Torque Detail Sap Attack - www.torquedetail.com/products...
While at an auto auction, I came across this 1997 Honda Civic EK Hatchback. This was categorized as a biohazard with no key. I grew up wrenching on these old Honda EK Hatch's so this one felt special to me and I wanted to save it.
After putting on some fresh wheels and tires, we hit our local speedway to do some autocross in the hatch. Now today we are gonna spend some time recharging the air conditioning. Today we are going to show you how to recharge the AC in your car.

i cant wait to see this thing at its prime. keep it up bro
Love the videos, maybe as it’s been parked up for a while one headlight could be in the shade whilst other one was exposed
@Bendaga How much did you pay at auction for the civic? Why is it a secret?

Nothing makes a car look younger than fresh headlights. I love seeing a stock/stock+ old economy car getting some real love.
agreed!
Glad that you're giving this Civic love and affection. Not a lot of cars get this much TLC.
Appreciate it!
Those headlights make the car look so much better
It's always in the details
This Civic is one of the cleanest ones ive ever seen and it just shows how much love and affection you put into it
means a lot, thank you
Turtle Wax makes a bug and tar remover. It works great for sap and tar. Spray it on and let it sit for a little bit then use a old credit card to scrape it off
I actually saw that on the shelf at my local parts store! May be worth an acquisition
Nice! As for the treesap, I would go for a claybar and a quick detailer. Works wonders on that stuff. Since its so gummed in there, it will take some passes to dissapear, but man what an end result you get. Waxing afterwards is a must ;) Love the Honda journey!
Yes ☝🏽 everything he said 💯
I'll have to give claybar a shot. Just trying to be careful with the original paint
@@bendagaYou poured acetone on it wdym you’re trying to be careful 😂
It's turning out to be a nice little car. Barely see any in the UK, its definitely found a good home!
not too shabby
Feels great to see the civic getting some love ... i believe that not only you , all people on this channel has already fell in love with this civic ... heheh .. great vid bro ... keep it up !...
Love watching this Civic progress! I love these cars and enjoy seeing someone give them the TLC they deserve.
glad you're enjoying it so far
Hey bro, I've been watching your videos for some time now and I'm really in love with the way you make videos, and especially I want to see this civic more often, if possible. Thanks for the content, and good luck in the future videos!
tysm for the kind words 🙏
As a 14 year old, you’ve made me want to get a EK hatch for myself :)
Great choices and that headlight!! GREAT!
Great content man!
My family used to have a '98 DX civic sedan-same silver color. 5 speed manual, manual everything-manual window cranks, manual door locks, we even hooked up a sirius xm to the cigarette lighter. That thing was a beast. Sold it with 250,537 miles on it due to a broken air conditioning compressor. These videos bring back the memories of that car. (Especially the beeping sound from when you start it up)
the 90's honda starter is so nostalgic. Sounds like that car treated you well!
@@bendaga There sure is something special about a 90's honda.
The new headlight makes the civic look more fresh!
💯
I had the coupe body from this gen, I loved that car. I’ll get another one day, because these cars are so easy to work on and just genuinely have fun with. Awesome progress!
8:41 HA! Your jaw will drop when you see my father's covered in tree sap, beaten beyond believe, sunburnt black ford focus mk1!
Nice upload for a Sunday morning ❤
thanks brother
Headlights finally replaced! U did a really great job.
yessir; thanks!
Yes more Honda content
I got u
great work by the way
love to see your new videos
each time new things
thank you bro
What an absolute chad you are. Also, I'm seeing more and more cars with the left headlight being clean and the other one being faded, I don't know if that's a coincidence or something but I don't know man. I'm working on my Bora and doing small projects to make it nicer (I'm planning on buying a Passat stereo and waiting for the shipment of a center console arm-rest) I would like to clean the headlights, but I think I'll have to do that in a second moment because my grandma is annoyed by this because she uses that car to get to church and I work on it on weekdays when I have time.
I wonder about people giving preference to the driver's side over passenger.
Yeah I'm not sure. Maybe it has something to do with the sun hitting the car. Idk. But congrats on restoring the Bora. We didn't get those here in the states but I'm sure that would be a really fun car to own
@@bendaga owning a Bora isn't neither fun or annoying, it's 'a car'. It's really reliable (it's 18 y/o now) and it does like 4 or 5 per 100km, which is great for a 50l tank, that means with a full tank it can maybe do 900 or even 1000kms, which is brilliant. A bad thing is, it's all dented, especially on the left door, but you can 'massage' it a little and it'll become great again. Another problem this car had was that the trunk lock hydraulics were broken but my dad replaced it, costed 110€ and that's really not cheap. It also has the plastic part of the right tailight broken and the side of the driver seat looks like it was chewed by a dog, but it ain't nothin' really special.
Edit: havent' you got the Jetta in the States or am I wrong?
Great result :)
The way I compare and test new bulbs is I turn the shutter speed all the way downand ISO all the way down (just letting the least amount of light into the camera) and go right into the bite point, then seeing how much it'll light up. It really helps having something you can actually look at it through without hurting your eyes and having such a clear view.
