    Hi Unix, congratulations on reaching 100k subscribers! i always loved your videos! When i see this video and the content of HTB CDSA, it reminds me to your other video when you recommend taking blue team level 1 cert. These two cert have some similirarity and i would like to see a video of you comparing them in depth (strength of each cert, value for money, beginner friendly, etc). Thanks a lot and hope you have a wonderful day!

    • @UnixGuy
      @UnixGuy  6 місяців тому +5

      hey mate thanks for your support! They’re indeed similar and both of great quality. I would personally do both because it’ll give me a chance to practice these intermediate level topics! For what its woth, CDSA is more up to date and covers a bit more topic but they’re both great

    • @lbmerc8
      @lbmerc8 6 місяців тому +1

      I was curious about the same thing. I’ve done the Microsoft Cyber Analyst course from Coursera, Sec+, and was debating what step to take next; BTL1 or HTB CDSA. I went with CDSA since all the content from the intro path and prereq’s, to the job role paths themselves on HTB are really high quality and up-to-date. Plus with the Silver Annual Subscription you get access to all the modules in the SOC Analyst, pentesting, and bug bounty paths in addition to the voucher. I plan on taking the CPTS after so I’d say the value for money is there if you’re interested in multiple paths. To make it even sweeter, I’ve also heard from folks that have done the OSCP, that the CPTS has better depth and breadth of content. HTB is challenging, but it expands your knowledge and skills really forces you to learn how to problem solve rather than rote memorize concepts.

      glad you’re enjoying CDSA its definitely a great addition! whats your career goal/specialty?
      I dont think a network lab is necessary because you get to practice network concepts as you do cyber certs.
      By the way, I’ve released a GRC course thst can be a good addition to your certs/skills:

      You responded so fast! Thank you. I’ll definitely be taking a look at your course to round off my knowledge. My introduction to infosec was through Security+ 601 and AWS. I’m certified in the former, but not in the latter. I have very very basic AWS skills. At first, I was just trying to get a job in “cyber security“ and those efforts were leading me to soc analyst. But that was an uphill battle to get hands on experience (Licensing, system requirements, expensive). So I’ve been studying web application security and network pentesting, which has been the best decision I ever made. You learn A LOT pushing yourself through those labs. I use Linux and burpsuite every day. Enumerate Active Directory, crack hashes, it’s awesome! Ironically, there’s more resources to learn what I believe is the *harder* profession (web application/networking pentesting) than the entrylevel soc stuff. HTB’s CDSA is an absolute game changer here. I just want to land a job; help desk, tier 1 soc or Junior pen tester. Once I get through CDSA, I’m going to get at least one AWS certification (I paid for the courses I just haven’t finished them). The moment, I land a job, the first thing I’m doing is getting my CISSP.
      By the way, I think it was a CCNA lab that you suggested? I want to practice my switches and firewall skills and stuff like that.

    Hey Unixguy i have passed ISC2 CC. Thank you for your guidance. I will complete google cyber security certification in a few days of time. I know that HTB CDSA and BTL1 both are practical certificates. Which one would you recommend doing first after completing Google cyber security certificate??? Also should i do security plus after Google certificate and then HTB or BTL1 or skip it ? Your suggestion is really needed.

      Do this one first and see how you go, and make sure you do all the pre-requisites because you’ll need them!

    I'm currently doing google cyber security certificate after I finish should I jump to soc analyst (hack the box)? Or first shóuld I do all the skills and projects you talked about in one of the videos to make your cv strong and all ??

      hey mate, you can honestly do both! do some projects, they will take 1-2 hours to do, but then come here and do the pre/requisites ans the certs, you will build the required skills this way!

    Unix, I have a question. Once I gain knowledge and certifications, how can I apply the knowledge to keep my skills sharp? I’m attempting a career change into cybersecurity and don’t want to just collect certs and knowledge that’s going to collect dust while I job hunt.

      the courses that I recommend are filled with hands-on labs so you can constantly practice. Dont worry about forgetting things if you haven’t even started learning yet

    I am contemplating either starting the google cyber security certification or starting the HTB certification. I wanted your input on what you think I should start with?

      best is to today the google cyber cert then do this - HTB CDSA is significantly harder so it’s good to have done something prior to doing it

    would you say this course would be better to do than Blue Team Level 1 ? They both seem similar but what did catch my ear was that the Hack The Box version has a training course on how to professionally create a report so others can read it and non technical people could understand it. Blue team sounds better because of the hands on experience for Splunk but still confused on which one to take. Can you plss help thank you

      they’re both extremely similar, you wont go wrong with either . this one is a bit newer

    What would you recommend doing first out of this HTB course or BL1?

    I currently have 2 more courses until I complete the whole Google Cybersecurity Certification.
    Would this be a good transition after? Or will going straight into the blue team level 1 certification be better?

      This would be a great transition after the google cert, start with the pre-requisite and have fun!

    In your roadmap video to cyber analyst you recommend blue team level 1 sertification. Which one is better in your opinion?

      they’re both great! go with HTB CDSA as it’s newer but they’re both fine
