I only use a tripod for long shutters (like the water shots). All other shots are hand held. When shooting by hand, ensure the shutter speed is relatively fast (1/80 or faster; if you have a fast moving subject, increase the shutter speed).
ahhhhh yes:). i use the DJI OSMO action cam and enable the Rock Steady feature which seems to work very well. I created a video on the action cam which can be found here - ua-cam.com/video/vHn_28HaAD8/v-deo.html
Thanks for the post/feedback Robert!:) Really like the area but must be careful ... I have another video on the way in which I touch on the same for good reason:).
Hi sir. I'm new in photography and don't have much knowledge regarding it. I have plan to buy lens but i don't know which one is good. 18-140mm is a good lens for portrait or should i pick a fixed one? And what is a good fixed lens for Portrait? Considering hte budget. Thank you.
a bit late on the reply but i like the fixed 50 or fixed 35 for portraits. both offer a wide open aperture of f/1.8 which provides a nice/soft background and tact sharp focus. :)
Amazing video as usual. Would like to see you making camping or survival videos..that would be awesome as well. Also please make a video on how to use that compass.
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I am leaning towards more back country camping/survival vids as well and taking my camera to capture various shots along the way. Using a compass to shoot back azimuths is helpful to identify where you are located on a map. Stay tuned:).
Great video here, really enjoyed the look at your gear as well as the look at this lens. While I don't have this one, I did pick up the 18-105 VR Nikkor and it seems to be a great lens with excellent image quality.
Thanks for the post/feedback and really like the 18-105 as well:). I have used the 18-55 with other lenses and find that greater zooms are nice to serve as all around lenses ( like the 18-105, 18-140, 18-200, etc.).
Hi from England! Great video! I love your style and approach. Hopefully some more outdoors/hiking/camping advice in the future, that would be great 👍. I have the 18-105mm Nikon lens, I think it’s a good all rounder. Apart from the extra 35mm of reach, is there any other reason for me to upgrade to this? I’m probably going to stick with the 18-105mm as I haven’t had any problems with it. 😀
Thanks for the post/feedback Mark and welcome from the United States!:) I would stay with the 18-105 unless you really want the extra reach as I see no major differences otherwise.
Hey Mark! Loving your videos ever since you reviewed the D3400 (Saw that video after buying it) and I've noticed that you play some music while showing your pictures. In case you're monetizing your videos, sometimes you can't because of copyright claims 😕 Big hugs and greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴!
Appreciate the post/feedback and welcome from the United States!:) Unfortunately, Google banned my adsense account years ago for NO given reason. I appealed many times with no success and canned/generic responses. Nonetheless, I continue to make videos simply because I enjoy sharing knowledge/experiences and helping others. Perhaps one day, Google will reinstate my account:).
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Yes, but only slightly ... since I shoot in RAW, each image must be converted to JPEG in post processing (I used Lightroom).
Optical distortion is slightly great with the 18-200 but it's not too bad in my opinion (and correctable in post processing). I might lean towards the 18-200 if given the choice for the same price:).
thanks for the post and great question:). the reality lies in the middle. i used the DJI osmo action cam which has a small sensor causing the color to be a bit off to some extent. i shot all images using RAW and post processed to some extent in Lightroom. i tried to keep the post processing to minimum but favor a richer more colorful image to some extent. while the video is a bit more dull, the images are a bit more rich :).
@@RealWorld Thank you for the reply, I'm currently looking at buying a Nikon D5600 with the 18-140 lens which is affordable. In the UK cameras are much more expensive than the US, smaller market I suppose.
Thanks for the post/feedback ... will keep my eyes out for one:). I shot with the Tamron 18-200 for many years before shooting with a Nikon 18-200. The Tamron was solid and I would still have it today if not for the deal I got on the Nikon 18-200 (it came with one of the bodies I purchased:)).
Buddy where were u i m missing your these kind of lens review videos pls if u can pls pls increase the video uploads per week Although Love Ur Video From India Your True FAN
The greater the zoom range, the greater the distortion for the most part. The 18-140 has a good amount of distortion at the extremes (18 and 140) which more noticeable when shooting a flat landscape (like water (large lake/ocean)). Distortion is a result of physics caused by the given lens and relatively quick to correct in post processing. You may want to post an image somewhere and link back to this thread.
wow - this is a good question and one i was not expecting!:) both cameras are very good, however if given the choice, i might lean towards the X-T30:). if i had existing Nikon lenses, i might lean towards the z50. so why the X-T30? the z50 has a higher max ISO which can be nice in really low light situations (51200 vs 12800). nonetheless, the X-T30 has more focal points which can be nice for fast moving subjects (425 vs 209), slightly higher resolution which is not a huge deal but worth a minor note (26mp vs 21mp), and faster continuous shooting which can be nice for fast moving subjects (20fps vs 11fps). again, both are solid and you will not go wrong with either IMO:).
nice as usual, just to say.... at video colors are looking like good, but at photo mode, i feel that camera has vivid mode on ...colours are so punchie...
Thanks for the post/feedback:). Shooting in RAW allows the camera to capture EVERYTHING which allows the photographer to apply as much or as little creativity in post post processing. The video color is subdued and the photos are more true-to-life with a slight kick further separating the difference between the video and photos:). In the end, I try to render my photos in an ideal state leveraging the full power of RAW:).
LOL - this is why I pinned a comment to the top with a bookmark to all the sample photos (bypassing the gear review for those whom wish to do so). Many asked about my gear when seeking a photo adventure in the back country, so I decided to include it (along with hinting at the same in the title of this video:)).
I cover my back country camping gear before jumping into a bunch of sample photos using the 18-140. Feel free to bounce ahead if you like:

