That's cool for his debut but if he wants to keep such a muse he needs to balance it by reevaluating his lyrics on some songs. For example, He can freestyle on his singles/radio songs but on his album he should take time to discuss topics. I do like his flow but the meaning is weak.
Zach Williston He's showing people how easy it is to make horrible rap music that idiots will still enjoy. Basically making fun of an entire race right in front of them and they're paying him for it. I think it's pretty funny.
Years from now this will be thought of as one of the dopest songs ever. It's gonna be slept on for now, but its awesomeness will be appreciated over time
Childish is hands down one of the best Artists out right now. Throw in Harry Fraud to produce the track and you have gold. Riff Raffs round about rhymes even worked for me on this one. It didn't feel like a song that was planned. It was as if everyone involved were running on instinct and emotions. This track was very refreshing and carefree. I play this song on my way to work now and it gets me through the day
Lava Glaciers is such a fitting name for this track just based on how both of them deliver and what they rap about. Riff comes in with hot bars and a hot flow (honestly the best I've probably heard from him). Then Gambino pulls it way in and cools it way down. Ice cold and solid like a glacier, but not dead. Then there's also Riff's spitting of utter nonsense and Gambino getting really deep with it. Great track.
Gambino killed this track! And Riff Raff, he really surprised me on this joint. Usually I don't fuck with his shit, but when I saw that he had Gambino on it, I just had to check it out. The Instrumental is just so melodic, and silky smooth. Props to both of you.
Some people take lyrics too seriously, Riff-Raff is not someone you can listen to in a dark room and relate to his music, his music is fun and its fun to listen to. Not every rapper is going to be like Kendrick Lamar. People take Jody too seriously. Shut up and enjoy the music. Spending too much picking it at it and pointing out pointless shit than listening and enjoying the music.
It's more humorous than it's muse. More often people will seek this humor and enjoy it but a true artist will make the time to express themselves in coherent and surreal ways. Noticing this pointless shit reveals hasteful and shitty production, and in turn reduces my enjoyment. Check out Death Grips www.thirdworlds.net/index.php
ReptillianHighPriest That's all opinion that isn't justified you fucking priest. I stated my reasons as to why Riff Raff is slowly losing respect just as cheif keef and lil b for trying to make catchy "fun" pop. Hipster isn't an insult and how does it apply to Death Grips. People make memes out of anything but the band doesn't explicitly make them it's just their lyrics are esoteric to the max
ReptillianHighPriest Since they're disbanding this year I want people to learn of their discography now rather than in 10 or 15 years. I feel that'll create a muse revolution in the industry.
The world would be infinitely more boring if artists only wrote lyrics about "things that mattered"....just saying. I dig this song immensely, lyrics and everything else. Thanks for being awesome, Riff!
SupahKamiGuru Lava Glaciers is my favorite track on the disc. Thank goodness he isn't rapping about problems. We all have enough of that in our lives. His light and fun lyrics take me away from the problems for a while. I LOVE THIS SONG !!
This is a masterpiece man! Fuck lyrics (even if gabino's verse was sick), this song lets you enter a different dimension, the beat, their flow, that backround singer and these weird jungle noises god damn I love it! One of my all time favorites! The vibe I get with this song is out of this world
So, uh, did anyone else come here because they love both of these rappers and didn't exclusively feel like one was better than the other in this song because they're both so talented? No? I'll eat my ramen quietly in the corner then.
I really can't lie... Riff really has one of the best deliveries. His flow switch up and the funny words he rhymes so easily, only if it wasn't corny. Still fun as fuck though
That's funny i actually thought gambino was the corny one. Trying his darndest to sound intellectual by cramming a bunch of transhumanist buzzwords in his verse. Sounds like he's high off a Ray Kurzweil lecture. I think Riff Raff is not taking himself too seriously , in a genre that isnt necessarily known for it's philosophical depth. Riff Raff seems at place for club music. Riff is "post-rap". He's a parody of the wanna be gangsta hard ass thug rapper archetype. I think it's genius.
Julian Garlington Sonic (blue) vs. Knuckles (red) = red + blue makes purple. Mailbox cup = mailbox sized cup. In other words, big ass cup of purple. Mailbox might also be another play on red mixed with blue.
I need to see a fully produced live action video for this. This song shows Riff Rapp can actually rap. You see a lot of his more mainstream stuff with nothing particularly innovative, but here his raps are so esoteric you can barely follow some of it without context, but seeing the lyrics onscreen here, it's hidden genius. Sometimes his stuff is SO esoteric that it sounds like gibberish (thus the haters), but it's actually just too deep for y'all.
I feel like you are trying to make meaning out of his random rhyme scene, show me another newer sing by Riff Raff that he raps as well as he does in this one. Then I'm sold.
Talik Singletary I was trying to look at some of his other songs this is the only one that really caught my eye I mean if you found another one that sounds like this then tell me
