Good advice. Personally I cut my own hair with electric shears. It's easy to do; I've got short straight hair and only do what they used to do at the barbers which is run over the hair a few times.

Now we have about 10 Turkish barbers and the original local barber shops have shut down. There's no way there's enough custom for so many barbers; some if not all are just a front for nefarious activities.

I know Hythe well as have family living there. It's a quaint little place and and let's face it to have those Turkish barbers and restaurants in an area basically confined to (elderly) English people is a bit mind boggling. The Scissor's Barber Shop I have my hair cut their and used to charge 8 to 10 quid mainly for us older customers, can't see many local gents using the Turkish places at inflated prices, you know and I know they are probably a front for money laundering which also would include the restaurants.

In Rotherham town centre we have just short of 2 dozen Barbers shops! A lot have very expensive looking chairs usually 3 to 4, but you rarely see anyone in them. They usually have only one guy in each shop sat on their phone, no customers. 10 yrs ago we had just 2 in the town centre(english) and that seemed to be enough to serve the community there. Lots of Roma, Polish and Pakistani supermarkets, it's like a third world town now. Lost I'm afraid.

Liam whats really dubious is the fact Turkey has a conscription draft they all have to do, by the ages of the people working in these places its obvious that they are over here draft dodging which becomes more interesting when you consider both that this is a crime in their country thus we should be respecting Turkish Laws if you think about it and send the draft-dodging ones back.. additionally it strikes me as very odd that your local council is allowing the mismanaged shop occupancy type as business have different classifications and councils are supposed to make sure no one business type oversaturates a high street for the local populations economic and social needs. In lamens; You are not supposed to have streets full of the same type of shops, maybe questions should be asked why the council are not applying those same restrictions on businesses that are non-Caucasian owned in a manner that appears they do not live by the same rules as the rest of us.

That's why you never see anyone in these places. They don't need customers to stay afloat. They're being propped up. Guess who's paying for it.
3 in Stroud centre, one got an en masse police visit a couple of years ago but is still in business. Let's not forget, they only deal in cash so make of that what you will.
There used to be a govt scheme which allowed foreigners to move to the UK provided they started a business. And one of the cheapest businesses to set up is a barbers. The majority taking advantage of the scheme were Kurdish & Syrian refugees from Syria living in Turkey. There's no mystery.
What people also fail to realise is if these people get a young person, particularly with some sort of difficulty such as being foreign, it opens up the possibility of getting all sorts of grants- such as rates reductions for up to 5 years and money towards refurbishment costs from councils. Then there's all the charities set up to help young entrepreneurs and even potential lottery grants for 1 legged lesbians from south east Asia. etc. Quite often these things barely cost them a penny to set up.
In some of our run down towns, 1 in 2 or 3 shops is either a Turkish or ethnic minority hairdressers/barbers. Add to this Afro Caribbean food stores and shops advertising phone cards to phone 'home' and there is little room for anything decent to exist. Our towns are symbolic of the country as a whole.
Also notice all the "Italian" pizza joints, nextdoor to the kebab shop, nextdoor to the burger place etc etc. And the police and council don't seem to either care or notice.
They are given concessions by the local councils to provide jobs for themselves and open up redundant shops, but ostensibly they are money laundering enterprises aided by local government, do a foi request, local councils give them a grant.

I recognise it only too well, I counted 19 assorted barbers, beauty salons, nail bars & vape shops on my local high street, no more than half a dozen or so are old-established.
Same in our town which is swamped with them, as well as tattoo parlours, nail salons and a dodgy tanning salon. The latter is owned by a couple of eastern Europeans. It's opposite our local Spooneys so it's easy to observe what's going on there when you're having a pint. There's no obvious customers using the tanning facilities just a few comings and goings of dodgy looking characters. One of the owners runs an expensive car. Like the other types of establishments I've mentioned it's obvious it's a front for something else.

In lamens; You are not supposed to have streets full of the same type of shops, maybe questions should be asked why the council are not applying those same restrictions on businesses that are non-Caucasian owned in a manner that appears they do not live by the same rules as the rest of us.

In my area it is doubtful that any of them are actually Turkish. Local authorities are to blame for allowing so many to open up in areas too small to justify them.
I always wonder who exactly is on the Council who favours an over saturarion of these businesses. The economy is so poor that whoever was previously renting the premises had to close or relocate. They could have retired but then you would sell the business on.

