- "Mrs. Robinson" is a song by American music duo Simon & Garfunkel from their fourth studio album, Bookends (1968). Produced by the duo and Roy Halee, it is famous for its inclusion in the 1967 film The Graduate. The song was written by Paul Simon, who pitched it to director Mike Nichols alongside Art Garfunkel after Nichols rejected two other songs intended for the film. The song contains a famous reference to baseball star Joe DiMaggio.

These guys are not just exceptional in using their untrained voices to produce the standard vocals required for this piece, but they are effective storytellers, too. Considering that is is quintessential American music, having these provincial lads from central Philippines convey not just the sound but also the narrative of the song is nothing less than amazing. Much respect.

Back in the 1970s, I was in the Navy deployed to the Western Pacific and had opportunities to hear the many fine Filipino bands doing covers of all manner of music from C/W to Soul to Rock and to this day I am impressed with the skill and musicianship. These young men are worth carriers of the torch.
It is damn near impossible how they not only play the cover they move from artist to artist with an ease that no professional artist can do. and EVERYTHING IS dot PERFECT.

that's exactly what i had in my mind too! the best thing about this guy, besides pulling off the most difficult notes in the harmonies, is that he doesn't overplay. Still there's a lot going on inside those seemingly simple strokes that he's playing. Cheers to the drummer!!

The guy playing bass doesn't even seem to be trying, and his fingers don't seem to move much, and he's looking around like he's got something else on his mind, but he's playing killer bass lines and singing harmony! On so many songs the drummer and Ron (guitar/keyboards) sing together and it sounds like one single voice.
Someone is shooting this and handling the mixing board and doing a killer job of that too.

The bass seems effortless because the volume of the bass is slightly lower than the two guitars an drums and that makes the illusion.

If you have one, listen with a better quality headphone; You'll be like me. Blown away.... I can hear each instrument so clearly and harmoniously....the bass playing is topnotch! I can't hear it from laptop speakers but on headphones...amazing.
As far as I know, these guys have no formal training in music so they are just learning it by ear. But still nailing every cover that they do like pros. Hats off to this brothers!

Most likely.. we in the provinces of the Philippines cant afford to pay music training.. So im guessing these guys learned by ear and of course youtube, plus hard practice..
In music parlance, the term is OIDO. No musical notes to read , just playing instruments as they hear.
that's just normal in the philippines..i mean most singers do not have proper musical training...they just learn it by themselves, by hearing...by loving music basically...

Yes they are now I believe. This is no doubt because they are sooooo freakin' good. But there are also very good cover or show bands prior to them in the Philippines before. Unfortunately they didn't have the technology that the REO Brothers have in today's time. Had UA-cam become available during the 70s and the 80s, probably there are so many cover bands like the REO Brothers the world can Watch and know.
I bet viewers around the world would get confused who will be their favorite then. But I can say that, the REO Brothers would have been one of the most famous or one of the top-5 then.

I was a teenager in the 70s,this was OUR music. Clicking thru the channels on an 8 track and cussing after the tape deck had just ate our latest $2.99 purchase. Man I love you guys you are spot on.

These guys are great and masters of their craft. Since they weren't around to enjoy that great music of the 60s and 70s they did the next best thing by not only appreciating it today but also covering it...and covering it very well. They got these songs down! This is a very tight band!
