For anyone starting this game (I've had it for 5 days now), pro tip is to go into this game's versions of palaces and treat it more like a from soft or jedi fallen order type game, that is don't worry about SP as much as you did in the original games. At any checkpoint you can leave the palace, restock items, and come back in with full HP and SP without missing anything, canonically palaces are completed in a single day, so you can leave/re-enter as many times as you want. Re-entering also respawns enemies, hence the comparison to fromsoft/fallen order, its basically the bonfire mechanic Once I understood this, the game became a lot more fun!

It's 100% a musou and in Japan they pushed the hell out of it as a musou before it was coming out. The only reason why they're not marketing it as a musou in the west is because the musou term and genre isn't popular. The combat system is typical Omega Force musou combat.
@@FuzzyDlop Yeah but typically a Mosou is named as such Hyrule Warriors, Pirate Warriors but Strikers is also Persona 5 Scramble in Japan. Don't know how they marketing it there but in my Opinion it has Musou DNA but is no typical Musou Overhaul like PW or HW.

So I beat P5 back when it first came out and I'm currently... slogging my way through P5R, so my question is: does this game acknowledge the P5R stuff? Cause from what I've seen, it doesn't seem to? If it doesn't, I suppose I could just jump into this one without worrying about R spoilers.
I haven’t played P5 Strikers yet, but i know it doesn’t have the P5R stuff, in P5R we have a new person in the party, a girl called Kasumi, and many other things like a new palace and an extra semester in the game. In a nutshell, persona 5 strikers is basically a sequel to persona 5, not to persona 5 royal
It came out in Japan before Royal, so I believe it's safe, and I've heard they don't even spoil much of P5 except a mention of the Final boss.. just what I heard.
Here's a p5s review in a nutshell, if you like p5 or persona games buy it, if you don't like those games don't buy and if your not sure then buy it, so basically if you dont hate persona, buy it That is all
I have never ever played a persona. But I know that the others are turn based combat. But this you combat on your own. Hack and slash. I love hack and slash games! From you fellow persona 5 striker players, will I like this?
@@richwatson1985 The game is way more story-heavy than you would think and it expects you to fully understand the rules of the Persona universe & the characters’ relationships/backstories. If you aren’t a fan of the original game/Royal, then you probably won’t get much out of this game.
I personally watch anime with Japanese voices but I think the English cast in P5 is better than the Japanese, especially Ryuji, he sounds so weird in the Japanese version.
Great review as always. Although, you might wanna clarify there is an english dub given all of your footage is of the japanese VA and many fans prefer english but might not know the spin-off has it as an option... just a suggestion!
So they do talk in English I mean I understand it's a Japanese game but I much rather hear than read my game looks cool though never played a persona game though
Yeah it makes me not want to play this, that confusing timeline is creating an issue in the persona 5 story because it feels like royal has no impact or didn't exist at all 😐
It's a shame they didn't do the Berserk game now that they have more experience... well, not like that would guarantee they would do it more justice. It seems like they put more effort when the publisher cares about their IPs, like Nintendo and in this case Atlus. Because before P5 Strikers the only musou from Omega Force I found to be solid was Hyrule Warriors.
You can start with Vanilla P5, or just head into P5R, which is like an Extended Edition with extra story (a 3rd Semester) and a new character.. or you can even play this one (I'm told), and not really be spoiled too much, especially regarding Royal. I heard they make mention of the big boss from the original, but not from Royal since this came out in Japan before it. But I'm just going by what I heard, and if you want to really not spoil anything and meet all the characters properly then play P5 or Royal 1st, of course. Also, the series are all different stories and characters, like Final Fantasy, so no particular order to start re the numbered games.
It’s really not confusing, I think the reason you are confused is because you think each numbered game is a sequel to the next(Persona 4-> Persona 5) however that’s not true, each numbered game has its own series, story and characters. Sorta like Final Fantasy games.
I dunno why but i'm not feeling it. Royal was so good that i'm afraid this will feel like filler. I think i'm happy with Royal as the complete package. But... when it's cheap, maybe i'll try it.
Eh. That's funny, because it's Royal that is the real filler: it's the only P5 game that isn't canon to the others. That being said, I'm not feeling P5S either. Royal disappointed me and burned me out of Persona 5 related games.
@@sabrakt That is not true. All persona games are canon. Even spin offs. Royal was in development at the same time as this game, so they didn't have the material to take it into account. If there is one that is filler. It is definitely strikers. The non-Atlus developed one.If you play Royal, you will know why too. There is no conflict between strikers and royal being canon. Just one character isn't around, which also makes sense. It's difficult to talk about it without spoilers.
@@NemXX2 Yeeeeah, no. If you had played Royal and seen the ending, you’d know the crew wouldn’t be around anymore, as they pretty much tell you they will all go their separate ways, with Ann even leaving the country. And no, there is no such thing as everything being canon when there are some things that contradict each other. There can be several canons though, and in the case of Persona 5 there are two: the P5-P5S canon, and the P5R canon. Then you can add PQ2 and P5D in there if you really wanna, but considering the events in these games have no impact on the others and the characters "don’t remember" them, it will always make me think that it’s just Atlus’ marketing team that tries to sell them as canon for fans to be interested.
@@sabrakt What do you think happens in Strikers? They were all seperate and headed their own way. That is why they are reunited in Strikers. Are you trolling here or something? You are not the one that dictates what is canon. Atlus does. It is insane to think their own game is not considered canon by them but the spin off developed by someone else is more canon. I can guess the ending of Strikers will leave thing exactly in the same place the ending of Royal did. Spoiler warning for royal! If you played it you'd know that everything that happened on the 3rd semester was reset. So, the ending is the same. Only difference is you got to meet Kasumi and she went off country after royal. That would be why she isn't on strikers, though the reason is Atlus didn't tell Omega force what they were working on. So, if you want to be pedantic, both the extra content of royal and strikers itself are fillers. But one is Atlus filler, the team that actually makes the Persona games and the other is a spin-off. Strikers starts 6 months after the ending and Royal only explores the 3 months after the ending. People are really bitter about royal for some reason cause they didn't want to play P5 again and use the excuse that it isn't canon when it is. Strikers simply doesn't take it's events into account cause as i said, it was developed in paralel. You need a P5S royal version to shut up, i guess.

