Back when all three detroit companies weren't afraid to say there competitors names
and wasn't obsessed with electric engines
I drive an '85 with a 225 Slant 6. Runs just like the day it drove off of the lot. Passed down to me by my Grandad. Will never get rid of it.
I’m sure it does run just like the day it was bought, that slant six will run forever... just so long as you’re not in any hurry to get where you’re going, lol.
Very cool
Dude just casually walks while having 1 ton weighty vehicles above him.
When Dodge redesign the pickup in 93 or 94..idk, they had the new one hanging above the old square body design. I wish I could find the commercial for that. Under the tarp was like a mock-up of the old truck... I don't know what it was made out of but the new one dropped onto the stage from out of sight behind the curtain. It wasn't really high up so it wouldn't bounce too much. and it crushed the old one.
These are by far my favorite body style out of all the dodge truck generations
Are they still your favorite?
*FUCK YEAH!*
I own a 87’ Longbed D150 with the original Dog Dish hubcaps, it’s finally having a repaint this year. Repaint will be a special paint. I can’t believe Dodge went from the classic square body look to these ugly ass “round body” pickups of today.
I mean look at GM; they keep the Square Body alive with the 2023 Sierra and Silverado.
@@nikerailfanningttm9046 I’ll buy it off of ya for 12 bucks and a case of coors light lol
@@The_Big_Blue_Dodge sorry dude, my custom Doncaster A4 stays in the family.
@@nikerailfanningttm9046 ah damn it’s good I’ll keep on lookin
It's crazy that these trucks are now worth as much as they were when they were new.
More probably!
Can you imagine being an 18 year old kid back in the 80s watching these commercials? I know I would’ve been dreaming about owning one of those trucks. Especially when the cummins first came out in 1989
it would have been awesome to be around all these old trucks new. I don't know if you would have wanted the cummins though because you wouldn't have known they were so good. you probably would of went for a ford diesel for the extra power and proven reliability since they came out in 83.
@@evananderson3350 These trucks were junk. Chrysler Corporation was just recovering from bankruptcy.
Back then, as a teenager, I used to cut out photos of Dodge trucks from magazine ads and tape them to my book covers.
I can imagine watching them as a 5 year old, cause I did!
Bullshit, that just isn't true. @@meyersd66
Ah I remember the 80s. When trucks fell from the sky....good times.
They still do. Just watch @whistlin diesel
@@coletrain5629 lol
Nobody:
Not a single soul:
Dodge: LETS DROP TRUCK
Guaranteed chassis damage. Just for promo lol like all the General Lee's being totaled after every jump.
@@MrBig-xc9gc it didn't look like any suspension damage happened
I feel like the reason they built them as tough as they did was so they could drop them 10 feet for fun
@Keenan Pablo shut up
@Derrick Alaric shut up
"Guarded against rust" as I re weld plate metal onto half my d150
😂😂😂 that’s funny asf way under rated
Dodge should drop the hellcat in a commercial.
hellcat and or demon in a doge truck stick shift
The good Ole days when the sky rained Dodge Rams
What I miss most about these old trucks... their pricing.
And quality
@@BulbBunny I know nobody looks at the 318 LA, but that thing is stupidly tough. I mean, it could put a lot of Toyota’s to shame.
That LA 318 is amazing. It’s the perfect work truck motor. I have a 1991 Dodge Ram 150 with it. Last year of the LA engines in those trucks. I hauled 2000 pounds of junk to the junkyard one day and you would hardly have known it was there. Great low-end torque, decent top-end power, dependable and tough like a work truck engine should be. The transmission is geared like a work truck though. Hard to run more than 75 on the interstate. Just pass me and you’ll be alright. Haha
When they dropped the truck is what made me buy one i still have my 84 ram
@@no_4259 I've tried everything I could, but I couldn't kill mine. 12 month oil changes, towing 2 to 3 times the rated limit, and constant driving with a heavy right foot. my triton engine couldn't compare.
Something about that animated one is awesome
I might end up getting a 84' Dodge Ram 1500 that's literally rust free for 7,500. It's a phenomenal deal that I just can't pass up.
These trucks really hold their value. Try buying one today….
The guy off camera air dropping trucks:
"Bygod, I love my job!"
Wish I could be there to buy one brand new off the lot
Same
Me too. But with wages back then it would be tough.. I have one now but with today's gas prices I cant afford to drive it😁. Haha
Yessir! I’d want an ‘82 ram miser step side overdrive 4 speed slant six!
Looking out the window at my 83 w250 it's hard to believe that at 1 point it was brand spanking new lol
@@bstan1886 me too 😂
Haa! Check out the prices. My first new truck in 85 was just over 13,000. That was allot of money! Aww... The good old days.
