I just wanted to clarify that I will STILL BE supporting planty businesses. There are several houseplant companies out there that I love and will always order from and recommend! I am just being a lot more intentional and thoughtful about my purchases. I just wanted to highlight the importance of mindfulness and thinking about WHY we want plants. I am trying to focus more on my love for caring for them!! But I absolutely will still be buying plants here and there. Hope you enjoyed the chat 🥰🥰🥰 big love to you all!
Yes, I love collecting but have really fine tuned my collection and have put a lot of thought into what I purchase and what I even want to spend (or trade - always preferred) on certain plants. But I am really loving growing things up.
I’m totally in the same place with my plants currently! I started feeling like I had too many and downsized and now am having more fun maintaining my favorites that I kept. Seems like a common experience among planty people 💗
I really like that you addressed that adulting is expensive and sometimes buying all the plants you want isn’t always feasible. I like the idea of moving more towards trades! Love all your videos girl! Keep em comin!
It is so amazing hearing this from an influencer. I think people, myself included, need to hear this and realize that youtube lives are more similar than we think. And everyone needs to consider what they buy, for an environmental and finical reason
Video idea: Can you please share your jewelry collection? I just love everything you wear and would LOVE to see it up close! Your style is really cool and I love the way you spice it up :)
Fern, I just wanted to say, this video really stuck out to me. I turn 37 this year. I can say, without a doubt, I did not have the level of maturity that you do, especially when it came to future things, like buying a house, saving for retirement, etc. I do now, and I too have reached a place where I'm content with my current collection, and am now focused more on my long-term goals. You've got a good head on your shoulders, and thank you for highlighting materialism in the houseplant community. I got to a place not long ago, where I felt as though I had too many plants, and was starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. My collection has already downsized, as I've lost some plants, and I realized I don't miss them, and they didn't bring me joy. I'm still fairly new to all this plant stuff, but, thanks to you, I've learned a wealth of information, and how to be a more sensible plant parent.
I think it's a common path when getting into any new 'interest'. At first you want to "collect them all" but after some practical experience and gaining knowledge, people tend to become more 'discerning' and whatnot. Also, silver/blue plants for the win!
I have limited space/natural sunlight in my home so I am really selective about what plants to get next. It feels really special when I "run into" a plant on my wishlist and I get to buy it!
Thanks for addressing some of the "uncomfortable" aspects of plant parenting/ownership. While I don't do "buy bans", I am intentional with my plant purchases. I've been collecting for a while and last year's boom seriously scared me. Love trades! Feels so good to acquire new plants so sustainably.
I really appreciate you talking about this!! I have had my small collection of 6 plants for the past several years, all but one of them being gifts. I really wanted a new plant a few months ago to help with my quarantine sadness but decided to redirect that energy into giving my current plant collection the best possible care and learning to propagate them. I've made so much progress in my plant knowledge and decided to buy myself one new plant this week that I'd been wanting, and it was such a joyful experience! I know I can't give a ton of plants the life that they deserve as living beings in my home, so if I decide to get more plants in the future, I'm looking into trades of my props or free-$5 cuttings from neighbors
Propagation is beautiful among the plants you currently own, to grow our collections. And to gift to friends! Thanks for this chat and perspective and I've felt the same lately! Your awesome !
Thanks for talking about this. I have been bothered for a while by the amount of money and energy people seem to dedicate to getting every single type of plant. There are better, more important, and more sustainable things to do with our time and money.
