I like the idea of focusing on a few boots. I’ve found that some of my boots work better with thin dress socks, while others better accommodate medium or thicker socks. And so I try and have one or two pairs on hand that can work with whatever socks I’m wearing or want to wear due to the weather.
Well, firstly, thanks you tube for suggesting this video - now subscribed, great video and great quality, and nice boot collection 👍. I’m in England, I don’t live far away from the CF Stead tannery that supplies the leather for some of your boots. So, I’m gonna give you my current ‘4 boot’ Autumn/Winter rotation of English Made boots. You’ll notice not one has white or light coloured stitching as I live in countryside where I just can’t keep light stitching clean, as much as I like the look of it. So, my current 4 (I’m on the look out for a pair of green rough out, current favourite is C&J Islay) - 1) Cheaney Hurricane II in Whiskey Kudu; 2) Trickers Henry in 1001 burnished; 3) Loake Dingley in Rosewood Burgundy grain; 4) Loake Niro in Black Waxy leather. So, a brown, a black, a burgundy and a tan, with green waxy to add. I do have other boots but occasional/springtime wear not regular winter rotation. Have you ever thought of trying any English Boots? I do really like those Grant Stones in Jungle Kangaroo of yours, might just have to take a look, one pair of American Boots would give a bit of variation to my collection.
Thanks for sharing! I’ve had Trickers pop up for recommendations before. A lot of times it is from just talking with people about what to check out that I find new options. A lot of times it’s hard where companies might not have my size for last purposes but am always open to checking out new-to-me companies!
I'd love to see a 360 spin detail of the outfits you wear with each boot but that's just because I own zero boots other than winter snowblowing boots and don't really know how to style them.
Just to avoid any confusion, the jungle boot as you call it is the Grant Stone Brass Boot in Jungle Kangaroo. That boot is also available in the Earth Waxy Commander, same as your Field Boot. Hope that helps. Really nice texture on that Red Rambler. Not a big fan of Truman, due mostly to their business practices and lack of arch support, but their clicking seems to be very solid. Can't decide if I'm partial to that color or the inferno Rambler offered by Parkhurst on their stitchdown models. The inferno is darker, with a mix of brown and red tones. My collection is largely non-existent, I'm still in my first five purchases, so color dictates the purchase more than anything. Which is fine, because there are tons of good options available in any colorway that you're after as a boot buyer. I personally have limited options in terms of brands wearingr a 13.5+ Brannock, as a lot of companies stop producing at size 13. My first buys over the past year and change: 1. Truman 79 - "Java" Waxed Flesh 2. Parkhurst Allen Stitchdown - Inferno Rambler 3. Bordon Wanes STO - Stone Mohawk 4. Bordon Wanes - W & C Olive Oiled Latigo 5. Nick's 55 Last 6" Heritage MTO - Wheat Buck Waxy Commander The last three pairs listed will miss this boot season since they are still in production. Hope you enjoy your chosen pairs for the fall. Not that it matters, but I certainly approve! 👍
@@MetalBootGuy They don't do size exchanges, everything is processed as a return. No big deal, but they hold your refund for FIFTEEN business days (They say "Up to," but trust me, it was 15 for me on 2 occasions and would be for anyone else). So between a week of shipping to the East Coast and 20 days of them sitting on my refund (Holiday weekend), it's a month until you get a refund and can order again. If you try to order multiple pairs at a time as I did to expedite getting the correct size, you MAY get stuck with not only the return shipping costs, but a $30 per pair restock fee. I say may, because the language has changed since I ordered earlier in the year. Before, the policy basically said "We can charge you a restocking fee, but we rarely do," with the second half of that sentence emphasized in italics. At some point they got rid of the second half language altogether, so who knows what triggers a restocking fee and what doesn't. I know that the purchase of a $480 pair of boots wasn't enough to get me out of the restocking fee. For comparison, Grant Stone does their refunds in 2 days. So basically, they use a dated last that's tricky to fit, with a wide heel and narrow waist and forefoot. I acknowledge they have since introduced 2 new lasts, one of which is made in my size. Its availability is limited to select boots, and the thought of starting the sizing process all over again sounds worse than going to the dentist. I have a very standard width foot, and have never needed a wide width shoe or boot of any kind. That streak ended here, when I learned that I could not wear a D width in this last, and landed on a size 13.5 EE at least in a boot with a leather of moderate thickness like the Horween waxed flesh at 5oz or so. Get your size wrong? Prepare to wait most of a month while they make money with your money. They might hit you with a restock fee. You won't know until your refund arrives. Maybe it's what you paid. Maybe not... Bonus if you wear a large size. They make up to a US 14, good on them, but they sure as hell don't like to. You'll notice anything 13+ is never in stock. Apparently you have to request production of anything in a large size. Not that you'll see anything on their website about the need to do so... Apparently something like 2/3 of their sales are to repeat buyers. There's a small group of people that absolutely love their boots, and go back to the well for more again we and again. They certainly weren't interested in my repeat business, after a lot of effort finding the right size I learned they were more interested in making me one of those "Rare" people that were worthy of a surprise restocking fee than in making me one of those repeat customers. Thankfully they aren't the only company out there making good quality footwear for those of us who are larger of foot... As I said, they have changed their terms slightly since my ordering ordeal. The current terms are more clear but not any more customer friendly. I'd advise anyone ordering from Truman Boot for the first time to pay careful attention to their Terms and Conditions and decide if they're okay with them. Hope that helps explain a bit.