Thats a great idea ✍🏽 appreciate the tip
Keep up the good work man
I'll try 🤠
I like the silver paint its looking clean
yes sir keep up the good work
appreciate you
Is there any other solution to remove tree sap?
Thanks for the video👌🏻
How about using a razor instead of that trim removal tool combined with the sap attack? I've seen many people using sharp razors to get rid of many types of gunk from paint, it shouldn't damage the clearcoat if you'll be careful.
Looks so much better ! I wonder what's next for the civic ???
🤔
Headlights really make the difference
ikr
Yippie new video!!
Oh nice. My whole car just got bombarded under a pine tree. I could have cried, it is speckled in sap all over it.
I'd get it detailed asap, maybe some works on that especially.
More clean more good
absolutely
What if you use the sap remover and a rubber tan/white emblem remover on a drill
Now, with our OCD about that headlight satisfied, see if you can collaborate with some car detailing channel to detail this beauty really good 👍🏼💪🏼
It was bugging me too 😭 ngl that would be amazing
I wondered about "Goo Be Gone," to get rid of the sap. Lame story, so in February as I recovered from hand surgery after an incident with a stray cat, the latch on my trunk broke. It took more than a month to get an appointment with the Hyundai dealer as I am not a car fixing person (quite jealous of you). In the meantime, I relied on trusty duct tape to seal the trunk. The dealer charged me quite a price to replace the latch, but do you think those bums removed the tape and residual adhesive? No, so I bought Goo Be Gone. It sort of works, but the month long wait for the appointment has the tape very difficult to remove. Not done yet, so I am going to continue once summer and 90+ degree Temps arrive.
Anyway, the lights look nice now that one eye of the car had its cataract removed. I might buy a tee shirt too (although) I don't need any shirts.
sorry to hear about your hand, hopefully it was a smooth recovery. Sounds like Goo be Gone might be a viable option, I'll have to dig around and see what I got
@@bendaga Thanks Man. It took longer than I expected to heal, but I am not 30 years old by many years.
She's looking real purdy ✨️, I love this car and I love these videos, keep it up man
🙏💙
it looks so gorgeous also that wheel and tyre combo grows on me looks oem and sporty little fun machine simple and amazing
simple and fun is the goal
@@bendaga you definitely nailed it my friend :)) are you going to get little spacers for both front and rear? it may pop out that gorgeous wheels..
@@hasretgumus not a bad idea
@@bendaga yayyyy give it a try if you could find a chance that would be sick
I wonder if using a heat gun to warm up those sap spots would help them come off a little easier?
In Philadelphia I am waiting for July temperatures in the high 99s to help with some adhesive removal. But our friend in the PNW won't get that option.
My ocd thanks you
Am u the only one getting Bob Ross vibes from him?
As soon as I read it, I agree. If he grows out his hair more and grew a beard...😊
Tried using MC cleaner? I've used it on tree saps, double sided tape residue, and a whole lot of other stuff.
Not yet; but maybe I should!
YESSS FINALLY WOOOO
Gas works with sap
Please apply some film on the headlights to make it protected from yellowing
Maybe try some Auto Glymm to take off stuff gunked up on the roof and it also protects from rust and helps prevent any rust spread! Just spray it on the car body panels and use a soft sponge then rinse it off! (Wear rubber gloves to protect your hands and dont leave it on the paint for too long and maybe wear a mask 😷)
I'll have to check it out; thanks for the tip
It got drums or disks at the back? Btw soon buying ur merch.
Drums - and appreciate it!
I think you can swap integra rear discs in there fairly easily but it’s been a very long time since I worked on one of these
@@kixtonjordan9521 I think swapping brakes are pretty easy
@@kixtonjordan9521it's not really necessary unless you're upgrading the tires or doing something that makes better upgrades make a difference, if both can lock up the wheel then there is no point really
IPA works wonders. You just have to let it soak.
woah really? Never would've guessed
Can you upgrade the doors, power doors and power mirrors. That would be cool.
If I can find a parts car, maybe we can make that happen!
Les go!!! ❤❤
💙💙
What's the intro song name?
A plastic razor blade could help with the sap removal.
for sure
Maaaaaannn k swap this one! I got a 96 ek hatch dx. Fully built K swapped. She screams 🤤🤤
what a beast - might have to eventually 🙈
Clay block
Rubbing alcohol removes sap with out damaging the paint and it removes in a few seconds
If I had money I would have bought the civic in any price you demand.
is it me or is the hood just *slightly* diffrently colored
He recently got it replaced
Nah those are boogers. I used hand santizer cause it doesn't evaporate so quickly.
Why didn't you just switch to LED headlights....?
3rd btw I love your videos
Install projectors..by that's standards, those headlights can't produce why meaningful light
Car doesn't start tho
Bro I am about to buy a car my budget is about 50k Canadian
I want it to sound good and fast but the twist is I need a sedan or small suv because my mum doesn't allow me to get sports cars😑
get a veloster n or a wrx and build it (idk if you like subies)