80s, a decade doesent get any better than that🤠
When I was in the Army in the early 80s they had thousands of 350 diesel Dodges, sometimes the boxes would break loose.
I love the dropping trucks bit. looks dangerous as hell though
He was spawning them with cheat codes
ItsYourBoyAhmed 😂
I wanna see them do that in today's commercials drop a 2020 dodge ram
@@DavidSmith-gb1mj bitch'll snap. 😂😂
I wanna see them drop a brand new one
Still have my 88! Bought it at an auction for $800
Back when dodge made trucks and Fiat didn't have anything in dodge
Back when Trucks actually showed you why their vehicles were better and they showed the reason why they wanted them In your driveways
I love this generation of ram, they were so simple and they meant more than a social standard of 2nd gens. But I can respect both the 1st and 2nd gen rams. I wish the magic of these Era of trucks would still be around
Fair enough
0:45 that one's mine. Ran across it by accident when I was 16 and I love it.
They sure do like dropping trucks from the sky.
Not as much as whistlin diesel
@@coletrain5629 Ahaaaaa 😂😂😂
Bro I love how the trucks fall out of the fricking roof
Think I will go drive my 1989 Ramcharger now.
"Lordy lordy! it just be raining dodge trucks!"
Man they made it rain Dodges for a few years haha.
Those Ramcharger turbines are nice, and strong
Those old Dodge trucks sure looks a million times better than the new Ram 1500 and 2500 trucks.
Half tons yes, newer half tons are basically just suvs with beds put on the back, not so much trucks anymore. The 3/4 and 1 tons are the only true trucks it seems like nowadays
@@tennesseecurtiss5741 Thats true.
You've got to be a blind bat if you think so
I have a 2015 and I respectfully beg to differ 🤦♂️
Love the Dodge Ram trucks
I remember the old commercials. They dont drop todays trucks from the air because they would totally break apart and be destroyed.
They need to bring back the D50 to compete against the Maverick
Love my 78 D-150 and these drop truck ads
I wasn’t expecting that old Earnhardt dodge commercial. That dealer is still here in Arizona
That’s where my 91 d250 is from lol 😁
These are my dream trucks. Hard to find one for a reasonable price and without 300,000 miles on it
most of them have rotted out...I had several of them in my years and they were all rust buckets
@@bultacowally yea. It’s all in how you take care of it. My dad has a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and it’s all rusted out. His buddy has same one and it’s in perfect condition.
They were sweet trucks, wish I had a couple laying around
Honestly the chevy like a rock commercials are by far the best!
Did I just see that? 10.9 finance rate? What a deal
Lets drop Rams!
Hell yeah!
I have owned Ford and Chevy trucks from this era and they just were not as low maintenance and reliable as my first gen dodge Rams. I still own a 90 ramcharger with a 318 and I have never had trouble with the engine. I have replaced water pumps, alternators, tune up stuff and that is it. I will never sell my ramcharger because it will never die.
BTW, I don't like that they dropped the Dodge name to be just ram. It will be a Dodge forever to me.
Dodge sucks
@@blakeryder25 your Moma sucks
Just throw it from the roof 😂👍💪
Ahh yes, back before all the horrible new design language, back when they had real v8s, and didn't have stupid driving modes, you just got in, started it and it worked.... Hate New trucks and cars, what I would do to buy one of these new as a hs kid in 1990 blasting rust in peace on a new cassette... No infotainment bs or anything else that makes things more expensive then it had to be.. Real buttons no bs...
Now that’s a Manly truck
I've owned an 83, pickup slant 6, a couple of Ram Chargers 318, and now I have an 87 Pickup 318... people keep asking me if I want to sell it... I see them used in a lot of TV shows and movies...
I was a dodge fan in my youth. I owned 2 ramchargers, a plymouth trailduster and 3 of the D150s with the magnum engines and 1 D250 cummins. I kick myself for not being a hoarder and letting them go. I had the D150s, 2 with 318s, 1 with a 360 and all 3 had 5 speeds. I wish I could get a truck like them now. There was also never a better pull your boat to the lake truck than the Ramchargers. Great power, sat low and towed great. I guess those falling trucks really brainwashed me in hindsight.
Every time a vehicle was dropped, I said out loud "Oh my god." Mechanical sympathy kicks in.
Totally awesome
It all began in March 20, 1981.
if i can find a single short cab between these yrs would be so fun to have
Commercial goes hard asf
they're beating the hell put of these trucks lol
I'd dare him to drive it away, given the clattering crunch they made.