@BWM135 I've not had to deal with a return/exchange, however the 30% restock me always baffled me. I assumed it was outdated based on their previous BTO (built to order) model. however, this was brought up in the Truman Boot enthusiasts FB group and a few members said they were not charged this fee. yea the 79 last is a bit odd, however not all last are going to fit everyone. In all fairness, with all their width choices I cannot fit Nicks HNW last and there is another boot youtuber I follow who straight calls the HNW trash lmao. I can understand your frustration with the 15 day hold. that makes zero sense.
I also have a GS earth waxy commander field boot, aTruman black oiled roughout, and a wife with limited patience for my boot collecting habits! Quickly discovered a notable contrast between the sizing of the two lasts (GS Floyd and Truman 79) -- I'm a brannock 12 (really between 12 and 12.5). I went down a full size in the GS (11) and I probably could have gotten away with a size and a half down. In contrast, went down a half size in the Trumans, and probably could have gone true to size. Thanks for the vid!
@@TheStyleCantina I own three pairs of Grant Stone boots, and my favorite are the Diesel Jungle Kudu. Same leather and color but, not a Grant Stone Brass Boot like yours. I affectionately call them my Roos. 🥾🦘🥾

Beautiful boots. Nice presentation, pacing, and lighting also. I've been following boot channels for a year or two and this is this first time I've seen yours, and I liked it. Your Grant Stone Field Boots in Earth and your Truman Russet Red Rambler boots are both suedes by CF Stead, your Truman Black Oiled Roughout boots are roughout. Suede is a split leather. CF Stead's Mohawk, Commander, and Rambler suedes are also shrunken and stuffed with waxes and oils, which tightens the fibers and accentuates those beautiful character lines as well as making them far more water resistant. The Horween waxed flesh leathers you mentioned are roughout leathers, not suedes. The easy differentiation is the inside of the boot (unless it's lined and you can't see the inside of the leather), will be the smooth side of the leather when you have a roughout, while the inside and outside will both be fuzzy when you have a suede.
My rotation is heavy in black. My Thunderdome boot is Truman black waxed flesh. My favorite boot is Nicks Robert in black CXL. My moc toe is Grant Stone brass boot in crimson cxl. My wildcard is Bordon Tukano in chestnut wicket and Craig. Ordered them a year ago and patiently waiting.
Nice videos, high production value. I like your boots and I have a few from Truman, Grant Stone and Jim Green. The Truman's are great but a little on the heavy side for me so I only wear them at most maybe once or twice a week. The Grant Stones are a little lighter, the diesel is one of my go to boots for a smart casual look as well as my Parkhurst Niagara.boot. I also have a pair from jim green, the african ranger regular style, great kicking back boot to wear when I don't want to wear a more expensive boot. But honestly, my most worn boots are from Redwing, the 875 moc toe and the amber harness Iron Ranger. They are both light weight yet quite tough boots, absolutely love them. Plus they are a little cheaper, not much but a little. I am looking forward to recrafting them both, going to put on a black cristy sole with a leather midsole and red stitching on my 875 moc toe and a thick leather midsole with Dr Soles half sole (maybe green or some other cool color) on my Iron rangers. I am happy just thinking about it. Anyway, cool channel and look forward to your next video.
