I was working in Manhattan and I had this audio small system that I could use on my ears to hear any song I wanted to.during my travels to work🎀 Anyway this song came out 🌹Downtown train☘️ and it was all over the music airways🌹☘️At this time I want to thank you Rod Stewart for making a song at that time💯 as it helped me to ride the E train to work n see all those Brooklyn girls scattering like crows and that's exactly how I saw it too🎀. Looking at those girls made me want to get to a job and one that I would escalate that much faster☘️. Look at that 😘 you didn't even know it and you were encouraging or influencing me to🥰 better myself through this song 💯🎀🌹☘️ in the end I did succeed and did escalate in my corporation 🌹☘️🌹☘️ music has such immense power 💯🌹🎀
I mean, damn! What a performance. What a voice Rod has! Stage presence should be studied by the young folks out there, for real. What a great upload... Thank you.
That's done out of production necessity in many stage shows, especially where different artists are performing and almost all tv shows.. the band is pretend-playing. Nothing is plugged in .. the reasons are practical and to give the studio and/or tv audience the original recorded sound they here on radio...it's almost impossible to exactly replicate in a live performance ...the recording studios mix all the sounds and vocals to make it all blend perfectly as the artist desires the finished product to be.. When Ed Sullivan introduced the Beatles to the U.S. on his show in 1963, they did the same thing.. nothing was plugged in..they played the recorded track sound in the simultaneous theatre speakers and TV network feed..this was also the case in weekly countdown shows like Solid Gold in the 80's...
A COMPLETE LIP SYNC. THE SONG WE ARE LISTENING IS THE ORIGINAL STUDIO VERSION. ALTOUGH HE IS IN A PRETTY GOOD SHAPE IN HERE, BUT HE IS NOT SINGING HERE. WAKE UP LISTENERS!
This is the studio recording. It's too good to be live. Doesn't matter it's Rod. Love this song only by him. I know Tom Waits wrote it and sang it , but Waits was horrible. Rod has that great raspy voice and he can carry a tune. Waits couldn't.
273 Likes I Love this version cause its well produced and sounds clear at 1250 Watts I also enjoy singing my own version of Downtown at Karaoke Night. This song started his model Train hobby
This is better than Tom Waits. The reason Tom Waits makes records is because his image is from the 1920s. Not to say Tom isn't a great and interesting artist but Rod Stewart is better.

Beautiful song, love Rod amazing voice🎧💚💜💖❤️
Quite simply magnificent😎
What a genius Song😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌
Great performance, one cool fella. My favourite song of all that he sings.
He reminds me of Joe Cocker in some ways.
I saw him perform this tom waits cover on the American music awards what I liked about it is that it included clips of the video.
That is not Rod singing live..it is identical to the single version. I've listen to both line by line and they are exactly the same.
Exactly
This is great! Excellent tune, great execution. Love this version!

Great Rod, great song. However, this is a playback; not live performance.
This is definitely a lip sync
I think it's "band-syncing" with Rod's vocals live...
Thanks for liking, watching and listening to my songs, Thanks for your love ❤️and moral support. I hope you have been well entertained over the years?
Rod is not singing live and I'll fairly sure the band aren't playing either.
Could have sworn that was Barry Manilow!!
Nah Sir Rod is way hotter 🔥
3 guitars on that stage and can't hear any of em in the song. God the 80s were bogus
false advert
Great lip sync
Not really singing
Painfully obvious that he's lip-syncing, mostly because the vocal track they use is the studio recording. There's literally no difference.
He had oral cancer at this time
Thanks for liking, watching and listening to my songs, Thanks for your love ❤️and moral support. I hope you have been well entertained over the years?
Yep. And he never sings songs the exact same.
@@krisq14 I think the cancer came a little later. Late 90s. This has to be early 90s or very late 80s

What a fabulous performance from Rod Stewart ❤
Rod Stewart,Robert Palmer,Mick Jagger,Roger Daltrey ,Robert Plant. Steven Tyler. Always bring that energy to the stage.
Stellar performance! Rod kills it every time. ❤😊
OMG. Don't think I've ever seen him in a suit before. With shoulder pads no less? What a babe. Probably from 1990.

I would love to be the girl on the Fown Train. Maggie x
This has to be from 1989 or 1990.
1990.
我是十分like JACK,只是他已有girl friend 了。
Rod the best of the best.

Bravísimo!! Es el mejor!!
Lo es ❤️❤️❤️
Amor você é incrivelmente sensacional que sintonia nos temos ❤AMC
Not even close to the song performed by Tom Waits.....the composer has a feel for how the song is intended to be.
Tom Waits SOUNDS like he Is STRAINING to take a DUMP ! : D
This is better than Tom Waits. The reason Tom Waits makes records is because his image is from the 1920s. Not to say Tom isn't a great and interesting artist but Rod Stewart is better.
A great song. Writers find it the greatest compliment when other artists cover their songs and make them their own. Barry Gibb has said that himself.
Che interpretazione!
Tom thanks Rod for making him some money. But this version doesn't hold a candle.
Lipsync
Listening to this right now classic
