You look absolutely beautiful in this dress and in all the 1940's and 1950's styles you wear!! I hope through your influence more women of all races start wearing these beautiful fashions!
Oh, Serena, I am absolutely starting to "hero worship", you. I fantasize that I had been raised maybe with a seamstress grandmother who taught me everything that you can do! You are so talented and amazing!!!😊🥰
As is everything you've made, it's beautiful and elegant. I've always loved this Era of fashion but you make it cool to wear again. Thank you for expressing your time line in making the dress. It's nice knowing you don't have to finish in one day.
Both the pattern and the color seem to have been created especially for you, because it is glorious on you! ❇💚❇The dreamy color puts me in mind of some cool, comforting, yummy summertime delights, such as key lime pie, or ice cream that is flavored with pistachio or jasmine matcha tea! 😋
I am mesmerized watching you sew. It honestly slows down my heart rate. So calming to watch. I don't sew. I wish I did. The sewing terminology goes right over my head but I don't care! Keep videos coming!
I used to love to sew, hands too old now. That dress was gorgeous and looked beautiful on you, even if YOU say not a good hair day. Thanks for sharing.
I haven't sewn in ages (since having my 3 kids) and I miss it. I bought a few of the patterns you use so I can follow along in the future. But I do love just listening to your videos (I don't watch them--- I listen while cleaning) and hoping your descriptions will seep into my mind when I'm ready to start again. I can picture what you're doing in the video. I love your vintage style and your video style.
I'm so glad to have found your channel... I collect 1950's vintage, and love to dress vintage, but unfortunately, I have no idea how to make clothes! When I see someone who can, I am extremely impressed! You look amazing and so talented too!
You are such a joy to watch! Thank you! My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 12 and I never stopped! It's so rewarding. I don't make many clothes anymore, I make quilts and things now but my love of sewing is still there! ❤
Love, Love, Love! You are so talented and your body is perfect for all of your fashion choices. I personally love vintage everything; unfortunately I'm plus size, so I don't come across many dresses, but I make-up for it with jewelry, shoes, handbags and other accessories. Blessings 🙏
You bring the brightest light with you wherever you go. Thank you for sharing your sewing prowess with us. I used to make most of my own clothes. Then USA fabric Mills started closing and fabric prices skyrocketed and quality plummeted. I wish I lived closer to NYC where some fabric warehouses still are located.
Stunning! Fits you so well. Really admire you using scrap/what’s at hand. I have postponed so much waiting until it can be “perfect”. Your results are 😘👏
Your dresses and other fashion creations are so stunning! Each time you model something new for us, I think, "Well, this is it, it's the most beautiful, she can't possibly top this." And, invariably, a few days later, you show up in another gorgeous, over the top creation that you "just ran up" that is runway ready! This sheath is marvelous; I especially love the bow detail at the bust, the neckline and the color! As usual, you have outdone yourself. Then, pairing the dress with the gloves for the reveal - well, it's just so classy and sophisticated (just like you)! Did you ever see the movie, "Funny Face" with Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire? I think you could so easily replace Audrey in all the photography sessions in Paris, modeling all your own fashions. You have the style, the poise and your clothes are all from the same era as the film, an easy swap! You and your fashions would become super stars! Of course, you already are a star, to me and to your other ardent fans! 🌟🩷😊
Your videos are fascinating! I grew up watching my sisters sew their clothes in the 60s, so these retro patterns are amazing! I have always wondered why more people don't bring these classy styles back today!! Thank you!
Hi, SewRena. Where do you find lace seam tape? JoAnn doesn’t seem to carry it anymore. I have found some occasionally on eBay. For some projects, lace hem tape is important Not sure if JoAnn carries the non-lace seam or hem tape. I used both tapes a lot back in the day, forever having to shorten and hem store bought clothes. I am five foot one and a half. P.S. You look wonderful in that dress. I think the white gloves and white shoes are a good finishing touch.
I’ve been wondering when you were going to post again - I was sure you were busy with something fabulous and I was right! This came out beautifully and you look great in it. A+
Your bring back memories of how I used to sew a lot of my clothes . since I stared quilting I haven't sewn anything to wear I think I'm going to be looking for patterns for me
I haven’t yet made it to the end but I noticed the baby nail clippers off top the side. Do they serve a specific sewing purpose? Now I’m at the end. I love the color and the fit of your dress. I didn’t follow any of your steps but I hope to make it through garments as smoothly someday. I have been making tiny vintage garments for my dolls and am getting better all the time. Unfortunately most of the vintage patterns don’t come in my size. I haven’t yet learned pattern drafting or how to adjust for my own variations. Do you have any pointers for anyone who is not straight sized for patterns who want to sew vintage garments?
I am not a fabric artist but I have heard others mention getting sheets from the thrift store for large pieces of cotton. Maybe that would work to get cheap fabric for lining? Anyway, love the channel ❤❤❤❤
I just made a dress bag-lined with cotton sateen. That type of fabric felt like absolute luxury when I wore it. It might not be worth the extra cost to put it in every garment, but at least in the formal ones, I think it's worth it.
Something I really like is felled seams either by hand or flat felled seams with machine. I have also used bias binding finish on long seams of heavy wool for skirts and that works really well to stop fraying.
You look absolutely beautiful in this dress and in all the 1940's and 1950's styles you wear!! I hope through your influence more women of all races start wearing these beautiful fashions!
So attractive and feminine ❤
That dress and the color are perfect for you!!! Positively stunning!
Amazes me how many sewers say that they’re impatient when it’s a craft requiring patience 😂 y’all are funny
Hahaha it’s like when we learn the patience for one thing the impatience transfers to another 😂
@@SewRena could you also do early 1960s sheath dresses too? No one has made that yet.
Different experience for everyone.
This is so pretty, it looks beautiful on you. I love 1940s and 50s styles
Oh, Serena, I am absolutely starting to "hero worship", you. I fantasize that I had been raised maybe with a seamstress grandmother who taught me everything that you can do! You are so talented and amazing!!!😊🥰
Thank you for the nugget about interfacing in relation to the seam allowance! ❤
Wow! Stunning pattern, looks fabulous on you!
OH my gosh, GGGIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! I absolutely LOVE this!!! Superb job well done!!
Beautifully done! Looks fabulous! Well done.