Ugh yes love this video💕 I really needed to hear this. I need to calm the frick down and focus on what I do have. Just made some moss polls yesterday and repotted some things too. Hoping to find some cuuute pottery
I can definitely relate to slowing down on plant buys and starting a savings. Now that quarantine is kind of over and I am vaccinated I’ve gone back to working and in-person school, and have realized that I really don’t need (nor do I have time or room) for more plants atm. I’m focusing on saving for a big move we’re planning on, eventually I want to buy a house so I need to start saving for that, and I really want to have an emergency fund for vet bills or any other emergencies. It’s so easy to get caught up in buying new trendy plants so I am SO happy you’re talking about this! Eventually after moving I’ll definitely invest in more expensive plants
I’ve also put the pause on wishlisting and plant buying, so I can focus more on making sure they have the best habitat to hang out in (especially as we move towards the winter months 😖). Oh, and that whole saving thing. That too 😂😂
Completely agree with you! I used to buy new plants every few weeks but I haven’t bought any new ones all year. Definitely good to practise downsizing and being content with what you have 💚
Loved your video and your decision to be more intentional with your collection. I have recently decided to do the same and focus on what I have (getting nice pots, appreciating the plants I have) and it’s been a real joy. I really like this style of video and your recent plant chores videos. I’m honestly sick of all of the hauls and the constant MORE attitude that consumed UA-cam plant space last year. 🤗
I bought the syngonium for 17€ (6 leaves) in France. Do wait, the prices will probably go down! And if you are interested in comparing prices I also got the subhastatum for 17 and the chrysocardium for 19. Both full plants.
This is some good perspective. I recently became interested in plants over the last year or so with everything that happened (which I am actually grateful I would have never discovered this new love and hobby). But I have kind of exploded with a little too much love haha. Thank you for making such wholesome and informative content. I don't have many planty friends locally in my hometown and I love to watch your videos. You really make a difference!
Oh my gosh!! This video is a mirror image of my new mindset!!! I have recently been changing out my pots and buying and DIYing (is that a word-lol) my own poles or trellis’s. That’s where my focus has been this past few months. I actually love every plant I own right now.♥️
Resonating with feeling content with my collection 🥰 I enjoy caring for them, propagating them, and sharing them with others. There are plants that would be nice to have, but space is limited and funds need to go elsewhere. Plant stores/nurseries are still grounding places that I enjoy visiting but I rarely buy anymore.
Thank you! I have such a hard time spending more then 15-20 bucks on a plant, even if I really really want it. I feel like some of the community is more about collect collect collect no matter what the price is, and if something is not rare or special then people done want it. I love my normal cheap houseplants!
I have the fern leaf cactus and I love it omg! If you get one prepare for it to be HUGE 😩 I’m in Alabama and I found it at a shop in Birmingham called botanica!
Love this specially the first part. Actually an eye opener haha im now in my 30 so i realize these things now!😁 hope u get all the plants u always wanted. Take care!💚
I picked up a fern leaf cactus a few weeks ago! Had never seen/heard of it but when I walked into one of my favorite nurseries it literally took my breath away. And it was the only one there, it's amazing !! It was a full, overflowing hanging basket for $47.99 but I had some "bucks" to cash in so I paid $30. I love it, I promise if you ever do come across one you will not be able to resist
It's called being a adult, and realizing your priorities, we all get excited, and caught up in these beautiful plants!!! Yes I also have realized that I'm at a point of taking care of the plants I really love, and enjoy, if I have one I'm not crazy about I share it with someone who is!!! I don't want too many so I dont take proper care of...Great subject❤🌱❤🌱🤗
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I haven’t been on a ban but have been much more intentional on what I buy. A huge collection is gorgeous but it’s just too much when plant chores feel like a drag.
👁️ have totally been feeling this lately too. I'd rather trade than spend money that could be for my family's future. Once in a while, maybe, but the line has to be drawn so it doesn't create an addiction. Thank you for always being real! 🌱💚💋
i beleive the best way we can all maintain the level of growth we have is to sell plants and buy from others. that way we can make some profit, lower plant costs, and support other people.
I’ve fluctuated up to 70,; down to 58 today and all Plants I truly appreciate. It got to the point where I was buying more shelves and little tables to sit them on and looking cluttered, plus cover pots can get expensive! It’s almost spring here so they will grow a lot and I can leave my house as clutter free as possible. Less is always more !
I started my small collection this year and with less 20 plants, I still get overwhelmed, so I've been backing off buying. I'm waiting for other plant companies start mass producing some these plants to cause prices drop. I can't ever drop over $100, on a plant I might not like, or might die.
same with me. I'm 15 so I can't and won't buy too many plants since where i live, the nurseries don't have alot of indoor plants and i don't trust online shopping. i have 25 plants and around 10-15 of them are from neighbours and family friends.