+hal900x I am not a hip hop follower, or at least I wasn't until now. I really like this Neon Icon album. It is the first hip hop album I have purchased since Too Short or something lol. I have been looking for the meaning behind Sonic the Hedgehog cup versus knuckles in my mailbox cup. First of all, just try to keep up with this song READING the lyrics, let alone invent them and come up with the beat behind this whole thing. It is a flawless, brilliant set of versus from both artists. It's a really impressive song through and through. If I can't even keep up reading the lyrics, it is, in my opinion, pretty good. Secondly, there IS a thin line of context that runs through this whole album, so none of it, that I can see at least, is gibberish. It is a wonderful piece of work by a guy that will likely have trouble ever recreating anything even close to this. It is too bad he didn't get a lot of cash for this. I have listened to some of his latest stuff and it's not good, at least it is just like the rest of the industry's sounds and lyrics. Bitches, money, weed, jewels, blah, blah, blah. That stuff is boring, thick tongued garbage. But this, THIS, is really solid art. Thirdly, I hope this guy backs off the juice. His face is so moon faced now, from mostly likely taking a new, and very powerful steroid that I have personally seen put 30-40 pounds of gains on a guy at the gym in only 4 WEEKS! RIff Raff was saying he met Hulk Hogan and whatever that was. He probably got some advice on how to swell up fast, thinking he could get into the WWE, which would have been a pretty good move for him since his candle is almost out already. Lastly, I hope this guy can save back a little of whatever cash he might be taking in now, but I doubt it. He probably already spent everything. He isn't likely to hit the heights 50 Cent did, but he will still likely end up where 50 has ended up, broke, and having to admit in court that he rented the cars, houses, jewels, and all the rest. I think this does a huge disservice to the industry, and tricks naive kids into believing these guys are actually making this kind of NFL player like money, when they are just as broke as the rest of us. If anyone has input into the meaning of the verse about Sonic, please speak it. Chad
bad ass riff really liked this one man! thanks for just being you! you are one unique crazy fun white boy! ha ha keep rippin up the creative spectrum!!!!!!!!
Some kid played this it work and it really weirded me out to hear the Nektar sample from "It's all in the mind". Looks like Riff Raff is a secret prog rock fan.
I'll be honest, I don't really like riff raff that much and really only came for gambino but riff raff actually did really well in the is song same as bino
The song is good stop debating who is better they both enjoyed making the song together. Enjoy what's here. This song helped me and now when i hear it I get happy sad then relieved. Just remember they worked together to make this. Enjoy it.
I miss Childish The "Black Nerd"... Hes definitely in that category of artists that I will always listen to but I definitely miss the old days... "Camp" was a masterpiece.... Hes into this introspective artsy sound right now that's cool, but its just not what I got into him for...
***** really?? culdesac was horrible. his flow is just too goofy. camp and EP are better but Royalty and BTI he seems to take it more serious and that makes him more respectable IMO.
***** You're absolutely right. Glover is so talented it killed my burgeoning rap career. Feel free to rove on over to my channel and hear my freestyle epitaph "Glover: Y U So". Rate and subscribe and, while you're there, lick me.
I feel like Riff just looked around the room he was in and just described what he saw to the beat... and then added some random thoughts in there as fillers. But then again it is Riff, what else should I expect? His voice sounds cool tho so. Gambino killed this though as usual. It should've just been a Bino song. He should take this and make his own version with just him on it.
It reminds me of the Shatner version of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"..... I think that the point is that he can make a list of objects into a rap song- it doesn't matter what he says but how it sounds.... Gambino is just rapping some nonsense too though- then he seems to be taking himself pretty seriously so... to each their own I guess.
As Riff once said in an interview, he freestyles, he's never written anything. He just does what comes to his mind. Thats it.
That's cool for his debut but if he wants to keep such a muse he needs to balance it by reevaluating his lyrics on some songs. For example, He can freestyle on his singles/radio songs but on his album he should take time to discuss topics. I do like his flow but the meaning is weak.
Acekilla Wait, do people actually take this shit seriously? It's joke music bruh, satire, not serious.
***** noice pic. Tropical Storm is chill thanks for the suggestion.
Mrfizzlewizzletastic satire is meant to have meaning...the point of it is to show how comical a view is.
Zach Williston He's showing people how easy it is to make horrible rap music that idiots will still enjoy. Basically making fun of an entire race right in front of them and they're paying him for it. I think it's pretty funny.
the most unlikely collab, gambino and riff raff. pure magic, the harry fraud beat is on point!
It's funny how Riff's verse is free-associated words and Gambino's is a philosophical treatise on our existence.
it's not funny
Well..the song IS called Lava Glaciers
A little bit of contrast
i gave you your first 100 likes after a decade 😢
I came to this track for Gambino, but Riff went so hard I actually became a fan after this song.
Years from now this will be thought of as one of the dopest songs ever. It's gonna be slept on for now, but its awesomeness will be appreciated over time
Nah lol
You were right
just came back to it. my god, it's glorious

