You stated there are more male psychopaths than female psychopaths, also you mentioned female psychopaths use different tactics, aren’t the stats are inaccurate when we only consider physical violence as abuse, obvious that male psychopaths goes to jail often, female psychopaths keep abusing without any legal consequences. And used to be the case most of the data on psychopaths and narcissists comes from jail. I call the stats are completely inaccurate. You answered my question in away when you said females use flirting and sex to manipulate and control, males use aggression. No female psychopaths going to jail for flirting and sexually manipulating.
In my last job I worked for someone I thpught was a narcissist, but others said he was a sociopath. He had grandiose plans for the company and could captivate people at interview and in meetings, and the company was doing okay. I enjoyed it for a while as I had freedom, but after a year I started getting less freedom, the goals were very short term, a day, or an hour and not weeks or months. On conversation he would agree with me on everything non work related, he was my best mate, but on any work issue I was expected to do as I was told. Obviously I was being played (manipulated). I sat 3 meters away, and on several occasions while working I realised he was having a conversation with me, it was weird, he hadn’t approached me or anything. He did not respect boundaries, he wouod walk up to me and start talking, expecting me to stop work and listen immediately. On several occasions at my desk I looked to one side and he said “Do you need me Leif”, obviously he was watching me. It was creepy and controlling. Most staff hated being there. In two years I saw no aurhentic communication, it was 100% behaviour designed to manipulate. I was once told off for saying good morning with too much happiness. I like to relate to people I work with, relationships matter. I left as it sucked me dry of all enthusiasm. Many others felt the same. I still don’t know if he was narcissistic or a sociopath. But he was toxic, a cold, arrogant, manipulative and deceitful person. But he was charismatic, and it took me a year to see through him. Most people probably see him as enthusiastic and charming, at least for a while, until they realise it is all one way. He was public school, and 90% of the ones I have met are cold and arrogant, with sociopathic traits.
Narcissists are emotionally unstable, volatile, dramatic and erratic. A psychopath is more calm and collected, yet callous. Both are manipulative. Btw they keep promoting Dr Todd Grande's videos... Not a fan :p.
I have definitely been binge watching your channel today! However I don’t know if I completely agree with this. I don’t have any medical training, but I have personal anecdotes. I have a long history of mental illness since a very young age. During my last depressive episode my doctor referred me to a clinic, where I was pushed towards taking a personality test in order to access treatment, as they had the idea that something deeper and more serious was going on with me. After 3 months of questionnaires and interviews I was diagnosed with NPD (where I checked all boxes for diagnosis) and HPD (where I checked just enough for a diagnosis). I have been in therapy for a year with a forensic psychologist, not because I’ve committed any crime, but simply because he’s been exposed for more than 20 years to APD where most have narcissistic traits, and he was thought to be the best match for me. During this time I am learning how to be more self aware of my behavior, and my actions, I am nowhere near being able to act on it and influence these, but I am able to recognize them and talk about it. I have found that manipulation is something I enjoy, the feeling of power is thrilling. But I will lie, apologize, and admit I am wrong as long as it gets me what I want, because to me it proves my capability of reaching my end goal, and I am not bothered in the slightest by being wrong. My narcissism is rooted mainly in my intellect, I like for people to have high regards of my intelligence, and I am seldom bothered by critique on other aspects, do you think is this nuance that makes apologizing and admitting fault so easy for me?
I'm afraid I cannot answer your question without assessing you in detail in person. But I'm glad to hear that you're getting help and you seem to have a high degree of insight.
Please don’t hurt people around you! It’s a life long trauma people will have to live with. Don’t marry, don’t have children! Just find a partner for your sexual needs, but try not to manipulate that person sexually.
@RM - Thank you for sharing your insight. It’s hard to understand why people manipulate and lie. I always assumed it’s a learned behavior with some genetic component. I have a family member who does what you described and it has affected our relationship. But your explanation gives some food for thought. - Ignore the trolls that responded to you. You sound like a good person doing your best. 😌
Have you noticed an increase in narcissist and or psychopaths since you started your practice because I’ve noticed a lot of entitlement and lack of empathy and responsibility throughout the world by people of all ages and I don’t know if there’s a difference between that or if we’re getting an increase in psychopaths and narcissistbecause the way the world has changed that would be a very interesting topic to address or you can address it with me that’s fine thank you for everything. I’m so glad that I found it helps put things in perspective with people.
just found your channel. question is it possible for someone to have both narcissistic and psychopathic disorders or traits? I am dealing with someone who seems in my layman's opinion to exhibit traits of both ie never admit to wrong and completely manipulative to gain advantage. thanks in advance.
Dear Edward, Absolutely - Personality traits are basically just a description of an aspect of somebody's character. Therefore, anybody can theoretically have any or multiple traits, or even multiple personality disorders. I hope that answers your question. I hope you enjoy my other videos. Do me a favour, and tell all your friends and enemies about my channel! Many thanks.
I went out with a narc( as sure as I can be) , my therapist said some of his behaviour was psychopathic and sadistic. What would that combination look like in your opinion? I'd like to see if I'm/we're right .
Me too! I think there are some narcissists who have malignant tendencies and are pretty much similarly dangerous. The only difference overall that I have noticed, the biggest one at least is that they definitely have the potential to feel empathy, guilt, shame they are just compelled to the point of revulsion to hide them so would in theory be amenable to change, whereas a psychopath is completely unable to. He understands them enough to fake them and manipulate you,but his brain just seems unable to register them.
Am i correct in thinking psychopaths do learn from their mistakes, just not their moral mistakes, since they have little to no regard for commonly accepted morals?
Agreed. Maybe it’s the volume, but I agree it’s distracting. I just kept thinking I was hearing the Miami Vice theme. That said, I love the friends chillin’ behind you. :)
Neither types can be healed or cured ....... Don't even try. They can only be monitored from a distance. As for women their are as many out their in society but they tend to be alot more cunning and devious in operating behind the scenes. Sadly children and male partners bare the brunt of these toxic dangerous women. Young men and boys need to be very aware ....
@Flowers of the field Yes, but keep in light that 90% of woman are physically weaker than their husbands. Altho I’m sympathetic to abused men, it is the fault of men themselves for these stats so…
are you able to do a video regarding narcissistic abusers vs psychopathic abusers, especially considering coercive and controlling behavior
Really helpful overview of the difference between anti social personality disorder and psychopathy

Great video! So interesting now I seem to be looking at members of my family and trying to work out if they have one of these things
Could you do a video on covert narcissists vs the overt kind? Thanks.
And if you could also cover the causes of narcissism, or each type of narcissism. That would be great!

But who with those psychiatrists see?
This one certainly comes across as a narcissist in his videos!

This is a great clarifying subject.
One of the diagnostic criteria for NPD is "taking advantage of others" ...so in fact you did misinform earlier in your presentation.
what about malignant narcissism which some say is a combination of psychopathy and narssicism?
How can you have emphaty for other people? Like when they say their mother died, do you feel their pain?