Hopefully it’s harder than P5R since that game was insultingly easy regardless of difficulty setting (with the only exceptions being the 5th palace boss and the 1st palace boss to a lesser extent).
@@brentclouse7791 Yea the difficulty curve in P5R is for the most part a gradually lowering slope with a few spikes in some of the boss battles and a massive absurdly large spike during the 5th palace bosses fight. That being said when you know what to do it isn’t so bad in later play throughs of the game, as long as you’ve gotten the proper moves and items for the fight, and honestly that kinda makes it my favorite boss fight mechanically speaking because you actually have to put some amount of effort into beating it unlike the rest of the game.
ahhh so it wasn't just me. The 5th palace boss was the only one to give me Game Over but then i just shifted my build a couple times and finally beat it. I think its mostly your moveset you bring in, rather than need to grind. P5R was even easier for me considering I had JUST played through P3 and P4 prior to P5R's release.

there have been indications of persona 3 coming for a while, and some datamining shows smt nocturne remaster is probably also coming, they starting to get more and more of their games to pc, i think it's only a matter of time Persona 5 Royal also comes to pc, but not before Persona 3 and SMT 3 Nocturne Remaster.
Jim Ryan announced yesterday (along with PSVR 2) that Days Gone and more PS4 games will start coming to PC as they get older and closer to new entries, I imagine..
I tried twice to get into P5. I've gotten probably 2/3rds into the first gym teacher's dungeon. But the repetitive nature of the game just drives me insane. Plus-so much STUFF is thrown at you that I started having no idea of what's going on with the Personas and such. I think I played 9-10 hours and it still felt like a confusing tutorial. I put it down a few months ago. Maybe, just maybe I'll give it another shot.
This game gets boring very quickly. The gameplay basically is a repeatedly process with every single stage. Also the battle is tidious as well. Spamming energy skill on elite and get a all out attack over and over again. ( if u run out of sp, u need spam your sp potions to grind over the tidious elite fight I said above).
I'd say it has more in common with Final Fantasy XII Remake than a musou. The ability to slow the action to make tactical combat moves/choices elevates this above a simple button masher.

@@VegetaEx Warriors is a Musou franchise. They're all made by the same company. All Musou games are not Warrior's games.
@@Hazz3r Yes I know Warriors is the Western Term fot Musou. But okay the Japanese Terms has on Overall Meaning so thnaks I learnt something new^^
@@VegetaEx I'm not attacking you here, believe me but this is a Musou game, half of the time you can't see s*** what's going on,Strikers doesn't come close to an actual action RPG ala FF7 Remake,YS8,KH series Hell even FFXV In some way,yes the game isn't Bad,but the combat ain't really something to praise in this game....unless you're a biiiig fan of the Musou genre games.
was just watching your ff7 remake spoiler cast with max and this shows up in my suggested
Apparently there are 1 or 2 very small references to events in Royal, but it's almost entirely a sequel to the Vanilla Persona 5.
It came out in Japan before Royal, so I believe it's safe, and I've heard they don't even spoil much of P5 except a mention of the Final boss.. just what I heard.
@@geoffbaumgartner5335 P5S was released after P5R in Japan.

