An author gets approval to make an official canon book, so they make all their original creations completely overpowered, have a contrived plot solely to show off their creation's power, and have all these random unnecessary cameos from established characters.

But I completely agree on the last bit, over the years, they have been either killing or freezing , or whatever the hell bs they could come up with to eliminate the relevance of a mayor alliance character, fking killin varian.... "I was possessed by X evil entity/influence" Is pretty much the standard legal defense in WoW. I think Garrosh Hellscream might be the only evil character who never tried that excuse. Even Sylvanas was like: "Lol, no, I was cut by Frostmourne and my soul was hurt, so I didn't really mean all the bad things I did."
I dont like sylvanas, but as a devils advocate. She wasnt giving the god plot armor till WOD, when she has been around since warcraft 3. Medan on the other hand was made to be a plot armor machine.

To better explain Maruud being Garonas uncle, Maruuds sister was a victim of an attack of a draenei trading caravan by the burning blade clan as ordered by Gul Dan shortly after gaining his warlock powers. In one of the more darker parts of the lore, it's told how Gul'Dan had male orcs rape female draenei in an effort to try and create strong half breeds in a twisted "experiment" by Gul'Dan. Maruuds sister was one of these rape victims and gave birth to Garona. Rape between orcs and Draenei was unheard of until this point as the orcs and draenei were always pretty chill with each other until Gul'Dan.
I mean, Maraad being Garona's uncle was pretty well explained at some point (Early WoD if i recall). It's pretty simple really. Marrad's sister gets kidnapped and r*ped, gives birth to Garona. Boom, Maraad is Uncle. Man, Draeneis had it rough..

It's hilarious cause I've had a character name "Valeria" and people kept mistakeningly prronouncing or typing it as "Valera" without the i whilst the same people did the opposite with Valeera's name. In my mind I kept going "WHAT? HOW?! WHY???".
Wrathion isn’t nearly as op. He still is a pain in the ass and inserts himself far too much. But what we can get from Wrathion that Med’an lacks. Are flaws. Wrathion is: - Arrogant - Manipluative - Vindictive - Prone to Anger - Full of Himself Wrathion breaks a lot of the trust he gains and isn’t afraid to use others to his own gain. He shares the same path as Illidan that the ends justify the means. But when his plans fail to come together, he is quickly angered. He is still a young dragon and his heritage implies much. But he’s not an aspect. He isn’t that powerful.

It's more the problem of the author, I believe the same one who created and wrote the story for Rhonin made Med'an, and Rhonin when examined was almost a Mary Sue, atleast in his time, after that more crazy characters has been made. At first I didn't like him when his story came out, but it warmed to me. Then however it seems the author just went a step up, tried to recreate a Rhonin character but more extreme and it just backfired.

Then when he went to Northrend he hired mercenaries to destroy the boats so his men couldn't leave on official orders. He then lied to his men and blamed the same mercenaries that helped him so his men could kill them. And lastly did not need the wisdom of Muradin Bronzebeard friend about the sword, which almost got the dwarf killed. He had issues.... So what he did when he has the sword just amplifies what he would be doing anyways without it.
Wasn't Med'an declared non canon from the comics? Like, pretty sure ONLY novel and game fiction is officially canon now with the priority being WoW > Novels > Warcraft 3 > Warcraft 2 > Warcraft 1. WoW being most official right next to the novels.

I remember them hinting that Anduin was some champion of the light who eventually will unite Azeroth or some trash like that (from those legion Comics, think it was Son of the Wolf). I have a feeling that even that has been retconned by this point, but who knows.

I've already watched the original video, so the fact that I would rewatch the entire video just to see what Asmongold has to say says a lot about how entertaining he is as a streamer.
Medan could have been really interesting if his bloodline was infused with titan power. After all, Sargeras was in control of Medivh when he concieved his son, and it could have been part of a long game at the time to prep a body that could more readily morph into an avatar of Sargeras. And inheriting some amount of titan power would at least justify why he had so much inherent power since the technically didn't inherit the power of the guardian.
and this is why WOW community does not speak of Medan or Garona and why everybody pretends that it was all just some fanfiction from a teenage roleplayer that has a lot of selfpretiation issues and tries to compensate through comics
they could have make Med'an a girl and immediately playerbase would have loved them. Thats all it takes for the players to love an overly perfect character, just give em boobs. They just dont like Gary Stues, but they will simp for a Mary Sue.

Wasn't Med'an declared non canon from the comics? Like, pretty sure ONLY novel and game fiction is officially canon now with the priority being WoW > Novels > Warcraft 3 > Warcraft 2 > Warcraft 1. WoW being most official right next to the novels.

didn't they sorta replace the chosen one Med'an with Anduin? I remember them hinting that Anduin was some champion of the light who eventually will unite Azeroth or some trash like that (from those legion Comics, think it was Son of the Wolf). I have a feeling that even that has been retconned by this point, but who knows.
A short comic released during Legion revealed that Anduin will be fighting the Old Gods/Shadow things of the universe.

Medan could have been really interesting if his bloodline was infused with titan power. After all, Sargeras was in control of Medivh when he concieved his son, and it could have been part of a long game at the time to prep a body that could more readily morph into an avatar of Sargeras. And inheriting some amount of titan power would at least justify why he had so much inherent power since the technically didn't inherit the power of the guardian.
and this is why WOW community does not speak of Medan or Garona and why everybody pretends that it was all just some fanfiction from a teenage roleplayer that has a lot of selfpretiation issues and tries to compensate through comics