Noticed your hat! Getting ready to retire here after my 20. Going into photography full time and have always enjoyed your videos... Keep it up
Waiting for this review since last 3 yrs!!!!!
Happy Diwali🪔🪔🪔
Glad to be of help and enjoy the video!:)
I love your channel and enjoy all your videos. Please do post “what’s in your bag” more often including Compass review.
Appreciate the feedback and thinking the same ... stay tuned:).
Backcountry travel/navigation would be a great thing for a channel as great as yours to cover. Looking forward to that. Hopefully you have time to spare for it. Thanks!
THE BEST in term of Real Life experience! Hope you’ll go through your 1st Million Sub! Sir!
Thank you sir!:)
@@RealWorld Thanks I will be sure to check them out. Thank You!!
Yes, compass instructional video. Please. Beautiful pictures, beautiful area!
just ordered this lens used from MPB here in the UK if the results here are typical I am SO looking forward to trying this little beauty out
Loved the video here
Glad to be of help/inspiration!:) Have you had a chance to use it?
@@RealWorld Indeed I have and I love it People seem to be a bit sniffy about "kit lenses" but this one is worth every penny of it's price tag

PS Your number one fan.!!!!
More great work Mark, super sharp images and a fabulous location.
Thanks for the post/feedback!:)
@@RealWorld thank you. I ended up with a 18-250. I'm liking it so far.
Great video. And for sure I would wanna know 101 of camping. Like using compass & other stuff...
thanks for the post/feedback!
Hello;
I like your videos, but one question I have to ask: Does Nikon make two versions of the is lens?
Thanks for your post/feedback and glad to be of help!:) The D5600 is powerful ... have fun and enjoy the ride!:)

Thank you for this video and info! I have a Nikon D3400 great camera came with 2 lens but I felt I needed another one. Was looking at the 18-140 You have sold me on it! Thanks very much!

@@RealWorld Just this min arrived from KEH!
Extremely nice vlog, review and photos. You have it all. Thanks, I enjoyed it!
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I have been using the OSMO for last year or more and really enjoy the camera - it is light and easy to carry:).
Nice summary of the lens
I’m getting this lens this month..Thanks for the review ..as usual nice and smooth explaination
Glad to be of help and enjoy the lens!:) It is solid:).
would adding a helium baloon to the bag ..help lift a bit of weight ...just curious

LOL - i thought to have some fun along the same lines when recording this portion of the video:).
Loved your clicks..milky river is stunning..😍 thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the post/feedback!:)
You are doing amazing work. Keep Living your work. ❤️ from India
Thanks for the post/feedback and welcome from the United States!:)
Yes, I would like to know how to use a compass, please

Excellent video 😊!
Love this video, great content and a good insight into more than just photography. More of this please, keep dry next time 😉
Thanks for the post/feedback Rob!:) The rain resulted from a hurricane Zeta which I did not think would impact that geographic area - whoops:). Nonetheless, it was fun:).
I had a camera with missing battery cover as well. I was sky diving and taking video when I was free falling and the wind just ripped the cover right off. It hit me in the face when it went flying by me. Other than a nick on corner of my eye I was ok.
You have permission to use this of you ever need to change the reason for the missing battery cover 😉
lol - crazy story but glad you were okay!:) i am not certain i would jump with a DSLR but wow, it would make for an interesting experience and unique/awesome photos!:)
you are living the good life..thank you
Another great video! I went ahead and bought that lens today!
2:00 "I know it's not supposed to rain, though." lol
Never fails, right?:) Weather forecasters do their best but mother nature holds the ultimately gavel:). I believe hurricane Zeta blew further north than originally anticipated.
Great presentation but 18-55 have with me, what to do please advise
The 18-55 is a solid kit lens that I use often and include the same in many of my videos:).
Cheers.
Hi I just picked up a Nikon 18-105 for good price . is that an ok lens for general use?
ahhhh yes, really like the 18-105. it is a good range with limited bow/warp found in many extreme zooms - enjoy the lens!:)
Hey RealWorld, greetings from Greece. How are your shots so stable?
Are you using anything else besides a tripod?
Welcome from the United States!:) I only use a tripod for long shutters (like the water shots). All other shots are hand held. When shooting by hand, ensure the shutter speed is relatively fast (1/80 or faster; if you have a fast moving subject, increase the shutter speed).
@@RealWorld I meant the video parts
ahhhhh yes:). i use the DJI OSMO action cam and enable the Rock Steady feature which seems to work very well. I created a video on the action cam which can be found here - ua-cam.com/video/vHn_28HaAD8/v-deo.html
@@RealWorld Thank you very much, keep up with the good and genuine work!!!
Mark, how sharp would you say this lens is? Let's stick with sub $500 used lenses for comparison?
Great video & pics... Location looks challenging but rewarding... Thanks..
@@RealWorld thank you sir. I have 50mm 1.8 and 18-200mm.
@@RealWorld Understood..looking forward to see those videos and be safe.
Well done sir, good job, as always! Take care and stay healthy.
Appreciate the feedback and please do the same!:)
Great vedio indeed. Would you please tell me which lens is better for overall tour photography 35mm vs 18-140mm with nikon d3400 ?
I really like the fixed 35 along with the fixed 50, however I might lean towards to the 18-140 for an all around lens:).
@@RealWorld thanks for your help, yes I will be staying with my 18-105mm lens
Hey Mark! Loving your videos ever since you reviewed the D3400 (Saw that video after buying it) and I've noticed that you play some music while showing your pictures. In case you're monetizing your videos, sometimes you can't because of copyright claims 😕

