First of all, let me just say that your "Pepper-ricka" boy took my heart. He knows what he likes and what he knows doesn't he? His camera skills are on point; he knew how to do a close up of that spice bottle and get the camera to focus. 😂 And then the baby...#precious. I'm a single senior and was looking at doing something different for Easter Sunday dinner this year. Although I steer clear of pork as a rule, I just may go for a small ham, pop it in my crockpot and freeze the leftovers. That entire dinner looked delicious and easy to put together, and you did it all on a fantastic budget! Thank you.
That moment was So Sweet....He knows his seasoning!💙
You probably COULD feed a lot of people for $30 several years ago….the grocery prices have went up so much the past couple of years! However, we can still have very nice holiday meals on a budget!! Thank you for sharing these ideas with everyone! Your boys are so cute!
You’re welcome!!
She did spend a little bit more than $30.
Lovely and simple Easter dinner. I learned 50 years ago to warm your milk (I put some in a coffee cup in the microwave) and that way your mashed potatoes stay warmer. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Oh what a great idea Debi!
Great video! Your totally right, your guests won't know or care! They will be happy to share a meal with you!
Deviled egg tip/hack from the person who has to bring them to every family gathering...take a ziplock bag, open it put it in a cup and basically line it and then use a spoon or spatula to fill the bag. Then you can pick up the bag and the filling is at the bottom if the ziplock baggie. You can then squeeze the air out and cut the tip of the corner off and pipe into the egg halves!
I like that ham glaze for the slow cooker.
More importantly that you’re real- yet also toss in the correct Culinary terms for things. And taking basic technique and showing it just as it is. Demystifying it for some and adding knowledge for others.
I enjoy your content.
I love seeing the boys enjoying food and learning while helping👍🏻👍🏻
Later in life that will serve them well.
Thank you Martha!!
For the deviled eggs use a zip lock and cut small hole and then pipe filling into eggs
Sometimes I make sure I have extra potatoes and then I make potato pancakes
The kids love them and they go great with apple Sauce or sour cream
So wonderful to see a young Mom actually cooking homemade food for her beautiful family ♥️
( I’m a southern cook) 🌹
When you said to bless her, made me laugh. Betty started out as a marketing to sell flour. There was a lady that did start giving recipes and advice, ended up growing to the up huge advice of today. It's fun food history. There was never a lady named Betty 🤣
I hit the ham jackpot at Aldi one week. $.59/lb. I got a spiral sliced ham for $4.97...SCORE!! I've been craving a good strawberry shortcake so yummmm
Yay! Perfect!
That looks so yummy !! I can feed an army with ham, scalloped potatoes , corn and rolls !!
Absolutely!
I can’t wait to do a ham in the crockpot! Do you ever put dill pickles in your eggs? Super good!
I'm with Julian on the devilled eggs!! 😊 Funny story - I went to a party once and someone made devilled eggs but used cinnamon instead of paprika!! Aaaaccck!! 😮 They were terrible! 😅
😂😂 you made me lol
Ewwww lol
That is just plain wrong. 🤢
Your boys are cute.
Dinner looked good. The strawberry shortcake amazing
All the food looks great, but the boys stole the show. Paprika!! And Ben watching the bunny, omg. That shortcake and the look of delight eating it.
Love it. Blessings to you and your family
Love Betty and your video is great. The food looks so good. The best part is Benny with the Bunny!
Too funny right?!
I prefer angel food cake for strawberry short cake, it soaks up all that strawberry juice and its awsome 😊
Love your channel ❤
It’s hard to believe that Easter is almost here. I bought the candy already but haven’t given any thought to the dinner menu. Thanks for thinking ahead to help us plan and save.
You’re welcome! It definitely snuck up on us!!!
Did you ever use orange juice in a ham? So good, think it takes some of the salt out. Everyone always asks what I do.
I think I have but now I can’t remember!
I use pineapple juice. I think it does the same thing as orange juice. I think the sweetness helps with the saltiness.
I use coke a cola
I always use orange juice when I make a glaze and I add some orange marmalade to it.
That was a very realistic and simple yet delicious looking meal:) love it !
😀 so glad!
Well done!!! What a super tasty dinner
All of these recipes look so delicious!😊 I may use some of these for my Easter dinner. I am in awe of how well you budget your food bill and still manage to have such nutritious meals!
😀😀 so glad you like them!
❤ I laughed when you were talking about the deviled eggs not being pretty...do they ever last long enough for anyone to notice? Yes, ham in the slow cooker. I threw a spiral ham in my slow cooker once for a work potluck and people were asking me for the recipe...uh, open the package?
😂😂 don’t you love it when that happens! And so true about the eggs!
I was just watching your video from last year! ✌️
Perfect!!
Great meal. I am going to roast carrots next week yum
Looks delicious!
