"I guess I was your little Misfortune for a while..."
That's the part where I had to pause to cry.
It hurt my heart to see that part.
I can honestly say that was the first game scene to make me audibly sob as soon as she saw her own body in the road.
Yikes forever indeed.
I also had this happen. I told myself I wouldn't cry, but oopsies
@@sleepykitty8918 that rhymes
I think that's when I cried too..
Mr. Voice may be evil, but he gives her balloons and tries to stop her from eating drug candy off the ground. He’s a demon, but he has standards
BTW, he pop that balloon, so he only has that one thing going for him of: trying too stop jack/ Misfortune from eating garbage candy, with, cigarette buds, and, random pills. (i can't tell if that makes up for his evilness/ count as standards, because. it's only one thing, but it's a big and important thing???)
And he care about language
Lol he is leaving the boat
he doesn't have standards. He wants her in pristine condition for his own ends
@@benaffblack fair, that makes sense, morgo sees misfortune as a toy for his collection/ to play with/ be entertained by/ to enjoy forever (That's another way to look at it)
When you realize that jack didn’t get the best ending because he missed one freaking sparkle
Huh whatchu mean..?
@@nuhazariat7389 Towards the end of the game, all of the things you threw glitter on thus far become a sparkle on the tree. Get all of them and you get the true ending where the lights go to the mother and give her eternal happiness.
Jack missed 1 last thing that he needed to throw glitter on
@@koheikyouji it was more the the doll the jack mistook for glitter/ sparkle and jack didn't see is because the cloud of glitter sparkle happiness was in the way
40:37 pretty sure it was the deer. It has a heart over it indicating it would give him the sparkle for her heart but he missed it because it didn’t react to him throwing glitter at it. He must have been just slightly off with his aim.
@@NeytiriPhoenix it was actually in the previous episode...i forget exactly what it was, but i think it was a ghost from Phantasmagoria. i remember seeing the smarkle indication and when he left it started screaming at the screen telling him to go back LOL...i knew this what the outcome from then. when i watch ihascupquake play it years ago, she missed a sparkle as well.
*Interesting fact* : In several cultures, the fox is the animal that is represented to follow the recent dead ones through their path until they finally go to the afterlife. So the choice of the fox wasn't a random one
Another Wolf :0 how interesting! thats a cool touch dang
Another Wolf that is very intriguing.
also, in many cultures, the crow is a trickster and one should be wary of following one. they're said to know too many secrets of the dead and a living person learning those secrets will not be in a good way... that following them and listening too closely to them can lead one into...
Misfortune.
So the fox is kind of like the Greek god Hermes

What hits me the most is that misfortune was a victim of abuse, SHE was the one that deserved love the most and yet when she died all she could say after seeing her body was “ what have I done”… blaming herself for her own death…blaming herself for not being able to get the Eternal Happiness for her mother...
Yeah butactually she got the eternal happiness for her mother but doesnt understand it...
Adding another level of sad to this
She blamed herself for her death, and it was her father who hit her with his car. The tire tracks go directly from her body to his car
The puppy died early on, but was there to greet Misfortune the moment she entered Senersedee.
The puppy waited for her.

When she said goodbye to her mom the "little misfortune" wasn't capitalized, which means she probably thought she was a burden to her mother since she was always so unhappy. She's such a sweet character which makes this really hurt

I always saw it as her mother was trapped in an abusive relationship (her father) because she had a child with him

omg I know the game pretty well but I never noticed that! :o
And when she says 'he will not know he's dying', the teddy bear is crossing the road. Mr. Voice also then asks what she's talking about even though he was obviously there
What's sad is that the voice may be an evil demon but he gave misfortune basically the best day of her (after)life and even though he got annoyed by her he was still nice to her, nicer than her own parents ever were.
Yes. That’s what really makes their character to conflicting for me. They did want to steal her soul and manipulates her almost constantly. However, he really wanted to give her a good time, was more of a father figure than her actual father. And he ultimately gave her good advice. Don’t eat the candy, take deep breaths, and gives her lots of guidance. Even if the guidance isn’t for the best. She obviously thought that the guidance was helpful and probably (in the early stages of the game) viewed him as more trustworthy than her father. That’s why his character is so conflicting for me.
Plus she got to die at the end and be free from her horrible life.
When she starts the “new game,” there’s a ton of birds outside her window.
This game proves that birds aren't real