Great video!!
Are the photos edited?
Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Yes, but only slightly ... since I shoot in RAW, each image must be converted to JPEG in post processing (I used Lightroom).
18-140 or 18-200?
The price is the same, who do you think is the best option?
Thanks in advance.
Optical distortion is slightly great with the 18-200 but it's not too bad in my opinion (and correctable in post processing). I might lean towards the 18-200 if given the choice for the same price:).
One question, the video seems a more accurate colour representation than the pics is that true?
thanks for the post and great question:). the reality lies in the middle. i used the DJI osmo action cam which has a small sensor causing the color to be a bit off to some extent. i shot all images using RAW and post processed to some extent in Lightroom. i tried to keep the post processing to minimum but favor a richer more colorful image to some extent. while the video is a bit more dull, the images are a bit more rich :).
@@RealWorld Thank you for the reply, I'm currently looking at buying a Nikon D5600 with the 18-140 lens which is affordable. In the UK cameras are much more expensive than the US, smaller market I suppose.
beautiful video! may you review the Tamron 18-200 All-in-one zoom lens for Nikon
Thanks for the post/feedback ... will keep my eyes out for one:). I shot with the Tamron 18-200 for many years before shooting with a Nikon 18-200. The Tamron was solid and I would still have it today if not for the deal I got on the Nikon 18-200 (it came with one of the bodies I purchased:)).
thanks for responding! when you shot on the Tamron 18-200 did you use it on your Nikon? would you recommend for nikon D3500?
sorry for the late reply:). i used the tamron 18-200 with an older d7000 and my d3400 ... it's solid and would work well with the d3500:).

I love your trips to RRG.
Good review! Thank you!
Hey nice video. By the way can anyone help me i have noticed that my 18-140mm has way too much distortion and i dont know if it may be broken.....
@@RealWorld thanks

agreed and i have done the same :).
Nice video!!!👍
Sir pls suggest nikon z50 or Fujifilm xt30
wow - this is a good question and one i was not expecting!:) both cameras are very good, however if given the choice, i might lean towards the X-T30:). if i had existing Nikon lenses, i might lean towards the z50. so why the X-T30? the z50 has a higher max ISO which can be nice in really low light situations (51200 vs 12800). nonetheless, the X-T30 has more focal points which can be nice for fast moving subjects (425 vs 209), slightly higher resolution which is not a huge deal but worth a minor note (26mp vs 21mp), and faster continuous shooting which can be nice for fast moving subjects (20fps vs 11fps). again, both are solid and you will not go wrong with either IMO:).
@@RealWorld Thanks for your valuable words sir👍👍
glad to be of help!:)
@@RealWorld I'll recommend the Nikon z50 because of the amazing kit lenses which were re designed for Z mount and have brilliant sharpness.

great content thank you
Edited with photoshop? Or anything else?
Since I shoot in raw, I need to convert for sharing and leveraging Lightroom for some minor processing:).
@16:30 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Great
Why so much saturation in the images Sir??
the saturation is very little :) ... if you compare the images to the video, the video is color muted to some extent. good observation though:).
@@RealWorld thank you sir, probably I would have 18-140mm ,150-600mm and a prime for portrait.. how is 18-140mm performance sir!??
i found the 18-140 responsive - quick to focus without any major delays and resulting images were sharp
@@RealWorld thank you sir for your feedback! 👍
nice as usual, just to say.... at video colors are looking like good, but at photo mode, i feel that camera has vivid mode on ...colours are so punchie...
Seems like a v. heavy bag indeed!
Looking back - wow, the bag was heavy for the given climb! :)
Looking for a review on the 18 - 140 Nikkor and get 15 minutes on camping equipment. 😒
LOL - this is why I pinned a comment to the top with a bookmark to all the sample photos (bypassing the gear review for those whom wish to do so). Many asked about my gear when seeking a photo adventure in the back country, so I decided to include it (along with hinting at the same in the title of this video:)).
