As a long term borderlands fan whos been playing since the 1st one came out i always find it interesting what new players to the series have to say about the series as a whole, and especially about borderlands 1. There are a lot of things that never made it to other games like the weapon proficiencies, hybrid farming, eridian weapons (which unfortunately have a lot of problems but there is a cool mod that sort of fixes their issues and makes them more usable). To the newcomers to the series that may come into this video to see if the game is something they should play, welcome to pandora.
@martijnbosman2233 1, the pre sequel, 2, tales from the borderlands, 3, and new tales. 3 and new tales are not looked upon very well among long time series fans so no need to push yourself to finish those ones.
Though I would actually play 2 before pre sequel because while pre sequel takes place before 2, it actually spoils something about 2. So the before comment is chronological order, I recommend 1, 2, pre sequel, tales
@martijnbosman2233 listen to my 2nd comment for your first time, the 1st comment is more the order for people who have played through in the past. If you run into issues in the games just come on back and ask for some advice.
Personally as someone who's played every main series Bl game Tps included Bl1 is the only one I can still sit down and fully enjoy w/o getting burnt out in a few days
Welcome to Pandora. Borderlands 1 might not have the best gunplay or story of the series (sadly a lot of the story of the big villain is cut content) but it has a certain charm to it. Hybrid weapon hunting is really cool. If you need any advice or have any questions, let me know, and I'll see if I can answer it.
Ive been going through Boarderlands again, probably since 2010 Being the last time. One is the first one and that has to be taken into consideration, so there's buggy things here and there, but as it is from 2009, it's still an enjoyable game to pickup back up and enjoy the story.
I personally think borderlands 2 is better than borderlands 3 due to the fact how it was compared to other games at the time. While borderlands 3 feels more polished and has more content it was on par compared to other AAA studio games at the time of release.
Ok, by that logic, isn't something like pong the greatest game of all time because of what was available back then? I think that's a weird standard to judge a game by in the modern day. There are plenty of games that were amazing when they were released but are trash by modern standards. Bl2 is still good. It does have a better story, but overall, Bl3 is better in most ways, though.
Most of the story in 1 in text when u accept a quest, as the first game in a new ip it obviously didn't have the largest budget, and i also prefer this format in repeat playthroughs because who like siting there doing nothing but waiting for the npc to shut up so i can go back to playing the game, this is the reason i have only played bl3 once and hate the beginning of bl2
I find it interesting that you play series out of order, Borderlands 1 I liked for the bleak atmosphere and less silly story, but it's not as fun to play
BL2 was the best, but I like BL1 more than BL3 and TPS. There is something more genuine about BL1, even with the "older" gunplay and non-existant story, it still manages to be better than 3 as an overall package. It doesn't help that BL3's story and characters are so bad at times they're actively annoying to go through at times...
i think Bl3's shift to large scale space oddysey sort of ruined the somber low tech rustic space western feel that had been established for the series and was at its' absolute strongest in the first game. Bl2 still had pretty amazing variety but it all still felt somewhat fitting to the universe, at least for me. Bl3 has a more high contrast style and it feels a lot more interested in cyberpunk or whatever else it wants to do, that plus the characters being overly cartoony clowns missed what made them effective before, how their colourful personalities felt so fitting like they were byproducts of the blood and guts and mania of from somewhere like Pandora, and made the games more lighthearted without detracting from the brutality of the worlds in the Borderlands games
Fair enough I’d say Borderlands has that older gameplay and a very minimal story B2 has improved gameplay and an amazing story B3 has the most involved/best gameplay but a worse story So it just depends what you like

Never played any borderlands game, just bought Pandora's box on sale. I will start with the first but what would be the best order to play them?

My favorite game(s) of all time🎉

Borderlands 2 has far, far more charm and personality than 3.
I love that cell-shaded look and 3 didn’t have as much of that.

If you played it and don’t like it then no, if you’ve never played and like looter shooters or have never tried them yes
I have one can you do metal gear solid 5 worth it
Despite the terrible story, the game is a lot of fun.
BL3 is almost perfect
Don't know about that but it a shitload of fun.
👍
For me, its the female bandits and psychos that ruin 3 for me, also millennial writing. 1, 2, tales are best, TPS is where the fall off began.
Wtf is " loo'a shoo'a?🤔
Dude you can't even play online anymore 😂
still worth playing solo, i was focusing on a solo experience anyway like the other borderlands reviews
