It's cheap for people who don't live there. They find it cheap because everything is almost 100 - 500yen. When you live there like I did for 2 years. Everything is so expensive with a Japanese salary. Apartments in Tokyo are no less than 100,000 yen with a salary monthly salary about the double. If your from the USA with 5k with ticket and hotel included your good to go for 2 weeks.
Flying with JAL or ANA is the best. It flies Boeing 777-300ER or 787-8, 787-9, or 787-10 for ANA. JAL has Boeing 777-300ER or Boeing 787-8 or 787-9 Dreamliner Aircraft.

In Japan, supermarkets are cheaper than convenience stores. Bread, lunch boxes, and drinks too. In the evening, there will be a discount sticker, making it even cheaper. Drinks are also less than 100 yen.😊