Nothing disturbed me until Mr. Voice shoved Misfortune to the ground. You could tell he was becoming more controlling to the point of violence. It really pissed me off, and I sat there in shock like “THIS MF DID NOTTT”. The way they portray their relationship, with Misfortunes obliviousness and Morgos manipulation, is so well written. This is such a fucking good game.
If you were really shocked by THAT, then you most certainly overreacted. I was expecting far worse things. And you really think that this little game is well written? This is the most basic story where a evil villain acts nice to try to lure a kid character somewhere. And what was that ending supposed to be? This isn't a complete game. I watched the whole series hoping something interesting would eventually happen, but it was just a lame, extremely obvious twist, and no payoff, just what I'm guessing was her meeting Death.
@itsloading4ever wow you're so cool, edgy and intelligent! 😘😘 did you grow that attitude yourself or did someone help you? But really, there's no reason to be so rude and negative towards someone just because you apparently don't enjoy the storytelling and idea of this game. If you really feel it's beneath you to enjoy something, just click away. You enjoy your things, others enjoy theirs.
@@itsloading4evermy guy, the story requires thought to understand. there are tons of little details throughout. The twist wasn't that Mr Voice was evil. It's incredibly obvious. The twist is that her father hit her with his car and killed her. He then went to prison and Misfortune's mother was freed from the abusive relationship, but it only came at the cost of her daughter's life
The commenter I replied to was talking about the point where the narrator revealed his true nature, so that's why I was talking about that 'twist'. And anyway, I guessed that too, and that's a less interesting twist than the narrator not being what you expect. What I'm trying to say is they could have made it more interesting at least.@@WishGender
I'm not trying to attack anyone who likes this game, it's an alright game, but I definitely don't think it deserves glowing praise, or the reaction that the original commenter gave. Also, I kept watching because I EXPECTED an actual twist, obviously. I was disappointed at the very END of the series. If I thought nothing was going to happen, I wouldn't have kept watching. I finished the series feeling very underwhelmed, and then I looked at the comments and saw all these comments praising what I thought was a pretty basic little game. There are far better games that are more underrated and deserve more praise. @@JustAnotherLittleHuman
1:02:19 It says "Olycka" which means "Accident". But it can also translate to "Misfortune". Since the game is set in a swedish town, I think Olycka would be her given name in the native language.

