After a very limited release in early 2022, Crom is back and part of the regular Caroline Guitar Co lineup! Like their Olympia fuzz from way back, Crom starts with a 4 transistor circuit with diode clipping (inspired by the 70s Supa Tonebender) which has a nice sweet spot between Muff and Bender tones. You get silky smooth leads and chunky chords but Crom forges a new fuzz signal path with various controls to maximum its tonal offerings. The Helmet knob controls the output, which is high enough to overcome low gain setting or broken, gated fuzztones.
The Mountain tone knob avoids the common scooped Muff tone stack and opts for a Tweed-style circuit that will interact is pleasing ways with the other controls. The Sword knob alters gain by varying the voltage of the first gain stage and transistor emitter, thus affecting other stages downstream. This method changes more than just gain and really offers a different feel and level of immediacy to the fuzz sounds across the dial.
On the side is the Turbo push button which increases bass response, sustain and output by changing the clipping diodes and components tied to a transistor stage for a wider range of compression and output.
Finally, you can fine tune the feel and decay of the fuzz signal with an internal gate/bias trimmer which takes Crom into starved fuzz territory and opens the doors to staccato riffs and 60s fuzztones.
Caroline Guitar builds the Crom fuzz one at a time in
Columbia, South Carolina and loads it with BC184 Silicon transistors and high quality components and enclosures. Once a limited run, Crom is finally part of the regular lineup. Visit CarolineGuitar.com for info on availability near you!

What is best in life? To crunch your enemies, to see them over-driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their fuzztones!
Bwahahaha...a play on Conan! Nicely done.
During all those years Andy still holds the crown of the best reviews over the whole internet
The pedals are neat but I get even more enjoyment out of the sweet jams, very inspiring and aspirational!
Thank you very much!
Focus with your journey guts, dont let GAS syndrom hold you back!
@@AndyDemos Thank you for being my favorite guitarist! 🤩
The Crom is a fuzz pedal for people that struggle with finding fuzz pedals. It's like a fuzz introductory pedal that has a huge sweep of tones and none of them are bad. It's Rat/DS1 control friendly, but still sonically diverse.
Proper assertion
Conan the Barbarian approves of this review
Sounds really good. Desert tones.
Loved that intro 💥
Swinging that guitar like it was a warriors’ sword....Andy is killer to the Max! Thanks for the demo, broady.
: )
What a great sounding fuzz!
Awesome sounding fuzz, great playing as always
Nice - this is very metallic! Great playing as always!
Great to see Andy with his own channel. Been following him for years, (on line of course, not in person)😁, and his playing just gets better like a fine vino.
very nice!!!
Crom laughs at your four winds
owesome this one ☝️
I wish all fuzzes came with a "turbo" button to reintroduce the low end for us bassists. I think it would sound better in a mix without it the turbo engaged for guitar, though. Great sounding pedal!
I wish all fuzzes came with a "turbo" button to remove the low end from guitars for us bassists.
Dude thank you for always doing such great reviews and pretty much make me wanna buy every pedal you demo and open with a jam is the best🤘🏼
I really appreciate it!
"Valor pleases you, Crom... so grant me one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!" - Conan the Barbarian
Andy is telling us days of high adventure!
Killer pairing with the Somersalt
Thank you! It was originally going to be a minor overdub since it’s effect heavy but I liked it so much haha!
Some of these settings remind me a lot of the EQD Acapulco Gold, which is great!
I was just wondering the other day when we’d see a new Caroline pedal
Trying to Use your technique lately and I already lost 3 fingers and a nail :). I’ll make it because it’s so liberating!
Cheers!
Best of luck! :)
I’ll need it thanks ;)
Can we get a tour of your pedals / studio man? Would love to see your gear
You are fabulous, a great teacher and a superb player! I always enjoy your demos (even the one where the greatest Fuzz ever had no battery power 😊… Right!). God bless you and keep up the good work.😊😊😊
I keep forgetting to ask: do you wear an acrylic nail on your index finger?
Thanks so much, I’m glad you find these videos helpful! I don’t do anything to my fingers, I actually made a vid about my fingerpicking to answer those burning questions! ua-cam.com/video/sf24m4xF-Ro/v-deo.html
@@AndyDemos I assumed you had! Thank you for your reply, you are a good man. Best wishes for you and yours… Talk to Lloyd’s of London about your fingers - they should be insured!
@@AndyDemos thanks. I watched the previously made video. Now I know. I am also glad you didn’t have to go through it again, just for people like me who missed it the first time!😀🎸👨🏼⚕️🏴🇺🇸🏴🤷🏼♂️
I feel stupid using the word clarity in reference to tones as nasty as these, but I certainly was impressed by the note separation/attack when you picked out a couple chords. I’m sure the twangmeister had something to do with it as well.
So raunchy! Great intro, I hope you know I download these songs you write and listen to them on my iPod.
Crom laughs at your puny gods!
I once had a girlfriend turn into a mythical creature when i hit the fuzz button. Crom on!!!🎸
Sustain for days
Seriously! Thanks :)
Sounds like a pedal I would use exclusively with the tone dimed
Yes it doesn’t hurt! Philippe told me it affects the “attack” of the later gain stages as well as tone. Thanks for watching!
How do you think this compares to the Black Arts Pharoah?
Great sounding pedal. But why would you ever put bias on an internal trimpot on a modern fuzz?
It's a bonus adjustment as far as I'm concerned. They didn't have to include one at all, it sounded great from the factory!
Top Drawer, Adjustable Pots. Sounds nice with the Somersault. Whats one more Fuzz lol.
Andy I must know, are those chords played at 4:12 a song or just jamming? Because that really should be a song
All riffs in this one are spur of the moment! Thanks 👊
@@AndyDemos Very cool, thanks for all the Caroline demos, I'm definitely going to get a few of them!
Andy, how much does that Ibanez bass weigh?
This red one is 10lbs, my ash Blazer is only 8.5 👍🏻
yoo andy i got my hands on a piece of Japanese greatness the katanasound super bass fuzz i might wanna send it to you for a demo lol and see what it can do in your hands after i send it to dead end fx to be cloned
Very cool, thanks for sharing! I just looked it up, really great use of a clean blend. Good luck with that clone 👊💥
Must put out a Wheel of Pain pedal
Ouch. No mention of Arnie or the barbarian. Come on Andy. Your better than that !!!! Nice fuzz btw.
That’s what the comment section is for 😉
@@AndyDemos : )
Your Twangmeister is redic cool!
Sounds like a chainsaw....BADASS!
Maybe I've been using my somersault wrong this whole time...
Buy this pedal and learn the answer to the Riddle of Steel.
All of the demos I have watched by Andy... I have never seen him so bored....
You’re really misreading me here.
@@AndyDemos perception is reality... rock on!
My old beloved Hoof still rule em all.
I'll give it 7/10 though
Spiderbait “Buy Me A Pony” tone for sure
Killer sounding pedal, although I hate hidden adjustments. I’d prefer to have the turbo foot-switchable and not having to open the pedal to make bias adjustments.
U do it one time then I don't have to do it again unless u have to make a level adjustment for a venue. They aren't that hard
Have you seen the Standard….two snakes intertwined?
That sounds barbaric!
