Tally Ho..... "Tired of being partially devoured by skags? Sick of not knowing how to stop a rampaging stalker in its tracks? Then you need to pre-order The Beasts of Pandora, by Sir Hammerlock. (That's me!) Inside my book, you'll learn how to extricate yourself from any sticky situation, regardless of what flora or fauna is responsible for said stickiness. Remember, that's The Beasts of Pandora, by Sir Hammerlock! If you don't buy it, you'll die!"
One thing about threshers. They're an invaisive species that wasn't native to pandora prior to borderlands tps and instead resided exclusively on pandora's moon elpis. Slappy, the thresher that screwed over hammerlock was the first pandoran thresher and after maiming the poor dude it escaped and populated pandora.
Adding on to this, the second of the two threshers you send to Hammerlock in TPS is likely to be Terramorphous, as he refers to one of them as Terry after you turn in the mission. The one that grows up to be Slappy isn't namedropped there, but how big they are in 2 and being the one to mess up Hammerlock are evidence enough that Slappy's the other thresher
While the reason is "its a video game", lore-wise I'm surprised a species adapted to such low gravity would be able to so easily thrive on Pandora itself.
I think it's really cool that Badass Marauders wear Lance trooper armour, it subtly hints that either some bandits salvaged the suits or Lance soldiers integrated their skills into bandit ranks.
When I was just a little lad I used to read borderlands wiki similar to how normal people read books, nowadays I don't have time to read borderlands wiki anymore, but my interest in the universe hasn't decreased, so videos like this that just throw all the lore into a one big pile are very welcome
They did expand on rats in the pre-sequel. During a quest, you learn a lost legion scientist made geneticaly altered worms that caused madness in the host.
In BL2 they are implied to be a result of experiments, with the TMNT reference quest, Splinter Group, where Tannis says they are a result of Hyperion experimentation. Maybe Hyperion were trying to study the worms.
Fun fact: "Vermivorous" literally just means 'worm eater'. Considering the other Pandoran wildlife, this could suggest that varkids, or at least vermivorous specifically, feeds on either threshers or sand worms.
I love when Rats keep eye contact with you while doing stuff with loot, they know exactly what they're doing and they're milking it for all it's worth.
It would’ve better if the COV had the bl2 bandits. they’re both imitating and enjoyable to listen and shoot at. Along with showing different clans as opposed of streamer followers with no memorable voice lines compared to the true inhabitants of Pandora.
i recently played bl2 with no music (basically sacrilege ik) and the voice lines are so unique and varied, playing as all 6 gives different lines from loads of bandits, and the amount each on has is madness and really gives them all their own funny or and fucky personality

One thing that really annoys me in relation to BL2 and Guardians is that in BL3, Maya literally mentions that she fought Guardians on Pandora. Unless it happened between games, it's just bizarre she would mention them when they didn't appear in the prior entry

The scythids were more like alien cockroaches to me and my college roommate. Didn't help that we had discovered a roach infestation in our dormitory kitchen while playing this game, which looked like black scythids. We both agreed that Scythids were probably the most visually disturbing enemies we could encounter in BL1, especially the ones that rear up when slowly approaching, and part of me has been kind of happy that Varkids replaced the nasty buggers in BL2. Nice video, Hammerlock would be proud.
I hate the varkids lmao, not only because of the mechanics but because of the creepy ass audio they make and how they move, part of the reason ive never fought vermivorous But they do fit well with the areas theyre in
I also used to absolutely hate scythids due to how much they look like cockroaches, but nowadays I see them more as snails or something like that, so it's slightly less gross 😂 And it's exactly like cockroaches, the ones that fly are 10x scarier.
Fun little trivia, the Threshers were a native species to caves in Elpis, which, in a mission, under the request of hammerlock, we send two to Pandora (Iirc one is Terramorphous) so they are an invasive species. Other fun trivia, if you play that mission as Aurelia, she will fake an accent and voice because she wants to avoid any conflicts with her brother, too. Also you missed the Borderlands 1 Hyperion soldiers :(
I don't remember where but I seem to recall that scythids are seasonal creatures. Pandora has really long and weird seasons and when Dahl first landed on the planet, it was just leaving a wet season, during which there were no Rakk or Skag, but lots of scythids. During the dry season, which lasts for a decade or something, the scythids hibernate like cicada. I have no idea if this is true, but it is sitting in my brain in a fact bin not a theory or opinion bin.
I do remember reading somewhere that Pandora's winter is 7 years, during which time most large mammalian-adjacent fauna hibernate. Dahl originally arrived shortly before the end of winter.
Fun fact about Goliaths, they’re naturally bloodthirsty maniacs, but the bandits discovered that slapping a helmet on them and pressing down the little skull piece made them more friendly and docile, at the cost of intelligence. Simply put, trading intelligence and combat skill so that they don’t murder your entire camp.
Looking at all these close up images of all these NPCs made me realize how cool they look. They did an absolutely fantastic job creating an aesthetic for each NPC and type.
I know most of this information is directly ripped -from the hands of dead adventurers- from the Wiki, but you do a good job making it interesting and pretty damn funny
One thing I'm pretty surprised you didn't bring up, is how weak crystaliks' crystal legs are to melee attacks. You can kill them extremely quickly in high levels with any character if you focus on melee. It's so good.
My headcanon is that threshers drove scythids to extinction after they got brought from Elpis to Pandora by Hammerlock and a bunch of vault hunters. Both species live underground and favour poluted areas. When it comes to guardians, I also blame the Pre-Sequel vault hunters for their absence in BL2. Their presence on Pandora might have been orchestrated from Elpis and well ... guess what the final boss of the Pre-Sequel is.