You could hear the smile in Death(?)'s voice when she said "Lady Misfortune?" And while creepy that whole scene is so wholesome. Misfortune never knew she was even dead. She was suffering so much. And now this stranger is treating her with such kindness after the whole thing is over.
POV: Her name is actually little Miss Fortune 💕
But she forgot her true identity all along and misspelled it bc of Morgo. It was written on Benjamin's note that Morgo can make victims forget their identity. So, as a side effect of the creature's presence, she was starting to slowly lose her identity. Starting by her name. Which is the first thing used to identify us in life.
And that explains why Benjamin writes in the diary that the victim's code name was Misfortune. "Code name" instead of name.
Maybe that was only the nickname her mom used to call her before.
She was actually her mom's little Miss Fortune and the only one able to give her eternal happiness (a constant reason to feel happy).
Although her mom was very irresponsible, neglectful and abused alcohol. She was extremely depressed because of the domestic violence she had to go through and her motivation in life was her daughter. Through motherhood she found a purpose, a strength. Although she is terrible at showing her affection.
Perhaps their family was peaceful before and she had a healthy relationship with her daughter. That's when she gave her the nickname. But then, after the violence, she started to resort to alcohol gradually more and felt mostly guilty about the way her daughter was being raised. She felt guilty for having a child with a drug dealer, who beat her and her daughter and for not seeing any other way out of the situation other than abusing alcohol.
"Misfortune" would try to make her mom's dark feelings go away by throwing glitter at her. But it wouldn't work. She wouldn't even try it with her father though because she didn't get to know his good side and/or because she was afraid of him beating her too. She may have tried before and that's how she got that rock thrown at her (maybe she tried to stop him from hurting her mom by throwing glitter at him).
Glitter would make anything better but no matter how much glitter she threw at her mom, it wouldn't fix her.
So, she started to feel that it was somehow her fault and that SHE needed to make it right again.
Misfortune knew the aggression wasn't ok, and resented herself for not helping. She resented herself bc her mom was not ok but still had to take care of her (since her father is a drug dealer, probably a drug addict too and an abuser. And he wouldn't even think to take care of her). She probably also felt that if she wasn't there, her mom wouldn't be so afraid to leave her dad. And she could've already left him if it wasn't for her.
Therefore, she felt rather like her mom's misfortune instead. That's what made it easy for Morgo to target her. The girl's secret guilt and desire to compensate her mom. Morgo is a parasite from the beyond who feeds off of little kid's deepest unfulfilled wishes and needs.
I also believe that she secretly felt like if she disappeared from her mom's life, everything would be fixed.
So, it makes sense why Morgo invented this game purposely outside her house (it could only make a game based on the kid's wishes. In this case: go away, get eternal happiness for mom) and why he lured her to the middle of the street.
Yes, I believe she died because of Morgo. Not that she started seeing Morgo bc she died.
That explains why she could see Morgo way before the day of her death (as the monster inside her closet she refers to. Later on, she concludes that the monster has always been him). And y she's able to hear him and interact with him before getting hit by the car.
The parasite lured her to die so he could forever feed on her wish to disappear from her mom's life and so, grant her happiness.
Misfortune's misinterpretation of her own name must have to do with how bad she felt for her mom.
I strongly believe she though everything would be better without her.
That's y at the end she says: " Mommy, I'm going somewhere else (...) I guess... I was ur little misfortune for a while. But you need to find your own happiness now"💔.
Basically: mommy, I'm gone. I guess I held you back for a while... but u can stop worrying about my happiness and u can be happy now ("find your own happiness now")
Wow... That's a lot for a child...

@@ursimp7774 Thanks! ☺️
And I agree, this game is one of the bests for me
this is such a good explanation of what's going on! Misfortune is actually Miss Fortune but bc Morgo kept making unfortunate things happen around her after she agreed to the game, it cemented misfortune and she forgot her original identity and what she meant to her mom
the way i didn't understand why the "code misfortune" until now. you're smart
Her name is actually misfortune, being in an abusive situation and having a child with said abuser, is how misfortune got her name

Oh god... Welp, that's even worse than a hit and run. Surprised that the mother didn't strangle him.
Wasn't the car already in the driveway when she crossed the street though?
Christy F wouldn’t be surprised if the mother left him after she took off her mask
Jed Snobes It might have been when she went back home, cuz the car wasn’t in the driveway yet and her house was all creepy when she went in.
I love that Mr. Voice slowly and progressively gets more and more impatient with Misfortune.
And makes up for his little slipups with more sugar sweetness
nice touch that in 54:31 when Mr. Voice speaks the music goes normally, but when Misfortune disobeys it gets distorted
I really like the addition of the town “phantasmagoria” which is a play off the word phantasmagoric, meaning to hid behind a good persona while being evil in reality.