Gambino spit some real shit (y), and Raff got his own style, real rappers and musicians know its no rules to music
Gambino murdered that. That was beautiful.
Wtf guys i find both verse really good, they fit with the flow so well.
Lava Glaciers is such a fitting name for this track just based on how both of them deliver and what they rap about. You either love or hate Riff Raff, no in between
While I am all about lyrics, I can appreciate nonsensical lyrics if the delivery is great. Riff Raff just happens to sound great.
And then one day, you figure it out, and love him.
I think he's just ok.👌 just kidding he's fuckin hilarious

Yea the beat is dope and I really like the hook. Yea Riff Raff shocked me on this track and Gambino just put some fire on this track.
Word man. Gambino was a perfect for this track.

How would that make it more boring???
***** Everything would be just serious all the time. Music can be about anything or nothing at all.
If he wanted to rap about nothing he should of chose a different beat because honestly his style didn't fit this chill monotonous beat at all.
SupahKamiGuru Lava Glaciers is my favorite track on the disc. Thank goodness he isn't rapping about problems. We all have enough of that in our lives. His light and fun lyrics take me away from the problems for a while. I LOVE THIS SONG !!

This instrumental. Is so perfect.
Why isn't this RiFF RAFFs most viewed video? This is better than most of his other songs
+vanMrMann more like his video "Time".
+vanMrMann wtf? have you herd riff raff?
+demonioblanco772 have you
Why am I just hearing this now?
Also, how hard is Bino channeling 3 stacks here?
RiFF RaFF is literally the best rapper of our generation. Very influential and musically inclined. 11/10 would let rap at a funeral.
finally someone understands me
Hey, man, I'm sorry you can't process the lyrical ingenuity that is what we have come to call Riff Raff.
I agree

That whats up,music is supposed to do that, music always me get my mind right
themondoshow I'm hoping to feel like that a year from now
Song makes my mind go round on a roundabout.
Worst thing about Riff Raff is that he completely overshadows whoever he collaborates with
Wtf are you talking about gambino is much better
+Kieran Cusack yeah literally he's just louder
6 years and its still just as good, what a track
I love the whole album, still bump it on the regular
