I was at this show; freshman at Illinois Wesleyan and drove up by myself. They were my favorite band at the time and I remember lurking by their van after the show to meet them. Very, very gracious. They invited me to a diner across the street for a late (v v late) meal. They say don’t meet your idols; doesn’t apply to Superdrag. They were awesome.

I saw them in Tuscaloosa (opening for GBV, 10/18/02) and Birmingham, 12/05/03) a few months apart. Perfection. They were the nicest guys, too. Meeting John Davis was just a dream.
John Davis was/is a talented songwriter/ singer and Superdrag was a kickass f'n rock band. Saw them three times in Boston and they were great every time.
I was there! 20 years old. My first superdrag show! ❤️ Webb Brothers opened and they got in trouble for breaking a microphone when the singer jumped into the drum kit, haha Also, just realized I already posted a comment on this video a year ago, haha
Gawd, I would have loved to be at this show. Been to the Metro many times. Wasn't living in Chicago at the time though. Thank you Superdrag for the music!
I was 15 when this concert happened and it would take another 16 years for Superdrag to come into and bless my life. Wish I could have been to the shows back then - thanks for uploading!
Wonderful memories of Superdrag! "Extra Sensory" is pure auditory bliss. Thanks for all the videos over the years and for keeping the flame (Johnny) burning bright ;)
goddamn i live superdrag! that they are not known as one of the top bands of all time is just another of life's mistakes. john davis writes the best songs and the band just fucking kicks it. i often am in tears listening to the songs and i don't know why except that i am soooo moved
Don Coffey Junior's got some arms! Listen up members of Superdrag, I've been very disappointed that you haven't done anything since industry Giants. I've heard John solo album. I want more superdrag albums really bad!, Superbad!!! Please you guys everyone else is busy making music except you guys. Come on and pull it together!
John and Brandon have a new band called Thr Lee's Of Memory. Check them out on Bandcamp. I recommend the full length records as opposed to the singles. Not exactly Superdrag, but pretty close in a lot of ways. Most definitely worth checking out. I dig it quite a bit
laminateman, are you 'andy' / 'asianguyw/camera' (respectfully) from back in the day? I recall the username from the old superdrag fan board if so we met up in chicago at this show and again in Nashville in 2004
That board was the best. that was the first 'community' I was part of and i was there everyday. swear the setlists would post within minutes of the shows ending. this was 2000-2004 and it wasnt like that back then. good times @@laminateman
ive been lucky enough to have seen them live more times than I can count, many times in more intimate venues. Anyone recall a secret show they did in Chicago the day before a Metro show (i believe). They opened with Emotional Kind. Maybe 100 in a small club.. 2003?

I really need to see Superdrag before I die! They kick it hard.
They're playing next month in Knoxville!
Oh wow, I was at that show! This is the first time I've come across this video on UA-cam. Thanks so much for posting it... what a memory!!

My friend and I saw them in the metro with nada surf in the 90s but I was a drunk then, we saw Deftones there in the 90s too and I met Chi.

Listen to all that sweet electric hum when they mute the strings.
What a show! I've never seen this one before. thanks!
Rene Rodriguez You bet!!
E string on John’s guitar breaks during Do The Vampire and he still slays it.

I've only seen 2 'Drag shows but they are seared into my mind forever. A love for them is rare. They put on an amazing live performance.
A very emotional connection I have with the 'drag...get choked up with some of them songs.
