  • I saw Weber Grate Grill Cleaner at Lowe's. I'm an EZ-OFF oven cleaner guy for cleaning my cooking grates, but thought I'd give this Weber product a try. How did it work? Was it better than EZ-OFF? Will I be switching? Watch to find out!

I clean my 22 in cooker grates by soaking a bit in a Dawn detergent solution. Since I don’t have a large sink, I use one of those safety water catch trays that are used under hot water heaters. It is shallow but more than deep enough to get the job done. Home Depot sells them.

Very good video! Especially great that you showed the ingredients label on the bottle and put a new white plastic cover underneath the grate to properly show the effectiveness of the product.

Great video, thank you. I just bought a new Weber Genesis 335 propane grille and I want to maintain it as best I can.

Thanks for the review. You’d 🤮 if you saw my grates. I heat, clean with brush, cook, clean with brush, shutdown grill…repeat for next cook.

Chris, you are just old school!
    Keep doing what you’re doing!
You taught me how to smoke ribs back in 1999 when I first got my WSM !
I believe the 18 “ is still king!’
Can’t thank you enough for what I’ve learned from you and your website!

Good, informative video, Chris. Cost concerns aside, maybe can swap out the spray trigger head with one that provides more of a wider spray pattern that will slightly minimize the lost product and likely have to spray less to cover the grate with product.

Good video. Personally, I was hoping/expecting you to do one side with this stuff and the other side with Easy Off to show a 1:1 test. On the other hand, like a clean desk, an overtly cleaned grill is a sign of a sick mind. 😁 Thanks for showing this cleaning product.

Does no one know about Scotchbrite Xtreme Scrubbers? Swear by those things plus a bit of dawn, it'll get your grates just as shiny if not moreso, less time, more cooking/filming.

Thanks for letting me know. No, I've never heard of them and I don't remember seeing them at the store. I'll have to give one a try.

If you could find the right size of plastic bin with lid, where the grates can be entirely submerged, you could keep it filled with some really strong degreasing solution (Zep or similar), put your grates in it, and maybe it would take care of like 90% of the work. And only change out the solution every few months or so. But at over 80 bucks per gallon, I'll pass on this Weber cleaner.

Might be workable if I had a workshop, but no room for this in my smallish garage. Thanks for the idea!

I have an unused concrete mixing tub (about $15 at Lowes). I fill it with hot water and dawn dish soap and submerge my grates or other grill parts and let them soak. After a few hours (or whenever I get to it) I am able to wipe most everything off with just a dish rag which seems to do a better job of getting between the grates than a brush. I have stainless grates so I don't worry about keeping them in water for an extended period of time. I got this idea from a neighbor who uses one of these tubs to bathe her dog in the garage.

Maybe clean 2 grates at once on top of each other so less waste of the product.