Was hoping for at least one reference during the bullymong section to them being "Bonerfarts" until you complete that quest. Because if you hang on to it long enough, they will just be called that for the majority of the game.

That was painful, and great at the same time. It made me laugh here and there. It was like reminiscing the fun, pain and pleasure of the old games. Kind of made me want to go back and play them again. Sadly, I have Borderlands 1 on CD and have no way of loading into my computer. Remember games on CD? yeah, I'm that old.
I appreciate the watch! Yeah I had battlefield 3 on games for Windows Live and couldn't play it after they shut the service down, RIP CD games for PC ahahaha
A documentary about Pandoras wildlife and extra stuff? Im in lets get some snacks!
31:28 and Krieg (but he's not enemy)
Lick the wombat flay until dawn.😂
I remember facing guardians in a mission in the pre-sequel so not everyone that didn't play BL1 missed their chance to fight them
The Goliath has more levels than 5
I thought you might find it funny that UA-cam automatic captions frequently translated "Spiderant" into Spider-Man and "Badass Spider-Man" gives me disturbing mental images
"Queen Spider-Man" gives me even more
I think you missed Buzzards in BL2
Loved the video, never thought I'd find a video on the enemies of pandora, do you think a video on the enemies of TPS is possible? I know it's not a well recieved game but there are people who enjoy it.
Good idea! i went into this thinking of splitting the enemies up into Planets (hence why BL3 will be its own thing) so covering the moon of pandora next makes sense! also ive been getting into TPS recently and i love it a lot more than when i originally played, a really cool game ill definitely cover thanks!
"Rakks are the worst things to exist since- *Zenless zone zero ad*
Yeah that seems pretty accurate.
Was hoping for at least one reference during the bullymong section to them being "Bonerfarts" until you complete that quest. Because if you hang on to it long enough, they will just be called that for the majority of the game.
“see why i want to kill myself now?” dude your humor is off the wall funny with no censorship i love it, keep it up and great video
I feel like "carapace" is a pretty basic anatomical term though.
Dw i did actually know what it was i just thought it would be funny if i did "confused at weird word then explain what word is" meme ahahaha
You should definitely do one of these on the pre sequel as well. I know I'll get hate for this but i think the pre sequel is one of the best most balanced experiences in borderlands
The rats not only yoink dropped loot but they can also pickpocket you out of your money when they charge at you and hit you with a Melee attack, but if you kill them they will drop the money lmao
rakks are the worst thing since cliff racers...annoying and noisy but not dangereous until you turn around and realize there are about 40 of them chasing you for the last hour
D...Do you never look at your minimap and see the red dots swarming around you?
Love it!! Now....do one about all of the glitches in Borderlands lol. Seriously. I've got a slag glitch on my Assassin and it suck. Now I think I have a "corrode and gun slinger" glitch that I can find anyone else talking about.
One quote from the psycho's in Borderlands 1 is: "Time to Pound The Meat puppet"
one thing about the Threshers. as of the Pre Sequel it's Hammerlock's fault because they aren't native to Pandora.
