Gretchen Menn I guess that every free and spontaneous effort for the sake of "played" Music, and especially in aid of young musicians, is more than just helpful; more like an "essential" musicalship statement..!
It sure helps a lot. Big thanks for this. I don't like to retune my guitar for different songs if it can be avoided. I remember when I was a teen I used a knife for this kind of tricks. It was one piece of metal knife. I used to grab it by blade and use its handle as a slide. Pretty edgy way to play guitar if you ask me.
Hey Gretchen, I just found out a whole bunch of stuff about these guitar parts. Kind of mind-blowing. Let me know if you want to nerd out about this; not sure how to reach you online. You will definitely dig it.
Obviously a very talented guitarist. Not only at playing the instrument but as a teacher and instructor her explanation and method is better than most I've seen over the years. Love watching these videos! Keep up the good work!
Awesome, we're covering that song , your a fine musician, knowing all the note names n stuff , I've been a learner by ear . Stay with it , you also have good stage presence .
I knew you'd be a great teacher. I never saw that technique of holding the pick the way you did. Johnny Winter use to use thumb picks. He was one of the best slide players but I don't think he was as precise in getting the exact notes, but the emotion he poured into it was unreal.
Hola! I have to Say congratulations for being such a good teacher and thanks to you for explaining so well And the guitar tabs really helped me to get this song properly and i AM really stoked. Also it's awesome that you showed us how to play the song in Open tuning and in a standard tuning as well. Because i rather to play the Slide on standard tuning. Thank you so much! Can You make a vídeo of how to play "In My time of dying" on a standard tuning please if You can it would be awesome! Cheers! 🎸🤙✌️🤘🛹🏄
Awesome. I found this after seeing the live video. I don't play LZ (tho I listen) but I do pay attention anytime I see a slide player and I was actually wondering what kind of action you had on the guitar. Answered! You are a great instructor, must have some actual music education or just gifted at explaining lol. Most YT videos you can't pick up anything. I'm doin all open tuning, metal slide, I like that sound better for what I'm playing but I just wanted to say I struggled with trying to learn guitar for years til I finally realized I could play blues with like no effort in open tuning , practically just do it by ear just based on having listened to blues for so long, that was like the reward my brain needed to keep spending time on it or I would have given up again. Anyway. Thanks for the video and I hope you teach another song. I wish you'd play more slide. Like most of a song. Find one 😂 Nice guitar btw! And amen to Beck 🙂 thank you again!!! I start with Elmore James and follow the tree a few steps forward to near modern day and if I can play anything along there well, I'll be happy all night. Good thing about slide, you have some room to play and improvise even as a newbie doing a cover..as long as you know how the blues sounds, you know what will sound right anyplace and that is that......peace!!!💙
Thanks for the lesson I'll tell how much I was influenced by Jimmy Page when my daughter was 12 we sit and watched the song remains the same on one Christmas day then when she had her first child she named him Zeppelin and that's true
Thank you all so much for checking out the video. Really hope it's helpful to some of you!

You are extremely talented and I have appreciated your videos for many years. Thank you!

Jeff Beck’s slide playing on Bon Jovi’s “Blaze of Glory “ is one of the most amazingly awesome slide playing ever !
Really nice Gretchen. Thanks. Just started playing slide after 40 years of playing. Having a ball.
great tip using the tuner for the slide, thanks

Well, I'm smitten. :-) I don't play Zeppelin, but I do slide. You are mesmerizing. Thanks for your insight and knowledge.
GREAT LESSON of a song that a lotta people aren't playing nearly as accurately as you guys do...
You ladies rock HARD
Nice lesson! Thanks.
Thank you!
Menn in the Zen.
Ha!
Thank you
Great idea of training 👍 your ear with the tuner often I can't see the frets when playing
Which tuning is this?
Awesome vid! where can I get the tabs/written music that you show on the video? the video said to check the website but I don't see it.
NICES VIDEO...BONJOUR DE LA FRANCE....................NICES TUTORIEL GUITARE

Merci Gretchen ;)
Gretchen, is there a reason I cant find you ladies doing a cover of Staiway, is it too much of a cliche or is it because of the 12 string parts?
When I play slide it sounds like a cat in heat, any tips on the side to side vibrato
Gonna try this without a slide..
Brass slide = best slide.
🥰
She is the girl!
She reminds me in a lot of ways of Nancy Wilson
I couldn’t resist this joke “finally a girl who plays guitar like a Menn “ lol ! You’re awesome indeed I am a fan from now on .
Thanks for the lesson I'll tell how much I was influenced by Jimmy Page when my daughter was 12 we sit and watched the song remains the same on one Christmas day then when she had her first child she named him Zeppelin and that's true
Thank you! Now... What tuning are you in?
If she hasnt changed it, the first video in the series shows what tuning shes in.....I mean I hope not cuz thats what I'm going off of.....lol
This is all in standard... I'll always make a big deal about anything that isn't in standard. :-)
@@the.gods.of.obliviousity I showed two tunings in the first video -- both standard and the open. I play this in standard. :-)
Wanna learn how to play slide like a pro? I've got 4 words for you: Listen to Bonnie Raitt.
Yes first 👍🏻
hmm yes an advanced human being.
Good lesson but slide detail's made my hands sweaty and gross deep extensive I lesson. She reminds me of Lydia boyd plays segovia hits from 1695