Man, I would take that dually Ram
0:33*drops ram from 100 feet*
1:06, the drivers side front wheel looks like it bent after impact.
independent front suspension makes it look like that.
Definitely
Well their not lying you could drop a Ford like that it’s frame would bow in two and a Chevy would have springs flying off like projectiles
This proves to me that Dodge and Ram need to be merged back together. When you think of the Ram pickup, you think Dodge. Period.
Guess dodge loved to drop their trucks from 12ft in the air decades ago
They just did commercials better back then.
I wish they’d go square again
Awesome trucks I wonder why these trucks from the 70s ands 80s are not common to see on the road like the rest of older Fords and Chevy trucks?
I dont think near as many were sold.
They sold more broncos in one year that nearly ten years of ramcharger production.
I think it’s a regional thing honestly. I’ve heard this question asked before, going various manufacturers directions. 60’s-80’s dodge are EVERYWHERE where I’m at. Chevy is second. A couple hours away, nothing but Ford. My thoughts/experience.
"You'll have more horsepower then Ford or Chevy" 🤣 like kids bru
Kids have console wars, men have truck wars.
My first vehicle was a 1990 W150 Clubcab with a 318. It was stock except for aftermarket wheels but did I ever like that truck.
10.9% financing! what a deal!
Dodge: we fall from the sky!
1:17 I think thats the ramcharger the bad guy with the weird haircut drove in "No country for Old Men"
Ram Tough Trucks!
Neat truck
I love how they drop their trucks from like 20 feet!
And yes, I know it's cg
They should think about bringing back the old body styles it worked with the mustang and the animated ad might work better when they come out with their first electric ram they way those ads were made were cool I was only a kid so I didn’t understand any of that wonder what it will be like in 20 years maybe taking about total self driving
How come only 89 Cummins commercial was only one with actuallly rough off roading when ford Chevy were making super crazy off road commercials that actually make you think holy cow. Dodge was just like let’s make commercials that are sci fi. I own first gen Cummins and 1 ton 4x4 and 1ton 2wd. But dang ford made some cool commercials and so did Chevy
I’ll take a 93 extended cab W250 with the Cummins and 5 speed, please... and a 93 Ramcharger with the 360 and 5 speed, too. And the red 90 Dakota Club Cab in the background of the last commercial, because that’s the exact truck my dad bought new in 1990 when I was seven, down to the color and all.
The ram charger its 4x4?
@@jrderue2431 Most of them, yes. Dodge was the only one to offer their SUV of this era with 2wd, the K5 Blazer and Bronco were always 4x4 only.
YEEEOOOO they were just dropping trucks fucking FEET from the actor?? That looks really real to be 80s CGI. The 80s were a different time man.. goddamn😂
You know there saying a lot that they have rust proof bodies.
2021: literally every dodge under the year 2002 Is known for either being rusted out or has rust somewhere
My 89 sat 8 yrs before I got it. Rust free truck
Show me any older truck without rust
DODGE RAM 🐏
I was sold at 5.9 Cummins
As someone who owns a 1987 D150 8’ Bed, I can confirm that actually dropping a Dodge shows how durable they are. Try that with a ford: it will crumple!
I remember when my dad tried dropping our new Dodge Truck from the ceiling like they did in these inspirational commercials. Unfortunately when our truck dropped all four wheels popped off injuring our entire family! It also bent the frame and the engine block cracked and detached from the transmission. Mom then left us for a guy who sold Chevy trucks. Dad still had to make payments and we all went into poverty. So, whatever you do, don't drop your Dodge truck from the ceiling and ruin your life.
MOPAR #1
I can already see the rust forming
Gave life by the horns.
6:40 good ole foggy mountain breakdown for some great background music.
Do all these dodge trucks just fall out of the sky or what 😂
The most 1980’s commercial I’ve seen
When trucks were trucks
NOT
4 door luxury grocery getters
Awesome!
Oh hey bud 👋
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 Hi Brotha!!
I wonder what dropping a pickup truck from 20' does to it, and what happened to the ones they dropped. Did they go to the dealerships?
At dodge we drop every truck to ensure quality baby!
There is damage when they land. Front wheels have excessive negative camber.some of the commericals one of the headlights are out of adjustment
6:25 “magnum Cummins diesel”
What’s in a name?? Lol
Who was singing that jingle that was playing around 4:10? He reminds me of Paul Davis or Paul Overstreet.
Five feet or 50 seconds, whichever comes first.
10.9% financing...ouch!
Dropped to 2.4% at 1:53 (not sure what year)
Who was the actor?
When the Dodge Ram was actually good
Can someone tell him to stop spawning dodges with console commands?
Its funny how they keep droping the trucks
11% financing was considered a deal? LOL
