Welcome to our video on minoxidil and how it works for hair growth.
Minoxidil is a topical medication approved by the FDA to help treat male and female pattern baldness. It’s been around since the 1980s and has shown to be very effective in helping people regrow their hair.
So how does minoxidil work?
Minoxidil works by improving blood flow to the hair follicles and stimulating hair growth in areas that have been balding. The exact mechanism by which minoxidil works is still unknown. But studies have found that minoxidil helps widen the hair follicles and increase the size of the hair follicles, allowing them to take in nutrients and produce thicker, longer hair.
Furthermore, minoxidil helps stop the production of DHT, which is a hormone that is known to cause hair loss. By decreasing the production of DHT, minoxidil helps reduce the amount of hair loss and in some cases can even reverse hair loss.
It’s important to note that minoxidil does not work for everyone and results may vary. If you’re considering using minoxidil, it’s best to consult a medical professional to get their opinion.

Dr, I'm your old patient (had Spine Fusion in 2016 and now doing well). I recently undergone Hair Transplant (3 months ago) from an experienced Surgeon, he has prescribed Tablet Lonitab 2.5 mg (minoxidil) plus topical application (Dr. Reddy's GAIN +, Minoxidil and Finasteride) also Dutasteride tab 0.5 mg. Since you mentioned Minoxidil Tab is not yet FDA approved, so I'm now worried if it is safe to take further, please advice?
It is safe only. Please have a discussion with your transplant surgeon about the efficacy of Minoxidil tablets. To my knowledge, only topical Minoxidil is recommended for hair growth.