I'm in the very same headspace at the moment, I have a tad bit of plant overwhelm and have sold off a few from my collection this year, and am starting to trade and it's a great way to get a plant you want without spending! I really want to cultivate my collection too, of course I will still buy plants but I'm thinking about it way more before purchasing 🤗
I feel this! Last year I was definitely in the loop of buying too many plants, but I became very overwhelmed quickly with like 60 plants. I have ADHD and depression so 60+ houseplants was just too much for me - and I spent so much money as well! Many, many plants died in my care, but not all of them luckily. Now I have like 20 or so. I've sold like at least 20 plants this year and so many cuttings and pots. Just so, so many pots. I'm actually quite amazed that I managed to sell so much locally. Now that I've downsized my collection radically I really get so much joy out of my plants. I've bought like maybe five plants this year, and I've definitely been noticing the consumerism that's going on on the plant side of social media.
I just bought succulent and cactus seeds because I want to start my own nursery. This is stuff I need to keep in mind as I go on my little journey to be my own plant shop owner
This is where I have been in my plant journey for awhile. My friends keep asking what my wishlist plants are and I don't have an answer. I'm so content with the size of my collection and what is in it. Love this video and how real you are!
HERE I THOUGHT I COULDN’T LOVE YOU MORE! 🌱🌱🌱thank you so much for your transparency! love love LOVE this video!!!! 🖤🖤🖤 idk if anyone else notices this but i love that you just wear your normal clothes- sometimes even in your jams which i cant even tell you HOW relatable it is- you’re so chill, you’re aesthetic in your OWN way, you’re so damn real & i just appreciate you so much. been following you forever & you continue to be relatable after so many years. i just really appreciate you being so real when influencers can sometimes end up taking a turn for the worse & you have always seemed so grounded & stayed true to yourself 🖤
YES! I have no where near as many plants as you do (somewhere around 70) but lately I have been overwhelmed by all the plant care. I've been selling some plants and trading some that don't bring me as much joy anymore and it's truly relieving. Thanks so much for talking about this!!
I related to your video today a lot! I went "plant crazy" last year... and now I have so many plants. I have sold/traded quite a few. I have my wish list and it has changed so much. I have the realistic wish list and my "if I won the lottery to have a giant greenhouse and not work" wish list. I recently got a Philo Subhastatum. It's so understated. I adore the red backs to the leaves. I am also a big fan of the silvery colored leaves like the Scindapsus and Hoya.
Yes. I love talking about how addicting it can be buying plants, I have a very addictive personality & it’s truly something I struggle with & so many other people! I finished up some trades but I’m truly happy with my collection right now, I bought one last plant recently but I’m truly at peace with my collection & just want to focus on CARING for them!
Love the video! I too have reached the trade stage of plant parenthood. Also I have just recently fallen down the seed rabbit hole. Trying to grow the more pricey cacti and succulents I want.
Totally agree with everything you said! It’s so easy to get caught up in always looking for a new plant and it’s important to be smart with your money. Loved this video 😊
I really enjoyed this topic and I'm trying to do pretty much the same thing! I'm sure I've purchased at least30 plants over the past 13 months! Now I water to focus on nice pots and eventually better shelving units! Personally, I'd like to see you do more of the chillaxing videos, it's a nice change!! 😍
Ok I needed to hear this. My husband always tell me to just enjoy the plants I have for a little bit. It's always exciting to get a new one though!!! I'm gonna slow my roll too lol
YES LOVE! I am right there with you sis! Literally everything you said from being content with your collection and being more aware of compulsive plant buying (hoarding lol) All I can say is I am grateful and excieted to watch my collection thrive and occasionally I will add a new baby ONLY if its something I cannot live without. Great video love
So interesting because I am with you. I am buying a house so need to propagate, and keep up with what I have and trading more. A lot of the fun for me is propagating and caring for what I have. I am especially excited to try decorating my new home with my beautiful collection.
I started my hobby of 🪴 plants a year ago and I learned to only purchase what I have researched on the plant, and care and best place for them in my house. Girl, I literally picked up 2 nursing jobs this week, so I can purchase the Pink Princess, and Thai Constellation and since, I worked hard for them, I will appreciate them more.
@@wildfern and I watch your video’s while, I am doing my night shift computer work. Your video’s have helped me learn more about plant care, products and 🪴 tips. I am soo glad you got to take a break away from Nursing to follow your passion. I went part-time with Nursing and went full-time as a FA ✈️. You have to follow your dreams.
