I love them both. Gotta admit, Journey has had some of the best lead singers ever. They don’t get the recognition they deserve since Steve Perry was just so incredible.
Barithon doesn't mean that you can't sing high actually. It means that you can sing lower. There is a lot of barithone singers who can sing pretty high. Freddie Mercury or Geoff Tate for example.
As a kid in 83 when I put Frontiers on my turntable, I played the second side because it was the better side of the record. JSS nails the opening track.
Is Soto like close to 7 feet tall is Neal just short? Lol! Great performance here. Jeff has a great voice, but many didn’t think that he fit the “Journey” mold in terms of his voice and appearance. Irregardless, he has a great voice, and Neal and Jonathan treated him so unprofessionally by dismissing him without even telling him. The revolving door of Journey’s vocalists and personal continues…No thank you.
He had a great .. voice . But their seemed to be something Neal and Jon didn't like about him as frontman . It could have been something about his personality . I have seen a clip when he was in Journey , where he would not take a picture with a fan . And said was because he didn't like how his hair looked .
Guys, the primary reason JSS was fired (and he was fired) is that his behavior became increasingly erratic and was consequently starting to obstruct the rhythm of Journey as a team of highly successful, professional musicians. For example, observe the way he, at times, races around the stage even violating the personal space of Ross Valory on guitar. He comes a little too close to the keyboardist Johnathan Caine and, at one point, tries to distract Neal Shoen on guitar. You really don't wish to make Shoen uncomfortable because he was the founder of Journey, which he formed with Greg Rollie after leaving Santana which had hired the young guitarist when he was only fifteen years old. In other words, Neal is a thorough professional completely dedicated to his craft and to the music industry. Pinel Arneda has been able to bring back the professionalism, style and grace on stage that Steve Perry was famous for. It is as though JSS never learned the art of choreographing his stage movements to blend in with the other musicians.
I UNDERRATED HIM BACK THEN.....mistake.... the guy is smokin here.... Ive got a good quality boot cd of a gig that year.... he is great and even managing to sound like Perry here and there.... BUT..if he had stayed..it would have destroyed his voice.... this isnt his "proper " key....
This was before Arnel joined the band. Jeff Scott Soto was asked to fill in when Steve Augeri became ill and can longer sing. For a while their Drummer Deen Castronovo was doing lead vocals, then Neil called Jeff in to finish off the tour
@@jerrymanlunas6098 JSs has his own voice, Arnel is still trying to imitate Perry. I'd say JSs has a very powerful voice and at one point had a near 4 octave vocal range.
Jeff owned this song. What a performance!
Saw Journey with Jeff in Baltimore. Amazing show!
JSS really nails this!! Thought he was awesome in his short stint in journey.
I preferred Steve Augeri.
I love them both. Gotta admit, Journey has had some of the best lead singers ever. They don’t get the recognition they deserve since Steve Perry was just so incredible.
perry is extremely skilled tenor voice - imagine how good you have to be as baritone (JSS is baritone) to sing his line

This is a great version of this song, it is very difficult to sing. Awesome!!!
This concert was in San Bernardino, CA on October 14, 2006
"YOUR PERFORMANCE, PERFECT IN EVERY WAY-PERFECT"!
Much respect to JSS...this song is HARD to sing. Perry was at the top of his range on this song basically all the way through it.
Jeff is hot AF
Reminds me of Michael Hutchence’s charisma
I never heard of him - thank you for posting!
Neal just obliterating everything as usual 🔥Lord have mercy
Awesome
What a performance by JSS
JSS is a monster. They should have kept him as their lead vocals.
Knicks........Yeahhhhh
THE POWER OF BLUE, MAGICAL MAZE!

3:00 Incredible!!!!!!
JSS and Neal Shon full power...
This is far bettr than what they do now, wow
Great song
Love guitar tone
JSS is in my top three... right up there with Ronnie James Dio and Geoff Tate.😎
Respect for remembering Geoff Tate the best progressive/heavy mel singer ever!
Woweee!!!
They should’ve kept this dude.
Very nice job!
You haves videos from Soul Sirkus and from the Evolution Tour 1979 ?
They shoul have kept JSS as their lead vocals.
Impressive...

I've met both many years ago: Jeff is around 1,95 m. and Neal around 1,65 m.( m stands for meters)

Sure? Like Steve Perry never did that? I suggest you to Watch Houston concert on 1981. He did it all the time.
Arnel is just cringe on stage. Spinning like a madman and dansing like an indian around the bonfire! It is just oughhhh!
"...In a spellbinding rage... "
Can someone post Message of love from Baltimore??
JEFF SCOTT SOTO Vocals
✌
Was this at Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino?
This in a khazi?
By Journey standards this is a somewhat angry album. A couple members were suffering divorces while it was being made.
Don't see where arnel has great stage performance runs around like crazy man just not journey maybe ACDC or ozzy

Your insane man, arnel is more good than JSS..

Scott Soto did not do it for me , voice was off and just kept messing with his hair..thumbs down, to Neals mate.