@@AB-yr3rx she was dead the whole time. That is why morgo was after her soul.
Yes. She was dead from the beginning. That's why, even before you leave the house, the mother doesn't react to you.
I know I'm a little late and someone else has probably already said it, but the true ending isn't exactly the "good" ending. It technically is as her mother receiving the "Eternal Happiness" means she is happy, but the reason is because Misfortune is dead. As stated in the beginning, the mother wanted an abortion and only married her husband because of Misfortune. And now that she's dead, her mother is happy. It's pretty fucked
that is messed up just saying
Hello your comment is from a long time ago but I'm rewatching the series now lol. I agree. I feel like deep down, her mother wanted to care for her, but just couldn't. I really wonder if there was a co-dependency between her mother and Misfortune, such as the only thing preventing her mother from killing herself was Misfortune. In the true ending, if you watch a playthrough or clip of it, the mother is still crying after she takes off her mask, but she smiles. I wonder if the mother still is horrifically upset that her daughter died and she didn't even get to say goodbye, so she wasn't ready, but realizes that she can somewhat "restart." Her daughter's dead, and her husband is going to prison for DUI and murdering a child, so he'll probably be locked up for a very long time. She most likely hates that her daughter died but just knows it's for the better for HER. That being said, she's still pretty fucked herself. Like I said I think she wanted to be a good mother but just didn't know how with the domestic abuse, so she turned to alcohol and cigarettes. Idk just a theory.
(also someone pointed out that Morgo was the closest thing Misfortune had to a parent, and honestly....I really agree)
Thank you! Glad I wasn't the only one who hated the "good" ending to the game. No, her neglectful mother who stayed with the man who THREW ROCKS AT HIS OWN CHILD does not deserve eternal happiness, especially not 2 minutes after learning her 8-year-old was run over.
@@callmeanon660 Sorry, but I have very little sympathy for women who have children and stay in an abusive relationship. Unless it's the kind where he literally chains you to a wall while he's gone or asleep, you have the power to leave. Even if they think they deserve the abuse they can't possibly believe their kids deserve it. Most of the women who stay in those kinds of relationships care more about sex than their kids and I don't have any tolerance for that. I'm not a confrontational person by any means, and I would probably be useless in a physical fight against a man, but you better believe if anyone threw a rock at my baby I'd kill him or at least die trying.

@@oliviabytner1614 what makes you think he's not trying to manipulate the audience too?
Unfortunately, it's common for abusers and manipulators to earn the trust and respect of those close to who they are abusing and manipulating so they can continue their abuse and manipulation without being questioned or doubted. It's why so many victims end up trapped in situations where everyone thinks they're lying, which, as you can imagine, makes it harder for them to escape.
Just because someone does something nice for you doesn't mean they have nice intentions for you.

well and the fact that it was her dad was driving it but I guess thats not too important a detail
This is the beat summary I've ever read🤣✌
Fun fact actually, the newest sally face episode reveals that Sally’s face is gone because he was shot in the face by a cult leader with a dog-like outfit. Sally’s mom was in front of him and died by the shot while protecting Sal
@@kachow8615 I'm not sure it was just the cult leader. It would takd more then one gun shot and his mother in the way to do that much damage to his face

She was dead throughout the game tho

it really shows the innocence she had; even though she knew a lot she had so much hope and she just wanted to make the world brighter in her eyes.

Kiri wa doko desu ka means “where is the end” (implying he played the game too)
Kiri can mean fog, but here, it probably means end/finish
It means fog, there is fog in the realm of Death a.k.a. Senersedee. He is trying to find the entrance to the afterlife
It could mean either. It depends on the kanji
@Thomas Lewis
Nice reference
I think it means fog because the last doll literally says “deep in the FOG you defeat him”
Kiri could be being used in place of kimi, which could make the the translation be "where are you?"

Ah, yes, her death gave her parents all the joy they needed, as she caused them sooo much trouble, now they wont have any thing to worry about.
@@chugetnuget6230 I realize I was wrong now XD. But, originally I wasn't commenting about her death but rather how a child is considered a gift, ect.