I really appreciate this video from you Fern 😊 I’m personally trying to downsize my collection by giving away the more common plants I’m not that into anymore to friends and family, but also still getting a few wish list plants here and there. So I’m downsizing but also not 😂 maybe more refining my collection? Basically if I want a plant I’ll try and sit on the thought for a long while and then make my purchase, I find going to a plant store makes me impulse buy plants I probably don’t want in the long run! Anyway long story 😅
I have a philo subhastatum and a feen leaf cactus, they are some of my favorites in my collection. They both grow so beautifully and are super tough plants.
Love your concept fern I am totally on the same page I've just been giving my 300 plus indoor around 500 if you count outdoors lol 😆 love it !! I've just been picking the odd one up here and there and totally able to wait till my ACTUAL wish list plant comes along at a normal price and im a disabled mom and wife trying to start my UA-cam and plant shop dreams ....love trading too trade plants trade pots plants are meant to be shared and enjoyed by many not shut up away never to be seen I love seeing a person's face admire my collection and me saying would you like a snippet and sending them out the door with a love of plants ❤ and love plant me Ashley also great content !!
Fern I would love a strawberry shake but whats filling the void till I get one is a strawberry splash syngonium and if you like silver a silver sword philodendron is awesome too 😁💚❣
I have a White/ Red Anderson and it's about as easy as caring for any kind of erubescens species (White Princess, Pink Princess, etc.). I've also found the variegation to be very stable but they randomly throw out big chunks of white. It's been super rewarding to grow so far and I've just propagated it and had 100% success from the propagations. Also, I've heard that it's the product of some funky tissue culture gone wrong, which would make more sense to me than it being a cross. If I'm not mistaken, variegation is often not carried on from pollination. Anyway, I'm looking forward to finding out more about it as it becomes more and more known about 😊
Being realistic about my money, I have a limit to what I can spend on a plant. There is no guarantee it will survive in my home, so that keeps my gambling on plants in check. But I enjoy seeing the rare plants and dreaming about acquiring them.
Way to go on thinking of things other than having all the plants!! I'm new in my plant journey, so I still have a huge wish list.. but this perspective is SO GREAT to hear!
I agree, the frosted heart is not rare or anything but I bought mine two weeks ago and I am obsessed. It was a nice size for $50. I was surprised to see it in my local greenhouse.
I thought it was red Anderson 😁😁 so gorgeous... but just wow and nothing more to do for now.😁💸 but am truly glad you did this video... it's like a therapy which I needed📣
As a plant enthusiast of well over let's say thirty years. The price gouging that's going on right now is ridiculous. Patience will hopefully be a virtue. Philodendron Rio and variegated syngonium for example were available at big-box stores about 15 / 20 years ago. I've never seen the market get this high or crazy period and the worst part is that many of the plants that are being gouged aren't rare they're just quote-unquote trendy.
I am also at a point where I am content with my current plants. Most of mine need attention before winter & as you said, new ones take away from that. I am also ready to purge after said duties are done. I do have some that I will add if the situation is right, but not actively looking. 🌿😘
I completely agree with everything you said. I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the plants I have. I’ll probably give a few away to my family. Nice and chill video, Fern 💚💚💚
I like to try to sell plants/cuttings and then use that as a “fund” for a new plant I might want to buy, so it’s sort of like a “trade” Kind of? Maybe? Lol
I’m in the same place! And it doesn’t mean I love plants less, but I’m at a place where I can do trades sometimes instead of buying and it’s really awesome. Finding contentment in the plants we haven’t isn’t bad! The plants I have now are amazing and I’m thankful to have them now. My wishlist has def gotten smaller this year and I’m excited to eventually get them but I def want a nice flow of plants going out as well
A nursery near me has a huge fern leaf cactus! I bought some cuttings last year, but it was before I really knew how to care for epiphytic cactus and they died over the winter :,^( Now that Ive kept a few other jungle cactus alive, I’m gonna try again soon
I’m in a very similar situation to yours. I won’t pay $250 for a Thai Constellation cutting when I have bills and mortgage to pay. I’m not collaborating with a capitalistic view of a hobby that is so satisfying and relaxing. For me is a 1000 times better to have a Pothos that thrives and is happy than a cutting of a super rare plant that I’ll only upload a photo and then I’ll have to deal with the pressure of ‘this plant was so frickin’ expensive I hope it won’t die’. I’m much more selective with the plants I buy now and plan to buy cute potting and accesories for the plants I already have and guarantee they’ll have a nice time this winter indoors. My rule: ‘if being sturdy and forgiving is not a character of this plant, don’t buy it no matter how beautiful it is’.
