  • After a breakdown on route to our planned campsite, three days later we managed to get away to a local site. Proving that you don't have to go far to have a great holiday.

Hi Dave, that marker light is the reason why we feed the awning from the rear, which has its own complications, the curve is super tight at the rear and a right pain in the ******* to feed past the join in the rail.
Keep up the excellent work anyway.

Hi Dan, I think I remember you mentioning it in a video. I have tried feeding rather awning from the back end once before, but never again 🤣
Looks like the marker light on your new Alicanto is a different profile and closer to the rail so my Ramp wouldn't work. It's like Bailey is trying to support the spare marker lights industry.

@@DTSquared you know, i didnt even consider the new one had different markers, I assumed they'd all be from the same bin of bits. I know the Ridgeway had the same as yours - ill have to check this out and see if I can pull it from the front from now...
      Good shout!!

Dave, your original development of the marker light protector was great, the new 3D printed one is genius. Having one would greatly help having knocked off the light cover at second use of the awning, now with a recent torn shoulder ligament my wife says your marker light protector will help her enormously (that’s me putting up the awning😂).Great videos and great videography 👍

Glad you enjoyed the video Stewart. Injured shoulder is a good reason for a marker light protector. I'll see what other reasons come up before deciding the winner. Best of luck and hope your shoulder is better soon. I did something similar a few years back and know how painful it can be.

Hi Dave, great idea with the marker light, I saw your original video creating the wooden version however I am to woodworking what chubby brown is to subtlety! I do however have a 3d printer and would be eternally grateful if I could have the.stl file please?

Thanks Keith glad you liked the marker light protector. I've just posted it on Thingiverse and updated the description on the original video to include the link. But here's the link to save you having to go find the vid.

Hi Dave , a little bit of genius with the marker light protector but we always put the awning on from the rear so don't have the issue of hitting it. Just a question re your lock n level did you really need it at the site as it doesn't appear to be inflated every much. But another good video. Gaz

Thanks, Gaz. glad you liked the marker light idea.
In terms of the lock'n'level, we pretty much always use it. Partly because even on a flat pitch, it's often not perfectly level, and the LnL allows millimetre adjustment (up) so can get the van perfectly level so the sink drains, etc. Also, the gravel was quite deep, so it wasn't as level as you might think.
More importantly, the LnL is the only way we can fit both ALKO locks without jacking the van up.
But you are correct it was almost entirely deflated.
      Dave

what is that extending slider you are using. looks very compact and portable. tell me more. thank you. i do like those moving shots you got.

Thanks I'm glad you like the moving shots, they take a lot more effort to get but I enjoy them. The extending slider is the Moza SlyPod Pro. It's basically like a monopod but motorised and heavier, it has a detachable tripod base so you can use it to do vertical lift type shots as well as sliding out to do horizontal shots or other angles if attached to a full tripod. Definitely much more compact than the traditional slider that I used to use, which came in a case about 100x30x10cm and once setup was a real pain to carry around sites. Like most devices these days it connects to an app so you can control how fast it extends, start stop points and all that fun stuff.
EDIT : Just noticed your channel, I also did a review of one of the ATEM MINIs a few years back when I setup a multicam system during lockdown for a friend who teaches music :)