That looked so good! And Ben and that bunny! 😍💕
We almost always use paper plates for dessert! Thanks for the video, it all looks yummy!
Something about dessert right 🤷♀️😀
Looks absolutely delicious. Your baby and the bunny are precious - save that video to show years from now. So cute!
@MWM Big smile here when you giggled a little bit when ya mentioned including alcohol for your budget holiday meal….🙋🏻♀️
Thank you soooooo much for doing another holiday meal!! You're the best!
Of course! So glad it makes you happy!!
I can't stand watching that piece of wrapper on the butter corner drop into the Kitchen-aid @ 7:10...
Your food looks delicious. 😋
Fabulous meal😊
You could cook anything and make it look delicious!
Aw thanks Peggy!
Smoked paprika on popcorn is awesome.
Everything looks delicious! I'll definitely be trying the ham, rolls, and shortcake
Yay! So good!
You can macerate your fruit with a splash of lemon juice if you want to have less sugar.
Having volunteered at a food charity I can say that one of the main things offered by supermarkets is fruit and vegetables looking a bit limp......They only have a short shelf life unlike packaged goods like cookies so they donate them to charities. Statistics also show that when times are financially difficult people will eat much more take-out.......I know some parents have little time to cook but if you do then use the charity vegetables and fruit is soups, casseroles and cobblers and then you will have enough money for protein like meat or eggs.
Nice job on a budget holiday meal! Looks fantastic. You know how some words are just fun to say? ( ie curmudgeon, conundrum) I think Paprika is one of those words😁
💯💯💯
That cake looks delicious- it all needs looks amazing!
😀😀
Very nice Easter dinner, thanks ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everything looks delicious!
I saw a sign at my local Kroger that said due to weather affecting growing conditions that there is a shortage of strawberries.
Ohh might be why they are expensive!
I've read that too. Also there's going to be a shortage on salmon due to the drought on the West Coast and government restrictions of fishhing because the population hasn't had time to replenish itself yet despite the flooding and snow melt. Unrelated to the topic I know, but Costco is selling frozen salmon right now for a reasonable price. It might be prudent to stock up if salmon is regularly on your meal plan.
@@YT4Me57 Excellent idea. I buy the fresh salmon at costco and vacuum seal it in smaller portions. I haven't checked the price in awhile so might look at the frozen salmon.
I buy butter in bulk at Sam's Club or Costco. It is definitely the lowest per pound cost. They both sell it in 4 - 1 pound packages. In my area (Midwest U.S.), it is just under $12, so $3/lb. I haven't seen loss leader prices for under $3/lb. in quite a long time. Eggs have really come down. They are currently at $1.99/dozen or a bit less in my area.
My mom always served an angel food cake, "frosted" with whipped cream and then she dyed coconut green and made some nests filled with jelly beans on top. She had strawberries on the side. Angel food cake is usually pretty reasonable to purchase at the grocery store bakery.
Everything you made looks delicious! Very similar to our Easter dinner. However, my mom always made scalloped potatoes and then green beans instead of carrots.
All sounds delicious! I love the cake idea!
Thanks for sharing Maria,This entire meal looks Absolutely DE-LI-CIOUS!! 😋 Benny was Simply Adorable playing with the bunny!! 🐰
I'm definitely going to try that ham recipe! Everything looked wonderful!
First budget video I found where the local grocery store is Hannafords. I live 2 minutes away from one and they might not be as inexpensive as an Aldi or Shaw you can still save so much with Hannaford rewards points and free coupons they send.
This meal looks good
I love it when your kids get involved I can hear him talking it is so homie
I really enjoyed watching you prepare this lovely dinner. Thanks for all the ideas & tips. I love cooking & especially like watching cooks in the United States - you have many products there that we don't have here unfortunately. Best wishes from Sydney Australia
would love it to see a new video full packed with meals for 2$ a Serving
Sounds like a plan!!
Love your videos. Thank you!
Everything looks great and you’ve inspired me with ideas for my table in a budget
I can't digest pork anymore so I'm doing roasted chicken this year. It's not quite the same but I won't get sick😊.
We always have ham for Easter. And my mom always makes Harvard beets. So delicious
I LOVED THIS VIDEO ❤️
Loved this video. We usually do a BBQ for Easter but for the first time ever I want to do a traditional ham or roast dinner. You have inspired me so much. Thank you for being so relatable. I appreciate you so much🎉🎉💐💐
I think so too Julian ❤
😀
We made a tres leches cake from a yellow box cake mix and omg it was everyones absolute favorite and very budget friendly.
Everything looked amazing! Could even use frozen strawberries from dt and just cook up into a sauce and cool whip instead of whipping cream for a more budget recipe.
Such a great idea!!! Thank you for sharing!!