I feel like a lot of ppl in the plant community are reaching a point where they want to stop buying/start downsizing. Myself included! I got so wrapped into searching for my wishlist houseplants and would get the plant I was obsessed with and then immediately find a new one I wanted to get. It was a constant cycle that was never satisfied. Caitlin Louise's video on this topic really made me think about it
Because most of Scindapsus shingle and start to flattened its leaves on surfaces. They also crawling on the ground here. I am Indonesian where you can find many Scindapsus here and they prefer to live like that I guess.
I’d definitely be interested in more videos about intentional and maybe more sustainable plant collecting. I am absolutely obsessed with plants but at the same time I’ve been becoming more and more dedicated to a more sustainable lifestyle and yet my biggest interest and favorite hobby is terrible for the environment. The resources it takes to produce these plants in the first place (and then all of the thousands upon thousands of discarded plants at nurserys) along with their pots, soil and mix-ins, transportation, and the water they require. Along with the chemicals some people use. It’s all so wasteful. I’ll never give up my passion for plants, especially house plants. But I’ve been seriously rethinking how I go about it. And most of the interesting and informational channels take a “more, more, MORE” approach rather than intention.
I actually just ordered my Silver Hero yesterday and I cannot wait to see it in person! If the Universe doesn't send one your way before mine gets big enough to share let me know, maybe we can do a trade 😊
I keep thinking I need to downsize, letting them go is hard for me. I started most from small 4 “ plants so I grew them up. I have about 100 and it’s getting harder to take care of each of them. But I do have one wish list plant. A Hoya Matilda 🥰 but I’m not willing to pay the price for a plant that grows so fast and is easy to grow. So why so pricy 🤷♀️ I’ll wait.
I agree on the plant prices they are out of hand. I try to only purchase plants in the summers as I am in rural Alberta and typically ship plants. Winter is when I enjoy the plants I have Because shipping is so risky in the winter.
You should Google the variegated pilea peperomioides plants. There are 3 types: Splash, Mojito and Sugar. You will fall in LOVE. it's very rapidly available here in the Netherlands but I haven't seen anyone over seas talk about them or even own them. They are the cutest
I appreciate this so much. I'm still in school and don't have the time, money, or space to have more plants. One day, I want to have tons of plants and my "dream wishlist" for the future is long, but I don't think about it much because I know I won't be able to work towards having all the plants I want for a few years at least. I enjoy seeing plants other people have but I also am happy with the ones I have and get to care for
I've been growing for a long time. I donated the massive collection I had years ago. ( I mean years ago ) until this spring I only had 2. This second go round is different. I'm basic. I know what I like. My wishlist is very simple but will bring me joy. For example Philodendrons , I love but I have a type. Self heading Philodendrons are gorgeous, if it's not that form I don't want it ! The most uncommon plant I've got is philodendron super dwarf red. I love it . I don't feel the need for super rare plants. I can't see myself spending $$$ only to have my great Dane plow head first into the plant and destroying it. 😳 It'll happen.
Ohh it is such a pity that we live so far apart! I have 3 of your wish flowers and I would say that in Europe, it is easier to get them, and I would exchange them :) But it occurs to me that our plant community is only exchanging super super expensive pieces and is not very interested in these uncommon, but not super rare....

No need to justify your lack of spending.. The people that support you the most will always understand. We don't want you to go broke Fern 🙏🏼🙂👛✔️
Thank you for putting this out there. Mindfulness is definitely something we all need more of.
I’m there with you! Just had my first, an second trade. 😀 Out of space so some have to go!!
Sounds like an awesome idea!