I was here for the same jfkdkdk
Very good attempt Sean, you missed the good ending by 1 thing and that's pretty damn good for a blind play through. The only thing that changes endings in this game is whether you glitter everything or not, and it's really easy to miss them.
I love how so many things in this game confirms so much about Fran Bow. Before this came out, people weren't sure whether Fran Bow was some crazy, schizophrenic, depressed kid that hallucinates because of her medicine, or if all of those crazy things really happened to her. Especially because of how crazy that game gets, it's kind of hard to believe that any of it really happened.
But this game confirms it did happen. The theory you read in Fran Bow about F.R.E.E and the 5 realms is all real in this game's lore, everything that happened to Fran really happened, that's why this game shows so many creatures from Fran Bow's game to confirm Fran wasn't just crazy. When Little Miss Fortune is following the fox at the end she's traveling through that between realm that Fran Bow always entered whenever she took her medicine, where all the really crazy creatures exist, so this confirms Fran wasn't just crazy because we're seeing the same creatures through another character.
I don’t read it as: “little misfortune”
I read it as: “little miss fortune”
Same
League of legends
EXACTLY cause she's a little lady ya know
little misfortune means little bad luck
I think that’s the point
I love how this DEMON spent half the game telling misfortune to stop swearing.

21:27 When you kidnap the talkative child:
Dudee, that happens all the time!
Coming back 4 years later because I realized that Misfortune was dead before the game even started.
Hence why her mother 'ingored her' from the beginning. Her father ran her over the night before, as we can see from the tire tracks outside at the beginning of the game. She was dead before we even hit the play button
Misfortune: “This looks like the creepiest place to ever exist!”

@@woodpecker4053 , maybe the narrator wanted the girl to have a good time before dying. Maybe their not so heartless
There was an lsd tab too
I know morgo is like the devil and stuff, but he was still so much better at being a father than Misfortune's own father.
So true
He's the one who led her to her death in the first place, though.
He told her to leave her house and cross the street.
That is how she got hit by a car and died.
Morgo is also the one who dragged her friend Hiro away when Hiro tried to warn her.
Also, he tried to stop her from going to Senersedee.
The lore of the game is that there are Five Realms:
Primeve, Ithersta, Pandora, Senersedee, and Apollo.
Senersedee is the Fourth Reality where Itward and Benjamin are from.
That reality is where the souls of abused children go after they die.
Morgo is a parasitic creature from The Beyond, a realm that exists outside of the Five Realities.
He attempts to intercept the souls of dead children and take them to The Beyond instead.
While he was nice to her, his intentions were never truly kind; he caused her death, lied to her, dragged Hiro away, and even knocked Misfortune down in order to intimidate her into playing his game.
I cant accept the fact that mr.voice actually took care of the “little lady” more then her parents did, taught her manners, protected her. Then ended up being the villain. Like that’s so twsited

i just like how her name can be interpreted as both misfortune and miss fortune, implying that nothing is unfortunate, she is fortunate.
Well, her name is Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez.
And given that she was dead during the entire game after she crossed the street, I don't think her name can be construed as being fortunate in any way.
Sean in the cabin: "I'm going to respect Benjamin's privacy and not read his diary."
Sean literally one minute later: "DRINK THE TEA!"
Sean: ok, I'll respect benje's privacy, but I'll drink his ecstasy imbued tea.
Thats the real tea...
That sis really spilled the tea.
It's not nearly comparable but ok.
'Misfortune is so annoying even death killed himself' - Jack 2019
Lol
"Mr Voice" took control of the man in the death robe. That's why he never spoke and why he drowned himself. Imagine not having control of your own body. Imagine having to watch yourself leap to your death while the malevolent spirit pulling your strings uses your death as a mere lesson to silence an oblivious child who doesn't know she is already dead and will soon suffer more at the hands of your murderer.
I know I'm probably getting overly poetic about this but DANG it would suck to be that guy
All the creatures at the end of the game are recognizable from fran bow! Which means that they're intertwined and that fran bow also experienced something like this w/ the multiple realms
