This is the real thing. Rituals of herd behavior. Ranchers use to turn out their mares before Quarter Horse Breed was syndicated and build stronger working ranch horses. The JUG HEAD on a wild horse is closer to the real thing. WY has the beautiful where Many Calvary horses were turned out after WWII. Thanks for the share! Love natural rituals shown.
Watching two stallions fighting is not something to enjoy. It is brutal and heart wrenching. Especially when they are yours and one gets very hurt. It is something I will never forget
Whoever filmed this doesn't know squat about horse behavior. This is sparing (playing). If you actually ever saw stallions fighting you'd never again confuse it with sparing.
yes, these horses are fighting *not playing.* no, there is no blood or gore, and shame on you if that's what you came here for, but it is fighting to establish dominance. it looks like the paint was in charge of that mare, but the solid black took her because he established dominance over the paint. horses DO NOT WANT to hurt each other in the wild because a hurt herd member is a burden. this stallion simply believed he'd make a better leader for that mare, and after a tussle, the paint agreed and backed off. if the paint hadn't, it might have escalated. that's the problem you run into with domestic horses, people cause problems, they think one rear and the horse is gonna die, or the fence causes issues. this is a natural behavior that people should allow for, not try to subdue. horses should be allowed to have horse friends, even if they "play" rough
Even when horses figth they tend to control their kicks unless is a predator. In that case they would REAL figth. Once i saw a horse deliverd a REAL powerfull kick to a wolf. The wolf went flying backwards and died.
I don't know much about horses but I love riding and love horses ... I came here because I was watching Thunderhead Son of Flicka and they mentioned an albino that came down from the mountain meadows each spring and raided the herds for the best mares and that he killed a couple of stallions in doing so and it showed him stomping one to death -- I had NO CLUE they did this to conquer a mate (or several) so I wanted to see for myself ... don't be so quick to judge - a lot of us are merely learning more about horse behavior... or trying to
+Steffi Winkler they're* and if you watched the documentaries on these horses you'd know them by name. the black is raven, buckskin is spirit and I can't remember the paints name. Don't think mares have balls.
I don't think they are fighting they simply seem to be messing around because their ears are forward and the movements are done without a dominating energy?! If they really were fighting, there would have been very bad results! ☺️
Yeah, looks like that to me too. If a stallion was defending his mares he would be dead serious about getting those other stallions away, he wouldn't just stand around with them I think.
Nope they are mustangs! :) Wyoming has a pretty good few hundred I think. Nevada has more though, but Wyoming definitely has more than a good sprinkling of them
Fighting? They're youngsters goofing around - buddies, and part of the same bachelor herd, almost certainly. We have a word for this in English: horseplay. Also: funny how "defending his mares" slips into the description... despite the absence of mares. Never let facts get in the way of a good, solid preconception... Really, really scary how ignorant many folks are when it comes to healthy horse interactions. If the horse isn't under 24/7 control, locked in a super-max stall, they're lost.
The brown one is the smart one. He's just going to stand and watch the other two kill each other and then he's going to go help himself to all of the women.

They look magical.
Those are bachelor stallions playing around. They will frequently spar with each other for practice for when they have to fight for real to get mares.

Very nice....
Good video of horses .
that buckskin is freakin smart too, he's keeping out of the "scrap". He knows he'll live to f... another day.
awesome video thank you
It''s more sparring than fighting. But nice horses.

They aren't fighting they're playing. If they were fighting there would be more violence and blood.
JumpTheClouds I never said they were fighting, I's just a general comment :)

These could be three young bachelors who don't yet have their own herds.
pretty sure but not 100% sure that its the lead mare(brown) and the father(all black) teaching their son(black w' white socks) how to fight

The red stallion is gorgeous!
Great video but you have to say the geographical location.
They are not fighting. They are bachelors sparing.
seems like north america have the biggest wild horse.
Have they even seen a real fight between horses?

Hi mam

No
they are prbly just a herd of bachelors( young stallions that dont have a herd)(herd-the group(family))
Yah I thought so too.
I'm not seeing any boy parts, looks like two mares having a bit of a disagreement to me, or just playing.
+Steffi Winkler look closer they are definitely studs
+Steffi Winkler they're*

If the horses were fighting their ears would be pined back, bowing and snaking.
OMG THERE SO CUTE!!❤️
Oiiiiiii 🥰
They're mostly sexually driven .. how is that cute

Actually, even serious fights rarely end in injury. Usually just scrapes and bruises. Horses are very careful and every move is carefully calculated.
Nice👏👏👏👍
that buckskin is freakin gorgeous.

The big black stallion (i'm assuming) looks like raven from the movie Cloud:stallion of the Rockies
you can see bite marks on the horses body's.
Pity this video is so short.

They were just playing. If they wanted to fight they would of.
Just horse play. No bared teeth
the horses are not fighting i know cuz i have over 102 horses and those are not even stallions cuz if they where they will fight better
I doubt you have 102 horses with that grammar.
+Cali Breyer I was thinking the same thing XD
+Isabella Gramer. 😂
***** What? I don't understand a single thing you're saying.
***** Dude she spelled it the same way you did .-.
I think the mare is confused
this is definitely a fight this is how they start but the dominant stallion stood his ground and they knew they had no chance
Horse play, they are grooming eachother at one poin
I don't think they were seriously fighting
wild Stallions
This isn't fighting. Its placid. Playful.