“It’s so expensive to live right now” is the most relatable sentence I’ve ever heard
It’s gotten sooo bad :(
My rule is that I’m only allowed to buy an expensive plant if it’s easy to propagate. That way I can sell/trade/gift cuttings in the future 🌱
I like that!
this is a great idea! it’s like the sustainability motto of only buying things that are reusable/versatile!
I’m totally in the same place with my plants currently! I started feeling like I had too many and downsized and now am having more fun maintaining my favorites that I kept. Seems like a common experience among planty people 💗
Yeah it's definitely a pattern I've noticed too!

Yep! Definitely. I can only speak for myself, but I have the same realities and struggles as most other millennials out there.
Video idea: Can you please share your jewelry collection? I just love everything you wear and would LOVE to see it up close! Your style is really cool and I love the way you spice it up :)

Hey Fern! Always love your videos☺️
I believe scindapsus are shingling plants, they send runners without something to climb/shingle to :)
Chill, layback. Yes. Love this type of video 💚
Oh my gosh!! This video is a mirror image of my new mindset!!!

I’ve fluctuated up to 70,; down to 58 today and all
Plants I truly appreciate. It got to the point where I was buying more shelves and little tables to sit them on and looking cluttered, plus cover pots can get expensive! It’s almost spring here so they will grow a lot and I can leave my house as clutter free as possible. Less is always more !
Ahh that's awesome! I can't wait to do a re-count once I've downsized.
You are young and wise. Bravo. Be an inspiration to other young people. You woke up
You are so smart to be saving your money. Budgeting your money helps. Love your videos!
I'm in the very same headspace at the moment, I have a tad bit of plant overwhelm and have sold off a few from my collection this year, and am starting to trade and it's a great way to get a plant you want without spending! I really want to cultivate my collection too, of course I will still buy plants but I'm thinking about it way more before purchasing 🤗
total feeling this...i was in a cutting stage and then i just stopped and said i need pots and display that i love to feature the plants i really want
I have about 35, I can't imagine 200. I'm already at the point of letting some go that I don't love to get new ones.
Oh wow…Frosted Heart is so cheap here in Europe. They do TC in the Netherlands so you can easily get them for 20. Wish I could just sent you one ☺️
I wish too!! They are so gorgeous haha
ich bin auch aus deutschland:D
Thanks so much for sharing Jani. I'm glad you're at a place where your collection really brings you joy ❤️ That is the whole point after all!
I just bought succulent and cactus seeds because I want to start my own nursery. This is stuff I need to keep in mind as I go on my little journey to be my own plant shop owner
I’ve never heard of the Philodendron White Anderson but now I NEED it 😍😍😍 it’s so pretty!!
idk if anyone else notices this but i love that you just wear your normal clothes- sometimes even in your jams which i cant even tell you HOW relatable it is- you’re so chill, you’re aesthetic in your OWN way, you’re so damn real & i just appreciate you so much. been following you forever & you continue to be relatable after so many years. i just really appreciate you being so real when influencers can sometimes end up taking a turn for the worse & you have always seemed so grounded & stayed true to yourself 🖤
YES! I have no where near as many plants as you do (somewhere around 70) but lately I have been overwhelmed by all the plant care. I've been selling some plants and trading some that don't bring me as much joy anymore and it's truly relieving. Thanks so much for talking about this!!
Yes exactly! It doesn't become fun anymore when it's just a chore caring for a plant that you don't truly love.
We should totally do a trade soon!!! I have a few of your wish list plants!
My fern leaf cactus is one of my favorites! They grow so fast even in lower light and propagate easily
Trading is such an amazing way to get plants SOOOOOO MUCH of my collection & some of my more pricey plants are from trades!
Love the video! I too have reached the trade stage of plant parenthood. Also I have just recently fallen down the seed rabbit hole. Trying to grow the more pricey cacti and succulents I want.
I honestly feel like you've pulled my thoughts out of my mind and worded them better 🤣
Lulu's leaves talks positively about trading. Seems like a smart move to keep from getting buried in plants!
So interesting because I am with you. I am buying a house so need to propagate, and keep up with what I have and trading more. A lot of the fun for me is propagating and caring for what I have. I am especially excited to try decorating my new home with my beautiful collection.
Congrats on buying a house! You're living my dream lol have fun 😍
Oh my gosh well deserved!!! 👏
We are here for the wholesome vibes..
