What an awesome video of The Crawl and Spring Bay..and what a small world. My parents bought a place in Spring Bay in 1970 and I have been going there since I was your kids age.. and we are from Albany (technically Schenectady). My dad thinks he may know your family if there are some Harvey's who are attorneys and friends with the former Mayor Whalen???..Is that your family?
Hi Jon, sorry for the tardy response here...! We are not the Harveys your dad is thinking of.. We moved to Niskayuna (also technically Schenectady, LOL) from Boston in 2004, but we have been enjoying VG since 1989, never grown tired of it, always something new to explore and we can't even being to tell how much we love the people there, but you would know! Wow, since 1970!? Hope your house fared well during Irmaria... For many years we rented from the Laefsky family up on the hill overlooking the school, going towards the Copper Mine. Then we switched to renting from Valerie at Guavaberry/Spring Bay (a little unit called Gardenia if I recall correctly).. is that perhaps where your property is? We've also enjoyed staying at The Fischer Hotel, and these days we rent Mirabella on Windy Hill above Rosy's Market. Looking forward to going back. Cheers!

My family vacationed in VG and stayed at Holly House right near the Mad Dog bar(don’t know if it’s still there) for almost 10 years in a row. Spring Bay, The Crawl, Little Trunk and Big Trunk bay, the copper mine, the baths and devils bay all hold such a special place in my heart! I’m beyond happy to see that it seems to be pretty much the same after all these years. I hope to travel and even retire there one day. Thanks so much for your video and comment!

Mad Dog got destroyed by Irmaria, as did much else, and I don't know whether they have rebuilt - it sure was popular enough to warrant a re-launch! We have been visiting VG and renting various accommodations since 1989, we rented the Laefsky house on Copper Mine Road for a number of visits, then we downsized to a small bungalow at Guavaberry/Spring Bay Estates, we've also enjoyed the Fischer Cove Hotel - which I hope they rebuild. This visit we rented privately a house on Windy Hill above Rosie's Market.. My favorite adventure was to rent a zodiac to bring us over to and drop us off on Fallen Jerusalem for a day of snorkeling, hiking and picnicking.. that was totally unique. Hope you get your wish to retire there!