My Mother used to make those eggs. They are wonderful! Thank you for the video!
I’ve never steamed eggs for hard boiled eggs. I need to try that. Everything looked delicious!
Calories don't count unless the bite was placed on a plate. Nice spread!
Every thing looked great thank you!
Very good ❤
New subscriber, but I have been watching you for a while now. I have made some of your recipes and they have all been winners. Big fan here.
Yay! So glad they worked out!!
We don't do an Easter Dinner...didn't when I was growing up. Our thing was the sunrise service at church...come home for breakfast...and back to church for the 11 am service. No easter basket as a child...because easter was about Jesus...still is in my home. And that's that! But all you who celebrate Easter, with candy, bunnies and dinner...have a lovely day. 😊
We did baskets. But no bunny. And we never got baskets until after church. Have a great holiday.
GREAT JOB 👏
Wow everything looks very delicious!!!! Thank you!👍👍👍👍🐰
You’re welcome!
Great ideas ❤ Thank you for these ideas!
You’re welcome!
Yummo!
"Is she still around?" Fun fact, there is no Betty. She was a customer service tool! In 1921 a flour company had a contest to send in recipes and along with the recipes people sent in baking questions and "Betty" wrote them back 😊
My Mom used to olives on deviled eggs.
Oh yah that’s pretty!
Sadly the ham would be around $30 alone where I am. If I’m lucky they’ll go on sale for about $2.50lb.
I never thought that paprika has much of a flavor at all and is more for color
Looking yummy food
I never seem to make enough deviled eggs. They are the first thing to go.
I agree!!
cool
The ham looked amazingly moist in the crock pot. While I like glazes, my problem is I want HAM gravy on my mashed potatoes and I feel like it is a sheer waste not to have it the few times a year I have ham. I also like the ham getting some blackened crisp edges.... Maybe I can figure out a compromise to accomplish all of that while using the crock pot for it...
I have used the classic Betty Crocker deviled egg recipe my entire adult life and the dry mustard is the way to go. I've seen others do pickle relish, yellow liquid mustard, etc. or like the hot sauce or salsa version and while I have had all of those when other people have made them and I don't mind them, the classic Betty is the one I stay with and I don't stray from it. With most things I add, enhance, tweak, but not that recipe. I stay true to it as it is THE deviled egg.
I have really been enjoying your channel! I was not able to find the recipe for your lentils, however. (You posted a ‘short’ featuring them.) Is this recipe available elsewhere?

@@MealsWithMaria Thank you so much! I’ll go watch the video right now.❤️
I wonder how much it would have cost you, had you had to buy everything.
My youngest feels passionate about her paprika on her deviled eggs... but she insists on calling them the mean scrambled eggs with sprinkles...😂 ps she is 9! Lol u will not correct her anymore... #letthemstayyoungaslongaspossible
Nope! The joke is: A woman cut the ENDS off her ham and placed them on top to bake because that is how her mom baked the ham.
Finally, one time, she asked her mom about it. Mom said she didn't know, but that was the way Grandma had always baked the ham, cut off the ends and put them on top to bake.Going to Grandma and asking about baking the ham with the ends cut off and placed on top to bake, Grandma laughed and explained, she baked the ham that way because she had to cut the ends to get it to fit in the pan.😅😂
Oh yes! Much better telling of it!!

$3 eggs. I'm so jealous. Mine are $4.79
If you didn't know Betty Crocker isn’t actually a real person. She is the brainchild of an advertising campaign developed by the Washburn-Crosby Company, a flour milling company started in the late 1800’s that eventually became General Mills.
Oh that makes more sense 😂😂 I wasn’t sure but didn’t look it up!
But Duncan Hines was a real person! You just never know in this crazy world!
I am sure that if there wasn't someone by that name, the persona was based upon someone's mom or grandma. 😂
The original Betty Crocker lived one block down from Our home cool house then but person living there now does not take care of it SAD
That ham costs over $30 in Canada
Don't feel bad that Betty Crocker is no longer with us, she was never a real person. 😂
I giggled because I looked Betty up recently- Betty never was. A marketing scheme. I was a bit put off.
We cook ham in coca cola. Mummy...
Just wondering. Do you thicken the Coca-Cola or add things and serve it as a sauce? Sounds great.
@@Back-handedLuck-ul7ms No, but we have used the cooking liquid to make soup with. Best to use half cooking liquid and half water as the cooking liquid is quite sweet from the coke. I put some lentils in and some veg to make the soup.
Yumm!
I use root beer! Love the flavor!
Thanks. I will try that. Also, thanks for such a quick answer. I have a ham in the fridge I've been staring at for two days now. Again, I appreciate.
Ok wow…you have not followed really any of the directions for the baking…..craziness
❤ I think your child might be some sort of high intelligence person . Thank you for the video and happy Easter .