Amen 🙏🏼
Anyway, I'm looking forward to finding out more about it as it becomes more and more known about 😊
I live in Denmark. I recently brought a frosted heart with 4-5 leaves for like 10 euro🌱🙈 lovee you and your energi! 🙌
Being realistic about my money, I have a limit to what I can spend on a plant. There is no guarantee it will survive in my home, so that keeps my gambling on plants in check. But I enjoy seeing the rare plants and dreaming about acquiring them.
I just discovered there’s a dark form Argyraeus! Oh my goodness, they are so pretty! 🖤
This was a really great perspective and I love that you're using your platform to openly discuss it. ❤️
Subhastatum are beautiful, I agree
Way to go on thinking of things other than having all the plants!!
I'm new in my plant journey, so I still have a huge wish list.. but this perspective is SO GREAT to hear!
Yes totally! My biggest advice is to collect intentionally and only what you really love ☺️ or else it inevitably can get overwhelming.
I agree, the frosted heart is not rare or anything but I bought mine two weeks ago and I am obsessed. It was a nice size for $50. I was surprised to see it in my local greenhouse.
Also want to recommend a channel you might like, Fern! Her name is Qcknd, she does tattoo, vegan and lifestyle content, you really remind me of her 🙂
I thought it was red Anderson 😁😁 so gorgeous... but just wow and nothing more to do for now.😁💸 but am truly glad you did this video... it's like a therapy which I needed📣
What a great topic! Thanks for sharing your experience/thoughts on this. ❤️
Thanks so much ❤️❤️
As a plant enthusiast of well over let's say thirty years.
🌿😘
Yes! It's a nice and peaceful place to be.
I completely agree with everything you said. I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed with all the plants I have. I’ll probably give a few away to my family. Nice and chill video, Fern 💚💚💚
I'm so glad it's relatable ☺️ I am definitely going to be downsizing too.
I like to try to sell plants/cuttings and then use that as a “fund” for a new plant I might want to buy, so it’s sort of like a “trade”
Kind of? Maybe? Lol
I do that sometimes too!! It's smart haha.
I’m in the same place! And it doesn’t mean I love plants less, but I’m at a place where I can do trades sometimes instead of buying and it’s really awesome. Finding contentment in the plants we haven’t isn’t bad! The plants I have now are amazing and I’m thankful to have them now. My wishlist has def gotten smaller this year and I’m excited to eventually get them but I def want a nice flow of plants going out as well
Also, the syngonium frosted heart is a plant I just added to my collection and it is fully worth the hype!!
Yes exactly how I feel! I really want to appreciate the ones that I do have in my collection.
Caitlin Louise's video on this topic really made me think about it
I still can't get over the fact that you are that beautiful and smart. You are so pretty!!
Thank you so much 🥺
@@wildfern 💛💛
Because most of Scindapsus shingle and start to flattened its leaves on surfaces. They also crawling on the ground here. I am Indonesian where you can find many Scindapsus here and they prefer to live like that I guess.
Love you, girl!♡
I’m feeling the same way, I’m only buying plants that I truly love. I like this style of video! 😊🌿
Yesss ❤️ Thanks so much Sarah
Wish you were in the States! Along with a few other planty tubers. 💚
Interesting, I really enjoy this video ♥️
You should Google the variegated pilea peperomioides plants. There are 3 types: Splash, Mojito and Sugar. You will fall in LOVE. it's very rapidly available here in the Netherlands but I haven't seen anyone over seas talk about them or even own them. They are the cutest
Omg... just looked it up! So gorgeous! I definitely want one now 😅
Thanks for another great vid. I do understand about the wishlist. I still have a few I want to get. Have a great day.
Thanks so much for watching Candy ☺️
I appreciate this so much. I'm still in school and don't have the time, money, or space to have more plants. One day, I want to have tons of plants and my "dream wishlist" for the future is long, but I don't think about it much because I know I won't be able to work towards having all the plants I want for a few years at least. I enjoy seeing plants other people have but I also am happy with the ones I have and get to care for
I get this so much....you do what is best for YOU!! you're a smart cookie
Thank you ☺️🥰
@@wildfern you’re welcome girl! 🥰