Serena, you never disappoint.. beautiful from head to toes again! 🎉❤
Your sewing skills impress me. Nicely done, Serena. You look lovely.
This Gorgeous dress is so DORIS DAY❤❤❤
The interlining is a new skill for me. I'll have to use that idea. What a classy looking dress. Very pretty on you.
Of course Mrs SewRena you know I love your style you look 👀 perfect I love the color your hair looks great
I used to love to sew, hands too old now. That dress was gorgeous and looked beautiful on you, even if YOU say not a good hair day. Thanks for sharing.
Perfect dress, fabulous color. So much skill❤
Oh that's a really cute style! I love the way the bolero floats a little on the front, it subtly flirts with retrofuturist.

I love it. Fantastic. You made all the right decisions.
This is so pretty, and beautiful on you! I love this time period. Thank you for sharing it
Stunning! I was not fond of the fabric until you put it on.
I’m love this color on you! The bow in the back!!! Perfect!!
Gorgeous love the colour ❤ and the lining is gorgeous too!
Looks gorgeous!! Color is great on you and I love that you add pearls and gloves!
I really like your videos, thanks for sharing your projects with us!
5-30-24 I challenge you to make a dress using a pattern from the early 1900’s
Very cute. I don't think I've ever done a liner like that, but it would be a nice stabilizer and also be pretty, too. Thanks for sharing this.
I'm a lover of 1930's fashion. Have you tried that elegant era yet?
BEAUTIFUL #NOT A DAY WITHOUT JESUS 🙏
I LOVE it! What a neat design, and this beautiful green is so perfect for spring 🌷💕
This is such a summer dress. Just gorgeous.
Love the color, fit, and final fashion show, well done!
Oh Sewrena i love this. I think you find the best best patterns and fabric.
The dress turned out beautiful. I love that style on you.

I’ve missed you. Excellent work. The dress turned out beautiful and looks great on you. You made good choices. Keep up the good work.
Wow!! It looks elegant! I love the french seem because it gives a beautiful finish to the piece.

I didn't really like the color but it's STUNNING It is really a gorgeous color. Cß

Phenomenal Sewrena sewing is your super power, love, love, love the dress congratulations you look like a dream 👗 🧵🪡😊❤
Always so stylish and elegant! I love this dress!
I like you love all things 50's. I was born in 1949 so I grew up with all these styles. My mother sewed beautifully.
About that "up doo". Just pull your hair up in the back to the crown and clip. No "styling" needed. Done in a flash.
Cheap 100% cotton sheets work well for muslins and interlining for me.

Wow, that is very very cute. Well done. Always amazed at how you seem to effortlessly put things together. You should be really pleased with that.
I appreciated the reminder not to apply interfacing all the way to the curved edge. Nothing beats experience 😎

Gorgeous color! You look radiant and the construction is amazing. So elegant! 💜
Should press before sewing any topstitching to make the edges as even as possible. Very pretty style❤

What a lovely outfit and suits you so well,I have some original dress patterns similar, and now I feel I can tackle one!
Something I really like is felled seams either by hand or flat felled seams with machine. I have also used bias binding finish on long seams of heavy wool for skirts and that works really well to stop fraying.
Love seeing your vintage clothing. Beautiful sewing.
Your dress is gorgeous and you are just beautiful! Thanks for sharing your talents.
