Had a lot of comments on social media about my headlights on my previous e46’s so this time around I decided to make a DIY video.
This method applies to all e46's. M's and non-M's.

I’m so jealous that bmw headlights open up so easily
Gnik4144 i to had a problem with opening my lights. What i did was i put Them in the oven in my home. About 80° Celsius for 20 minutes. All rubbers and gleu go soft so they open up easy. Clean your lenses OR the dirt will bake in!!

Looks great! but you need to very lightly smoke the corners to match. It's an optical illusion and makes your car look really narrow when you black headlight backing but leave corners clear. It'll look wider and meaner with very light smoked corners. You may have already done this too. My 2 cents.

It looks cool but indeed the high beam output got downgraded
On e46 with hids they’re bixenon our high beams are on the hid not the regular bulb.
Luis E46 is bixenon on the coupe? I have a pre facelift sedan and my hi beam is separate from my HID.
@@SydeshowMO depens what xenons u have, some xenons have hi and lo beam in them, so u can code away the halogen and just use the halogen as "flash to pass"
Also have a pre coupe 03, with xenons, not sure if they are factory though.
I like the blackout mod. However, I thought the reason for the reflective silver inside the housing was to direct light output. It may not effect the HID but should effect the highs. May require a retro fit Bi-Xenon setup. Curious to know what your lighting looks like at night.
The Xenons handle both highs n lows. The inner light with reflection are just daytime running halogens. When I do this mod to my M3, I'll remove these bulbs completely.
some car use the xenon, some dont. did this to my 330i and i no longer have highbeams haha

@@mojutubakaunt he made a video about an installation. It's much more informative to include all the process for the beginners out there. There so many people that can't afford a second pair or they just want to get it right the first time. You being a smartass doesn't help in anyway buddy.
I believe I have those exact same Angel Eyes. I live in Canada and have had them on a year through the winter and now summer and they still work great!

Like you said they look sick, but the downside is that when you cover the bulbs "housings" with paint you lose the directional function of the nickel plating and the light beam pretty much stays right in front of the car and doesn't reach far enough. Not a problem with xenon because they have a dedicated lens for that but in your case the mainbeams probably get impacted (both on mine which doesn't have xenons). I wanted to do it with the mainbeams housings in yellow/gold to get an old school bimmer look but I ended up wiping all of it and loosing some nickel plating in the process

You hook up the angel eyes to the interior lights for that pro BMW look and sick dimming feature not the turn signals. I think blinking Angel Eyes with the turn signals make any BMW look cheap (like the $140 eBay headlights).
Good job on the blackout. Note: You can remove the high beam bulbs instead of covering them with the tape.
Tranc3 explain more on this how would the halos then react? (When would they be on) I'm planning on doing this to mine soon and can't figure which wires to hook up to

Looks good. I did the same with yellow highbeam reflectors and LED switchback halos that are wired to the side marker lights.

Hey man love the video and the follow up on the wiring too! Quick question, the link your description brings up the Amazon product you installed, on Amazon it says in their description they fit non-protector headlights. However your car has the protectors and they seemed to fit no problem. My car has the xenon lights (I assume that the projectors they are referring too, or maybe xenon’s are different) , do you happen to know if they will work the same on xenon?

Does the plastidip not affect the motors for auto levelling and adaptive bi-xenons? I'd imagine they'd be pretty upset about any dip getting in them

Because of you man i did my halos and blacked out my headlights my inners are sprayed royal blue and outter part are sprayed black and my corner lights are smoked

Firstly the chrome bezel around the headlight bulbs are there to make the lights brighter, So blacking them out will reduce the headlight brightness.
Secondly you are supposed to wire the halo rings to the DME in the engine bay , so that when the ignition is on the halo rings are on. And then connect the trigger wire to the interior lights , so that when your interior lights fade out , the halo rings fade out as well.

daniil, is this reversible? I realize you can peel it, but are there small crevices within the housing that one could NOT access and remove the plastidip? I ask because if I decide to sell my e46 one day, I'd like to be able to fully reverse to stock

Where are you at in WA? I am buying my E46 and wan't to do this. Just get nervous about taking the headlights apart and I have no idea how to tap that wire in etc.
When painting does not affect the intensity of light? Because when painting the mirror around the lamp does not reflect the light.
I think it is better When you connect it like day lights but it looks nice
Whether you own a BMW or not, the fact is if you paint your reflectors it will negatively effect the display of light. The lights that down have lenses and just a bulb and reflectors if you paint the reflectors that light will be very very dim. The lights with lenses will still work just won't have near reflection, only far projection. So in other teams looms great but is it worth the downgrade in visibility.

If I retrofit xenon headlights and wire it up for bi xenon feature, when I flash to pass will it flash with the inner halogen lamp or will the projector lens flicker

I did these to my lights and the high beams are ass, there is no difference between the regular lights and the high beams but they look very nice
A very clean and nice BMW E46 M3. Seeing more and more E46 M3s nice like this makes me want to save up for one.
About to save all money in 2018 from working my jobs and income taxes in 2019. And see where that gets me.
Hoping to find a Laguna Secca Blue M3 or any other nice colorway. Good condition lower miles with maintenance done accordingly.
Might have to travel to go get it across the country or to another state nearby because here in Texas BMW M3 e46 coupes are getting harder and harder to find.
But anyways keep it up with the videos mane and keep the E46 running good please.

That looks pretty slick! The only thing I worry about is light output. That has to have dimmed your night vision a lot. I'd be curious to hear what you had to say about that.

So you said you tapped into your turn signals, so you didn't use the box it came with at all and just wired into both the wires from the turn signals only?

@@metsavend112 You guys are idiots lmao. The low beam xenon projector is also the one for the high beams. Meaning no high beams are coming out of the inner bulb, it practically does nothing.

Could you tell me which wire you tapped into? You said side lights but then also side repeater/indicators? Or is it both?
Yes, side lights which are also the indicators, it’s just one wire going to the bulbs of the indicators

Yes they come on then but are also always on when the headlight switch is twisted to first position! And they are at half brightness in that position, then when I activate the turn signal it becomes full brightness while blinking