I've noticed they've all got flash equipment,towels ans state of the arttrimmers ,yet they are almost empty.And cash only!! I've been to Hythe in 1968,lovely place,saw the spitfires flying over during the making of the film Battle of Britain. Great days!! I still use my mobile hairdresser,won't use any Turkish barbers.
There are 6 within about a quarter of a mile on our high street, and most of the time they are empty, we know what they are there for so why don't the police ?.

Rural lincolnshire is full of them. My local market town had 3 barbers ,then they turned up. Big shiny shop 5 employees standing outside smoking BMW cars outside. But the worst thing is the locals ((not many ) use them to the detrament of the other businesses. We the English seem to have lost our fighting spirit along with our principles.
What principals? You are seeing your real principals. It was always an act, there were never any principals in this country. A brief blip of care after WW2 and then it is business as usual.

A question was asked yesterday in my local Facebook community group about why there are so many Turkish barbers. When I replied that they are just a front for organised crime and money laundering, I was of course labelled a rac1st 😂. The truth hurts I guess 👍🏻

Oh dear, so sad to see! When I was a kid in the 60’s living in London, our family holidays were spent in the Hythe area. I remember the rows of apple orchards and smell of Hops. Kent was a typical English county and we loved it.
I know whats going on , you know whats going on , the council know whats going on, the tax office know whats going on, the MSM know whats going on, the police know whays going on and the politicians know whats going on and guess what it is still going on.
The one thing that isnt going on is any haircuts in these barbers.

A friend & I were discussing this topic. Apparently in either the Marrakech Declaration or the Global Compact on Migration it says 'funding must be available to allow migrant businesses to become more than competitive'.
That's why you never see anyone in these places. They don't need customers to stay afloat. They're being propped up.

There used to be a govt scheme which allowed foreigners to move to the UK provided they started a business. And one of the cheapest businesses to set up is a barbers. The majority taking advantage of the scheme were Kurdish & Syrian refugees from Syria living in Turkey. There's no mystery.
What people also fail to realise is if these people get a young person, particularly with some sort of difficulty such as being foreign, it opens up the possibility of getting all sorts of grants- such as rates reductions for up to 5 years and money towards refurbishment costs from councils. Then there's all the charities set up to help young entrepreneurs and even potential lottery grants for 1 legged lesbians from south east Asia. etc. Quite often these things barely cost them a penny to set up.
In some of our run down towns, 1 in 2 or 3 shops is either a Turkish or ethnic minority hairdressers/barbers. Add to this Afro Caribbean food stores and shops advertising phone cards to phone 'home' and there is little room for anything decent to exist. Our towns are symbolic of the country as a whole.

They are given concessions by the local councils to provide jobs for themselves and open up redundant shops, but ostensibly they are money laundering enterprises aided by local government, do a foi request, local councils give them a grant.

I recognise it only too well, I counted 19 assorted barbers, beauty salons, nail bars & vape shops on my local high street, no more than half a dozen or so are old-established.
Starting at £17??? That’s not cheap.
Same in our town which is swamped with them, as well as tattoo parlours, nail salons and a dodgy tanning salon. The latter is owned by a couple of eastern Europeans. It's opposite our local Spooneys so it's easy to observe what's going on there when you're having a pint. There's no obvious customers using the tanning facilities just a few comings and goings of dodgy looking characters. One of the owners runs an expensive car. Like the other types of establishments I've mentioned it's obvious it's a front for something else.
I know Hythe, but I live in a small village of (in ‘21 census) 7.5K, there were two regular salon-style hairdressers for years but suddenly a turkish-style hairdressers has arrived on the scene… it’s all about money laundering…
There is one in a town near me called the Ottoman and its round the corner from the war memorial. What a feckin liberty and an insult. The locals wouldn't be averse to pulling on masks and doing a bit of argy bargy, if you get my drift, so I can only assume they are ignorant of their history. I complained to my local MP, who just got reelected. Didn't want to know.

The problem is Turkish and Pakistan muslins had already flooded in long long ( mid 80s) before the flood of Middle Eastern muslins, i.e., pro palstaine type and boat folk . The only difference is They have been kept under the radar for decades, and no one was allowed to talk about them .
