You can get thicker layers of underseal on if you get a tin and brush it on. To make it less messy its a good idea to leave the lid off a tin of underseal for a few days. That way it goes thick and stoggy so that its easy to 'clag' it on and control it with less mess while building up thick layers.
I did mine with waxoil , I bought the 5 litre can and warmed it up lid off on the kitchen gas stove to melt it into a liquid, I then used a chepo Draper electric spray gun , drove the car onto a plastic sheet, jacked the car up and put the car on car ramps, filled the sprayer two 3rds full with waxoil and added white spirit to fill , you have to keep these Draper spray guns upright as they dont have a seal on the container lid so you slide the gun over the plastic sheet and bend the extended nozzle supplied with the gun 90 degrees to point up at the car, no need to take the wheels off working under the car just put some plastic around the back of the brake discs and dont spray rubber shock absorber bushes exhaust rubbers will be ok, spray the car along the sills and especially along the boot sill at the back of the car then spray the rest of the floor area and wheel arches , once your done with the extended spray nozel cut the tube behind the spray nozel and put a 1 meter length piece of plastic tube on the end and secure with wire wrapped around it then put a flattened nail in the end of the plastic tube and spray into all the cavities along the chassis rails and inside the sills whilst withdrawing the plastic tube, the whole process takes about an hour really easy to do and it will last about 10 years. my last car was 24 years old before I got a new one and it died of engine failure, she had over 500k on the clock and yes it was a diesel. changed the engine oil every 5 k. Ive just bought a 3 year old auto with an 8 speed Torque converter box , next spring im going to the do the same again, even if it does have a 12 year corrosion warranty. this will be my last ICE car before the ban on sales in 2030 "Bloody government" so have to look after her.
This is what owning a car is all about baby!! Relieved to find a video channel delivered by someone who is actually funny, entertaining, and gets the job done!!
I use clear dinitrol underbody wax these days, bit more expensive but I like how you can see through it so you know if anythings rusting underneath when you use black you can't really tell until youve got a hole lol, looks clean under there for the age of the car though!
I undersealed my 7th gen 2004 Celica and was not too bad. Granted I did not spray mine with 5 bottles or wheel wells. Seems like you had it bad especially with the rain, I did mine in Summer. Surface rust is fine as long as you get the big bits off. Wear gloves, goggles in future Lee and at least a small mask if poss.
Undersealed EP3 rear wheel arches yesterday, used Tetra Shultz, brushed it on which is easier as no masking off, luckily it didn't rain here in Lincolnshire.
I think rust inhibitor/converter instead of degreaser would of been a better idea. Good effort though. I have done this myself and know lying on the ground for that long is horrible.
I’ve used white spirit to clean it cause it takes just 10 min to evaporated and dry out, and then used the Hammerite Hammerite Under Body Seal Brush on, and brushed it in properly, did one layer, didn’t even need to wait to dry, and after that used the spray, the one you using. This was 5 years ago and my E46 still looks good underneath, but of course when my local garage changed my rear shocks had to wipe it off in some areas to be able to do their jobs, but I sprayed back on when I got the chance
Good video, really enjoyed seeing the hard work you put & the outcome looks good. I did this to my EVO & used Bilt Hamber Dynax UB wax. It is a tough job for sure, I was up on ramps at front & just up on bricks at rear so not much room. Bit claustrophobic the further to the back I went & getting stuck under exhaust lol
Hiya mate, just a quick question if I may. I'm just getting ready to use bilt hamber dynax UB as well on my FK8 and I'm just curious, does it attract dirt/dust/rocks and cause everything from the road to stick to it? That's my biggest worry!
@@jonathan___4684 hi, I didn't find it to be too sticky. It just stays very slightly tacky to touch, but not enough to have things stick to it. It's designed not to go completely hard, so therefore shouldn't crack or chip. I prepared my surface with wire brush in places of any loose rust, then used Hydrate 80 rust treatment (two coats), the once dry a light coating of the UB wax. Dry overnight, then 2nd coat. Comes up a dark brown colour (almost black) & looked neat enough. Can send you some pics of it when finished if you wanted to give me your email. Good luck.
@@stevesas632 thanks Steve for the reply! That was really my only concern becuase I've used rust proofing products before that where like glue and absolutely everything would stick to it. So thanks for the answering it mate, appreciate it!

After being there and done that several times on the ground, I feel your pain, as you say you always learn the hard way but the experience you have is way more valuable, after seeing how clean this car was underneath I personally wouldn't have used that product (personally after using it myself and seeing the results a year or 2 after I believe it to be shit) degreasing and sorting the few rust spots as you did is spot on but you should have done it properly and dropped all suspension etc then coated everything with acf 50 then clean and recoat at least yearly. Not criticism just advice from my experience for you in the future, if any moisture or rust starts under that you won't know until it's too late, to be harsh it's basically a death sentence for that car.
Did my fd in december with dinitrol, was a pig of job, took everything off underneath etc, took 3 days. I had a respirator on and the filters were black when I'd finished. Rather than use a hairdryer to heat cans up stand them in a pan of boiled water.
I've done this several times and plan doing it again this summer. Great reminder to get some gloves and wear goggles. My body aches the day after. Happy when it's done though.
That car is so clean for its age! Good call to give it some extra protection 👍... perhaps you should also do some cavity waxing on the box sections? Water always manages to get inside and ends up rotting them from the inside out. A good example being the rear subframe mounts. If it were me, I would get a few cans of Dynax S50 (with a lance), undo the subframe bolts one at a time and stick the lance up inside and give those mounts a good dose of wax on the inside.
Working under my car one day, knocked some rusty metal off, straight into my eye it goes....natural reaction is to close your eye and rub, big mistake lol I had 3 pieces of rusty metal pushed into my eye lol 4 hours later and some uncomfortable eye prodding and shit, I was sent on my way with a very sore eye ball 😂