My mistake...
Here's a p5s review in a nutshell, if you like p5 or persona games buy it, if you don't like those games don't buy and if your not sure then buy it, so basically if you dont hate persona, buy it
That is all
I watch few reviews but I do watch yours , and you convinced me. I had no idea it had so much rpg in it.
Really cool game! Great review!
how about royal?
I have never ever played a persona. But I know that the others are turn based combat. But this you combat on your own. Hack and slash. I love hack and slash games!
From you fellow persona 5 striker players, will I like this?
You need to play Persona 5 to understand the story, tbh.
@@ReKapRaps but do I really really need to play 5. Or could. I still have a good time without it.
@@richwatson1985 The game is way more story-heavy than you would think and it expects you to fully understand the rules of the Persona universe & the characters’ relationships/backstories. If you aren’t a fan of the original game/Royal, then you probably won’t get much out of this game.
Honestly, none of it is hard to grasp and the game and story are fun and enjoyable without any prior knowledge
I really enjoyed Persona 5 but I can't do another warriors game. There have just been way too many already.
It's very different to a standard warriors game in fairness. There's a lot more thought needed.
I'm not P5's biggest advocate, but objectively this does not feel like a warriors game...at all.
Shows the japanese voice acting in the review. Man of culture
Eh.....as I get older Japanese voice acting just bugs me anymore.
The main thing that bothers me about the game is that it acts like Persona 5 Royal never happened, kinda makes Royal seem even more non-canon.
It’s because they were developed alongside each other, Royal is still canon but a different canon.
Playing on Switch feels like Persona is home again. Back on portable hardware.
I have no idea where to start with this series tbh. How many entries are thereeeeeee confusing as fuck..
Best warriors game lol
Getting Bloodworth vibes from Zenkichi....
I still haven't beaten Persona 5 Royal yet
And yet you still have time to complete it.
non-spoiler tip. Spend time with the Councillor confidant to get maximum value for Royal.
Yea I'm currently in December and I've already done the confidants required to unlock the 3rd semester. Now I just have to finish the game.
Strikers takes place 6 months after the original Persona 5 game, disregarding Persona 5 Royal.
Persona 5 is an amazing game. This Spinoff is Amazing 👏👏
Never played Persona 5, but if I ever do I might pick this up.
I recommend you to do so, but also that do not watch any more content about P5 Strikers because almost everything can be considered an spoiler for P5.
@@SystemBD the only problem is I can't play Persona 5 because I don't have time to play a long RPG on a dedicated home system any more. One of the few problems with my job.
@@Vyse195 Oh, so you're going to play for the gameplay alone? You should search if the story gets to much in the way, that would be a problem to you.
@@lucasmelo968 No, he's saying that he's unable to sit in front of a TV for hours to play a game because of hia job.
@@franjaff6919 I can read man... I'm saying that it's better to see if the story don't get in the way of the gameplay because being a sequel to the main game he wouldn't understand the story and characters
Hopefully it’s harder than P5R since that game was insultingly easy regardless of difficulty setting (with the only exceptions being the 5th palace boss and the 1st palace boss to a lesser extent).
For real. The fifth boss made me crank the difficulty to merciless just to help with damage output.
I wish the original was on PC (I can't afford a Playstation, and I'm not sure my old 720p TV has the right hookups if it did.) that way I could get both and experience both.
I am sure it will come eventually. But they probably have a contract with sony for a few years. But as Persona 4 is now also on PC, it is only a matter of time
@@Manoahmanolo I got 4, and I want to try 5.
there have been indications of persona 3 coming for a while, and some datamining shows smt nocturne remaster is probably also coming, they starting to get more and more of their games to pc, i think it's only a matter of time Persona 5 Royal also comes to pc, but not before Persona 3 and SMT 3 Nocturne Remaster.
Jim Ryan announced yesterday (along with PSVR 2) that Days Gone and more PS4 games will start coming to PC as they get older and closer to new entries, I imagine..
I need finish my persona 5 royal , and buy this one !
if any cast was forgettable it is the persona 5 cast, all of them are mediocre as fuck lol.
Wow, this review is striking, just like UA-cam's algorithm.
Maybe, just maybe I'll give it another shot.
game fun and ez
BREATH OF WILD BETEER
This game gets boring very quickly. The gameplay basically is a repeatedly process with every single stage. Also the battle is tidious as well. Spamming energy skill on elite and get a all out attack over and over again. ( if u run out of sp, u need spam your sp potions to grind over the tidious elite fight I said above).
I almost skipped right to p5 strikers. THANK GOD I didn’t. P5 royal is just so good!
Third?
Im gunna pass on this one not a fan of warriors type games it's too grindy and a button mash fest takes very little skill I'll wait for p6.
It plays nothing like a Warriors game. Did you even watch the damn review?
This is NOT a button mashing game. If you button you will die on normal or higher difficulty. It requires actual thought and strategy to do well.
Ok.
I'd say it has more in common with Final Fantasy XII Remake than a musou. The ability to slow the action to make tactical combat moves/choices elevates this above a simple button masher.
wow, a hardcore gamer, amazing, so cool
japanese voice? why? eng sub is great
